Robbery is a taking of property that involves person-to-person interaction with force, intimidation, and/or coercion. I really hope baby K was not present for whatever happened, for example when PF went to pick her up on Thanksgiving we know PF admittedly was present with Kelsey and baby K for the exchange. Also wonder what he would want from her possession that either "was" his, or never was his. He would have to know it existed before trying to rob her of it. I can only think a possible engagement ring, but then that doesn't align with them having broken up in January of last year as he said, unless she refused to return it and he wanted it back. Or they really broke up in the days leading up to the "events" which set this in motion. MHO

Oh boy, I didn’t think about that.

The prosecution’s case appears to be still developing, and forcing their hand and speeding the process, could definitely play into PF’s favor.

It would make sense, as their case can only get stronger with time.
Yes. This is also why I think, for some reason, LE was forced to arrest PF before they really wanted to. Or they thought they were only days away from finding the body, phone, whatever else, but that has turned out not to be the case.

From what I have seen so far, IMO they are a very private family. I don't think we will see much from them.

I agree with this. They seem reserved and modest. Her mom did what was necessary to get the story out there that her daughter was missing, and now that there’s been an arrest she is stepping back and letting police and prosecutors do their jobs. There’s no need to continue to engage the public.

It may have been mentioned already but could his motive have been money? Maybe she had a life insurance policy that would have awarded him a sizeable sum in the event of her death. MOO
I suspect she did have a life insurance policy through her work which would have made him or her daughter the beneficiary. If her daughter was the beneficiary - and he had custody - then he would be in charge of the funds and how they were spent? JMO.

It is just so sad when young women fall in love with guys who end up killing them. They hope for love. They give love They get death instead. It just boggles the mind.

It happens just as often with woman who have been married 20 or 30years before they are married. It is not just young woman who are eventually killed by their spouse, boyfriend etc

I have wondered about this scenario as well. But if he was after insurance proceeds, then I would think he would WANT the body to be found and have tried to make it look like an accident or something. If she is just missing, an insurance company would be pretty suspicious.

It strikes me as odd that KB’s family has not released any videos of her that would give us insight into her personality. IMO it is good to “humanize” the victim (if that makes sense). Remembering Laci P. and the videos they put out of her smile and personality....
I bet they are still reeling at this point and trying to bond and nurture baby K. No doubt as the case moves forward the Berreth family will be Kelsey's biggest advocator.

I agree. They’re entitled to their privacy, imo. Not to mention they are likely ultra busy with the baby, grief, custody battles & all other unnecessary requirements thanks to P. Traveling to & fro must be exhaustive.

MOO

I had missed that point, that can be a normal way for things to proceed.

More like 2 days before he was arrested, is when he told people he'd broken up with Kelsey almost a year prior.
I think it was his co- worker, Cline, maybe , who said PF told him they only communicated in regard to the baby. Imo

I’d be shocked if he didn’t take her body out at night.

I’m of the opinion that she was killed not long after returning home from the Safeway on Thanksgiving afternoon.

Dusk was only a few hours after that.
@MassGuy cadaver dogs would have hit if her body had been there longer than a half hour or so. Did they not bring dogs in during either searches?

I would really like more of your thoughts on this. I thought LE took their time arresting him. Wondering if the person solicited went to LE first or if they had to sniff him/her out. I think they have the phone. Only the killer would know where he put the body. Why would LE be forced to arrest PF when they did? Flight risk maybe? Could PF have determined that LE was speaking to a witness?

Or his mother if she was awarded custody. Imo

In my state, the custodial parent can move w/o permission from the non-custodial parent, but they advise the court. Usually, IMO, visitation consists of extended periods of time during summer break & Xmas, the custodial parent generally absorbing transportation costs. Would it not be a hardship for a parent if he/she got a mandatory relocation from their employer, maybe even resulting in termination, if the parent/employee was not “allowed” to move?
Jmo
If he was not listed as father on birth certificate...he would need a lawyer to assert his parentage, custody/visitation, child support and/or to restrict her ability to move.

But neither her mother, brother, brother's husband, or cousin seemed to have any inkling that there was trouble in paradise, apart from the one report of him being an "odd duck" IIRC. The neighbors did not come forward to say that there'd been any loud arguments. The alleged murder seemed to come out of nowhere. There are some missing puzzle pieces here. The solicitation charges surprised us all. I have a feeling we are in store for a few more surprises. JMHO.
Like you, I absolutely feel there will be more surprises.

I don't think they took their time. I think they were anxious to arrest him and did so as soon as they had the evidence. Imo

@PrairieWind Could they have moved more quickly because they were concerned for the baby's safety? I don't think they could have gotten her from him legally without an arrest.

Or him being out could have put the baby, the witnesses, the solicited, in danger. Or he could have been a danger to himself and potentially committed suicide. I think they got in front of all of the above.

And I would think a paternity test. Imo

I don’t think he could necessarily spend insurance proceeds left to a minor child, could he?
Good question for an attorney. In my state, he could not.

I’m curious if his ten day head start would have hindered the ability of cadaver dogs to pick up her scent there.

In the Watts case, at least one if not all of his victims were probably gone for over half an hour before he moved them out of the house. The dogs were there the next day and IIRC, one had hit on his car but the other didn’t. I’m not sure if the dogs were able to sniff inside his truck or just around it. He definitely had bodies in it for over an hour the day before when he was transporting them. I don’t think they hit at all in the house.
