Colorado cares about best interest of the child. The baby is about 1.5 years old. Grandma Frazee may have provided the majority of care. She has every right to seek a slow transition to the Berreth family, so the baby isn’t confused.

As painful as it is for us adults to think of the mother of the possible murderer to continue care, it is that baby’s right not to be yanked away from what is familiar.

What a mess.

The baby knew KB's family. They adjust to this more than we adults. Otherwise kids in daycare would be totally scarred. Also, I do know of murderers whose children stayed with the murderers parents. The fact that they put this baby in protective custody after arresting PF makes me think they may have questions either about SF's ability to care for the child or had doubts about whether she could possibly be involved.

I have been in the court room with the mother of the person that murder my family member. At sentencing the mother cautiously approached us to apologize and to offer whatever words she could. Half of my family would not acknowledge her existence while two of us quickly thanked her for her words and moved on. It was awkward and surreal and a lot of emotion going on.
Sometimes it's best to stay separated until the right moment to feel out how reactions may go. See if a smile is accepted or are dirty looks being shot? I'm guessing their families may have only met briefly.

But the issue is the lack of a gesture of support when Kelsey was missing.

It’s not hard to reach out, or do something to publicize the disappearance of the mother of your grandchild.

Thank you. Ironically, it was custody related and involved DCFS but the perp is in custody. I am so sad, there are no words for my sadness, my mom was the sweetest woman alive. I'm a mess. I will say though, now that I know....LE will not let you say anything to the press or online. I am anonymous here, so I can say a little, but in real life, I have to remain completely silent. So I understand KB's family's silence.

I hope in time you are able to share your story for yourself if you so choose. You certainly can become a voice for victims and their families who are victims as well - as you so clearly know. Thank you for sharing what you have. Don’t let anyone take your power, your strength or your hope...those wont and haven’t come easy I’m sure. As a mom I can guarantee your own would want nothing less for you. Sending lots of thoughts to you and your family.

I wonder why she took the elevator and didn't walk down the stairs lol it's only 2 floors. I had jury duty last month around Election Day there.

She has a limp. I am thinking that she has a very bad back. Climbing any steps at all would be very painful for her.

On a side note, not just to Pommy Mommy. My own mother was murdered last week, so I'm a bit foggy, but I wanted to share what I know about how DCFS operates especially when one set of parents is unsuitable.

Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t feel he’s that bad looking. Putting aside everything we now know, and that he is likely a killer, I wouldn’t look at his picture and say he’s ugly or anything.

I think that we are in for a long trial. PF is neither Watts nor SP.
The silent type, and as I suspect, rather stoic. I wish he were a coward, it is easier to negotiate with cowards, but I’m afraid he is not. Currently he probably blames himself for failing to keep his daughter at the farm with his mother, so he is silent.

But these two people, his daughter and his mother, are important to him. I think he will never confess.

I wasn't able to respond to a reply I received on the previous thread and didn't know how to bring it forward. Newbie, I know So here's my response:

I see your point. I imagine there will be complicated times ahead for the Berreth family regardless of being given full custody, if in fact that does happen and we all hope it will. Truth is, we really know very little of SF or the rest of the F family save maybe what's been said about the sister or SIL bad mouthing KB on SM. Without anyone talking it's pretty hard to get a feel for their personality. Although, as we all know, people can put on a pretty good show despite their evil nature. I'm not saying she is. Just pointing out how easy it can be to fool others.

I wonder, does his mother truly believe he's innocent after hearing the charges? If she is awarded visitation will she be able to take baby K to prison for visits with her father? I'm hoping not. JMO. Since it appears he will never admit to anything, will his family try to influence K's view of her mother or cast her in a bad light as she grows up making excuses for PF? I would hope not but anything is possible.

These are good but tough questions. Right now, the toddler needs stability. I think she will get that by being with her maternal grandmother that looks so much like her mom she has lost. Time is what this family needs to figure out this new normal and I hope it can be grandparents loving her collectively on both sides. Prison visits are not where a child of this age with this trauma needs to be right now but one day when she can process it better maybe.

After all, it doesn't make much sense to award custody of a vulnerable, impressionable little baby whose mother has been brutally murdered by her father, to the family who supports and fights for him.

Agreed. It's curious why she filed for custody.

But then again... this may just be another case of "mother knows best" as we sickeningly saw with CW.

So tired of watching searches for and finding these dead women and babies, and watching the fallout of those who survive.

And seeing the men responsible paraded in front of cameras with a grin and self righteousness, then handcuffs, 3 square meals and love letters to get them through.
