Pilots do have to have regular medical exams and mental health evaluations in order to have current medical certificate which is required to fly. I'm in the process of getting my private license right now, but KB has a commercial one which I believe has more stringent requirements. As for drug testing, I guess it would depend on her employer if they do random testing or not. Some just do it as part of the hiring process.

Here's the link: I was automatically signed in to the site with my license number but I don't think you have to be to see it.
Medical Certification

Thanks so much, you’re the best!

I am not buying that a woman with TWO cars just decided spur-of-the-moment to voluntarily walk away from her life - on foot. MOO.
If she had a mental breakdown then it could be possible, I guess.

The "off for a week" from work has worried me, too, since the beginning of this case. Unless she told them that she was to have surgery or some medical or "personal problems" thing, I find the text hard to believe, since -- I assume -- it was supposed to be her official notification to her employer/company.
And then she remains away after that week. No word, as far as we know from her to work -- right? Or did I miss something?
Every day, I feel more and more concerned that she may be or was in big trouble. But, as we often say and hope, maybe we'll be wrong to worry on this one. Good things do happen.

I just saw this, and please forgive if it's a repeat:

Police Release Video of the Last Time Missing Colorado Mom Was Seen Before She Disappeared
The Woodland Park Police Department has released footage of the last time missing Colorado mother Kelsey Berreth was seen before her disappearance.
[...]
ABC News reports that Berreth’s family members described her as “grounded” and “responsible” and say she wouldn’t abandon her daughter.
[...]
“I just want her to come home,” her brother-in-law, Brendan Kindle, told the outlet. “I find myself calling her quite often and her phone just goes to voicemail.”
Berreth’s mother expressed similar sentiments in the news conference Monday. “Kelsey, we just want you home. Call us if you can we won’t quit looking.”

And I am not doubting just the text being sent by her to her employer but she has been missing three weeks now. She would not leave her baby or her responsibilities like that. I definitely feel foul play is involved. It may not be her fiancé at all. It could be some creep in her neighborhood. Who knows? But she is not missing voluntarily.

I have read two different stories about where the meeting place was to drop off or "exchange" the child. Did Kelsey drop her off at the fiancees home or was there an unknown meeting place?
Also I read that the Mom had spoken to Kelsey couple of times on Thanksgiving morning and said that Kelsey mentioned possible plans to go out to dinner. Do we know who she planned on going with? I would think it would be the fiancee.
When the Mom was asked about Kelsey plans to marry, she said they had no wedding date set. She also said they were looking for a place together but something about it being expensive because of the economy. I would think it would be cheaper to pay for one place. It really doesn't sound like the two were very serious about their plans to marry. Do we know anymore about their situation? It sounds as if they have shared custody, although I haven't seen it described that way. Imo

Without anyone having seen her? Without using credit cards? It seems unlikely. Unless she went to the woods somewhere and committed suicide like Jennifer Huston.

Well she didn’t walk to Idaho.

If a car was missing, I’d be far more open to the idea that she left on her own accord.

Can anyone think of a case where someone disappeared voluntarily due to mental illness but also made an effort to text her place of employment to say she wouldn't be in for a week and text her significant other? I can't think of one. All the cases I know of where someone walked away willingly or committed suicide they acted like nothing was wrong and then just disappeared. They usually don't bother to cancel future plans or give a time line of when they might be back (1 week). Because once they have decided to do what they are going to do nothing else matters. And it always leave a wake of "whys" on the part of loved ones because there was no goodbye, no closure. Suicide notes are actually very rare. And I think most people who struggle with depression do not want to give anyone an impression something is wrong or leave any breadcrumbs like that type of text would leave. JMO.
Good post, G. That's what I've seen, to WRT suicide. I've only seen one -- a good friend -- all was well enuff, so we thought, then he went for a ride and never came back. Vehicle was found in perfect condition, so no car problems. He was found soon after, not far from the car -- no foul play. No note, no obvious depression, and then, just gone. He had a medical condition and purposefully had not taken his meds which definitely led to his death.
But in this case, she had a little child -- that's the thing that keeps pulling my thoughts away from suicide.
A real mystery, this one. SMH.

Yes, and Kelsey worked for a company whose customers included the US Military. If she texted them on Sunday to say she wouldn't be in that week, would they be able to cover all of her classes for that week with almost no prior notice? Is there an extra instructor available or do they cancel all those classes and lose that income?
MOO

If I were her employer, I would have been alarmed and concerned and try to call to make sure she was ok. I bet they at least texted her back.

Was PF or any of his family at the vigil?

Look people she shared custody of her baby with her fiancée and she's missing 10 days and he doesn't report her being missing! Put two and two together.

She didn't make rolls, buy groceries then just decide to commit suicide. She had plans for the day. Disappearing off the radar was not on her schedule.

I wonder about that too. Did her employer text or call her to ask what was going on that she was taking a whole week off without notice? I imagine that the employer would have been upset about that.

Oh yeah.

I’m sure that she didn’t send a text message requesting a week off, without her employer sending a follow up text.

At the very least.

It isn't always the bf, husband, fiance etc.

It very well could have been a co worker, friend, former or current student etc.

Most employers have an emergency contact for their employees, just thought of that reading your post. Wonder if hers was PF and they did reach out to him about her last minute request. If it was her mother she would have been reported missing sooner, imo. LE putting the pieces together and would know that information.

Does anyone have knowledge that KB had ever met any of PF's family?

But why wouldn't the fiancée she SHARES custody with not report her missing?!?!?
