I am not sure that luminol would show up animal urine. My hunch is that they're pulling flooring and/or drywall from various places in the house - basically anything where luminol showed a stain. Then they're going to DNA test those stains to see what is/is not relevant.
Bear in mind that she has an infant so there's a huge likelihood of baby stains. Further, if she or any previous resident had an indoor pet, that can produce a ton of stains on flooring. An unneutered male cat will often spray and stain drywall, etc.
Basically it might be a big fishing expedition, I've got 2 theories on why they may have chosen to do this now ratherr than earlier:
1. They recently encountered a tip or evidence that strongly suggests foul play occurred in the house.
2. Looming government shutdown may be threatening loss of access to FBI forensic/testing resources so they want to get this in before that happens.
