Maybe he planned to kill her somewhere else, but something went wrong. Perhaps KB sensed something was wrong . He was suddenly forced to do it right then and there.
Good point. Maybe his first plan involved KK's help, and she refused so he had to resort to something else. Imo

Ok, I have 1 simple comment/question:

Aside from the stupidity of planning & carrying out a murder, how VERY STUPID was it to kill her in her own home? Initially, when all this just broke and LE was searching the ranchette, etc., everyone was chattering and speculating about the millions of remote, outdoor places where PF could have disposed of her body. Obviously, an indisputable fact. So if you were PF, why wouldn't you just commit the murder in the wilderness to begin with? With the vastness of the land outside town, why commit the crime indoors and leave evidence???

I guess the answer must be that you have to have the wacko mind of a murderer, which, Thank God, I was spared.
Yes I agree I remember early on many speculated he took her to the woods to cut a Christmas tree - apparently he wasn’t that smart and left evidence to seal his fate IMO

Big mistake, on her part. I would think she might have known what that could lead to. I'm not sure what her intentions were. But it still doesn't make her responsible for the crime and it doesn't mean she could have prevented it. Imo
IMO, since BFF seems to worship her local rodeo queen KK, she thought the rest of the country would too, this is the small town mentality. She got it wrong, KK might be a big fish in a little pond back in ID, but SM is the ocean, and there are some big freaking sharks out there!

I think one possibility could be related to Baby K.

I don’t know if he may have had Baby K with him at the time because it would add suspicion if he had someone looking after her while he’s doing the deed. Or, he might have had baby with him because he had no other choice. In a house, she could have been put down for a nap (crazy as this sounds), while he “took care of business.” In the wilderness, he couldn’t safely leave Baby K nearby, as he committed his crime.

Basically, I think it came down to logistics. And we already know, logistics aren’t PF’s strong suit. But thank goodness for that, or he might be out free right now.

MOO

ETA: We also don’t know what the true current status was of PF and KB’s relationship. If they were broken up, I would think it would have been difficult for PF to lure KB to another location.

This makes sense, she would never have suspected a thing, out to cut a tree.

It would seem he left lots and lots of evidence including people who want their 15 minutes of fame even if it casts them in a dubious light :)

But it could still be something that verified what they may have been told, if someone is talking. Jmo
Intriguing.
PF did look little worried at the last court date, like he's wondering who's talking. Still it seems like FBI,CBI have had to work really hard to get what they have. ie Go to dump, dismantling KB's place, getting other evidence (phone, purse, body) So I'm thinking IN Lawyer has advised her to not talk.

I think most domestic murders are done in the home...and lucky for LE, most of the murderers are stupid.
Even the more clever murderers have difficulty establishing alibis, because it's challenging to prove that you were not at the place you actually were.

Wasn't his last court date the day he saw the evidence against him?
