That’s an interesting thought that I saw someone mention the other day I hadn’t thought of before. What if she was and he really felt trapped and wanted to get rid of her?? No matter what he’s a sick evil but that would make it even more so.

I can see this, he has to care for his mother, he had to care for the baby while KB worked and commuted, and if she told him another baby was on the way and he’d have to care for that one too, may have made him “take care” of KB.

In the press conference, the police chief said that "Kelsey's daughter K was in protective custody and would be reunited with Kelsey's family."

I wonder how it came about. I guess CPS decided they would get the baby. I wonder why? Why not his mother? Or other relatives in CO? I mean don't get me wrong, I'm grateful as can be.

It makes me wonder about possible involvement of others in his family, or they're deemed not capable of caring for her, or he was not on the birth certificate so if KB is determined to be dead her child would go to her next of kin, not the family of her fiancée.

I doubt it, sorry. Just as he carried his poor child around, it was just another animal from his ranch population. (Idk, if Google translation said it well. ) Carefree and little emotional. The little girl hangs on his arm as if it were about to fall off. I see a clumsy clot here, who doesn't care about the little sweet creature. Sleeping, feeding - okay. More isn't needed, I think, he was thinking at the time. I don't like such fathers at all.

100% agree and I think that child was in serious danger the entire time , I think we are all very lucky we aren't mourning a 1 year old as well as Pretty Kelsey IMO

It was an intense scene. I have seen it before. But she might have been carrying on OR they had reason to believe she would harm anyone coming for her precious.

Has there been any past examples of PF being enamored or loving toward the little daughter? So far I don't see child custody as
being a motive here, unless I've missed something.
I believe Kelsey's successes wore on PF, she had accomplished
a lot at her young age and he still hadn't left the womb.
Macho men don't take kindly to females who outpace them
professionally. She probably made a lot more money than he did.
She had her independence, her home, her career. What did he have? A few cows (or mommy did), a sideline playing rodeo cowboy, don't know how successful he was there but many of
these guys play at it but don't earn much income.
I think he resented her all around. And wanted to move on to
someone more on his level. Kelsey had outgrown him and he
knew it and hated her for it.

Custody can still be a motive for people who don't especially adore or even like their children.
1. They don't want to pay child support.
2. They view the children as their rightful "property." (Which, sadly, was the law until the early 20th c.)
3. They want to punish the caregiving parent by not allowing them to enjoy the bond with their child.

Yup. Two people staying they'd witnessed animal abuse and one saying he had heard mixed reports. That was enough for me.

It's unlikely to have that many accounts. Coupled with the feeling I got watching his dog video and also his attitude with the media - I could feel his rage with them - it all made an impression of who this cat is.

Not a good one for me.

When I was in law school I did some work with the Animal Legal Defense Fund...one of the lawyers who volunteered with them said people would sometimes ask him why he "wasted his time" fighting animal abuse as opposed to child abuse, and he basically said that going after people who abuse animals was a way to fight child abuse. If he could punish people for abusing animals, he could hopefully stop them from progressing to abusing children.

These threads are so incredibly long, can anyone fill me in? I saw the PC this morning which told us almost nothing. Have you all wonderful people uncovered anything additional? Will we know anything more anytime soon? Have you seen these charges before and what do they usually mean in terms of the crime? Last question, how can they be sure she’s dead with no body? ie accomplices. Usually LE has a pretty good idea if victim is deceased by either witnesses, physical evidence like blood spatter
in the home, bloody items discarded, accomplices, or adding
up all the circumstantial evidence. they're sure she's dead at this
time or they wouldn't have announced it.

What I don’t get (along with everything else) is how PF could go to such extremes establishing that he was nowhere near Kelsey, yet he couldn’t “act innocent” and plead publicly for her safe return? One would think he would at least go through the motions after how much he already had invested in establishing his innocence.

I feel like he was just plain arrogant.

This is a lot more complex and involved than I thought it would be. I thought it would be nasty argument, violent man kills her, hides body, shuts up and it's years or never before justice can be had.

I thought there may not even have been an argument but more like a snapped moment. She was talking wedding, and he just snapped and strangled her. The Oh Sh** moment, followed by, as you say, the coverup began. I am genuinely shocked by the solicitation charge.

How do we know the baby is with her family? Can anyone confirm this?

Police Chief reported baby was in protective custody during presser. Also said goal was to unite her with Kelsey's family but did not say when it would happen. Hope it won't be a long process.

Colorado is spoiling us. I'm so impressed with LE in that state. There's no ego involved in the small PD's. Looks like they immediately request assistance from CBI and FBI and the collaboration is so damn effective. Two cases back to back with such quick arrests.

In hindsight now, I’m wondering if her brother detected any smell of cleaning products and/or new paint when he first checked her place before she was reported missing? I’m guessing neither he nor others who went in early in December detected any suspicious smells, though it’s surprising since there must have been quite an attempt to clean/cover up.

Let's hope it's a speedy trial like CW. I wonder why they did not find the physical evidence needed the first time they went to KB's house. Maybe they didn't know exactly what they were looking for? Whatever they found it must be enough to charge without a body. I hope they put the death penalty on the table to get him to confess to where she is.

I think if they give him the same accommodations as CW, they’ll get what they want, a guilty plea/LWOP deal.
Lock him up alone for 2-3 months. Prison is much easier than county lock up.

OT kinda, but recall the beautiful realto in TX murdered by her estranged husband? During the hurricane. Another man in the 30ish age group. Puzzling.

Me too. Many of us suspected he had help AFTER the murder, but I sure didn't think about soliciting help BEFORE the murder.

I hope the person he conspired with knows were Kelsey is.

Jmo we may never know the motive because no way he is going to admit anything. But I think it is custody. Especially if she considered moving to ID or WA. But either way...custody in some way. Jmo

Yes they were at her home twice in two nights...practically took it apart last night.

Wow - watched the PC (good job to those that posted updates and Pommy for the synopsis)- 19 days - let that sink in. December 2 - December 21. Wow - I am very impressed with this LE team. I shudder to think what they uncovered in her home to determine she is deceased. Interesting response to the question about an accomplice - booking doesn't require the naming of the solicitation charge but the formal charge in 10 days will - that is the way I heard it. JMO
