Do we really know for sure if it was premeditated?

To me, solicitation of murder means premeditation. This is one of the charges. Unless we hear something else.

I've wondered the exact same thing! Like why release a statement on 12/22 that says you were contacted by the FBI on 12/15 to assist with the execution of several search warrants related to the case but offer no other information about the nature of the search warrants or what evidence may or may not have been recovered. Why wouldn't they wait until they could confirm or deny that evidence was recovered and handed over to the FBI or why wouldnt they release it on the same day as the last press conference? It seemed weird to me... almost as if they just wanted to brag about their role in the investigation. Like they weren't given their due credit during the PC and wanted the public to know.
Confession incentive? As in, we're collecting evidence and interviews which implicate you, so it's to your advantage to talk and make a deal, etc. before the other party we're talking to beats you to it...

Do any of y’all remember the tragic case of Ingrid Lyne from Renton WA a Mom and nurse who met John Charlton (monster) online and dated a couple months in 2016? I think he murdered strangled her after a date to a Seattle Mariner baseball game. He dismembered her in a bathtub with a saw. He basically was a drifter with alcohol problems. I think I remember LE finding pieces of bone, flesh and blood in the drain after they took it apart. He scattered her body parts all over Washington in trash cans.

Maybe PF did something similar?

Man sentenced to more than 27 years for killing, dismemberment of Renton nurse and mother

Man charged with slaying of Ingrid Lyne tells police: I’m ‘not a normal person’

I don't know if this has been discussed already but is it possible that PF scheduled texts to be sent after her death? I don't know what phone she had but mine has that option.

I may be in the minority here, but I think it’s very possible that her body is in Idaho.

PF went to all that trouble to make it appear that Kelsey was in Gooding, alive and well, at the time those texts were sent. IF he thought beyond that, beyond just doing that to buy him time and distance...it makes sense that he might also think “Ok, I’ve made it look like Kelsey was here in Gooding on the 25th. How can I make that falsity even more believable? I know, I will bring or have somebody else dump Kelsey’s body nearby. As if somebody else, probably random, came across her here and killed her.”

At least that makes sense to me. Why kill her and just leave her in an area close to him if he’s trying to prove she was en route to Washington? Why not dump her in an area that coincides more with the phone ping location?

JMO, and I realize he might well have disposed of her body right after the fact, much closer to home. Just throwing out another possibility.

Why did only get 28 years?!

@MassGuy , if you think dismemberment is possible, do you think he got the idea from the Khasoggi's murder? It was on all channels, and recently. All he needs to do is to run across the story when the body is not found, and follow the script.

(In fact, CW's story should have served as a deterrent). But instead, some people would probably think, "how do I avoid CW's mistakes"?

One, he did avoid, or tried to. He bought time. Found the day when people are busy, or away, and wake up with headache the next day.

Next thing is how to hide the body.
He is a local. He might know the habits of the animals, or where not to hide. He probably has an idea where the police might look first. I bet he knows about cadaver dogs. He knows the terrain, he knows his farm. He doesn't understand the people that well.

Now he knows about Google searches. (After CW's case). He does not know that much about the computers and cellphones. He knows enough (maybe from unsolved/disappeared cases?) to lawyer up.

So to understand where he hid it, one should think like a local farmer. I have no clue. Have some ideas, but don't want to post them. They are probably wrong as I am not a farmer.

If dismemberment happened the plan was not to scatter parts around. The plan was to make it all disappear forever.
He also had dogs, so IMO she is not on his mom's property! Dogs might dig them up!

haven71, I also think there’s a really good chance her body is in Idaho.

I do believe he was bold enough to leave the state with her remains.

Maybe they are trying to flush some rats from their holes.

Ahhhh... gotcha. Well, that makes more sense. That thought never even occurred to me for some reason.

Why did only get 28 years?!

List of punishments for murder in the United States - Wikipedia

Washington

First Degree Murder 20 years to life. Standard sentence without criminal record is 20-26 years. At least 20 years must be served before parole eligibility. Special Circumstances may increase the number of years to an equivalent sentence of life imprisonment

Just the laws here. Ted Bundy would also not get life sentence in WA. The Menendez brothers would be already out, and with good behavior, would have been out five years ago.

I’m confused. While it’s not an element of murder, it’s relevant in criminal cases, is it not? Self defense, for example?

It's relevant in the sense that, as we can see here, people in general and juries specifically, want motive explained in order to feel they understand the whole picture.

But it's not an element of homicide or solicitation. It differs from intent.

Edited for clarity- it is not an element of any crime.

I don't think you're in the minority. I don't know where she is, but Idaho is a strong possibility, imo.

I don’t know if PF killed Kelsey all by himself or if he had help. Since LE believes he asked someone for help, I’m wondering if he wanted her dead but just didn’t have the nerve to maybe do it all by himself. If he did end up doing it himself, I’m thinking he’d try to take an easier/less messy way out. I’d be shocked if he dismembered her. It just seems like that would be too much for him.
