Interesting move by CA prosecutors during death penalty "reprieve"...

Newsom's reprieve lasts only so long as he is governor and does not prevent prosecutors from seeking nor judges and juries from imposing death sentences.

DeAngelo has yet to enter a plea and his trial is likely years away.
Prosecutors WILL seek death penalty if Joe DeAngelo, 73, is convicted as Golden State Killer | Daily Mail Online

ETA: Colorado has new governor that is seeking reprieve and/or abolishing DP. I wonder if Prosecutor for PF will follow the lead of CA prosecutor or if there's legislation here that will prevent this?

@Seattle1, do you have a lot of threads open at this time, and have done what many of us have done and posted in the wrong thread?
Actually, I thought the CA prosecutor seeking DP during reprieve was relevant to conversation about Colorado and the new governor, and whether or not Prosecutor will seek DP for PF.

Good point, thanks! I had just come from the Golden State killer thread, and that was in my mind.

Re: custody of Baby K

One (I hope) good thing to come out of the delays and PF's continued no-bond incarceration: less contact with Baby K. If it really does take a year or more to go to trial, I hope it makes it more likely that the Berreths eventually get full custody.

That said...given how quickly SF moved to try to get custody of Baby K, I'm kind of surprised she hasn't tried to take legal action to get visitation rights for PF and herself.

?? I'm guessing her attorney has advised taking any action at this time?

I agree that it is probably her attorney urging her to lay low for now. She took the 5th in this murder trial. I dont think any judge is going to give her custody or visitation until they figure out how much of a role she had, if any, in the murder of that child's mother.

I'm also thinking, it's something in connection with one of the guns, a swab inside or outside of them. If the object was found in ID (not CO), it would make the most sense, IMO. Guns and knife handles are always mentioned re consumptive testing.

And can be such a nice treasure trove of information.

Agree, especially since baby K is in another state too.

Any news out there on the landfill search?

Any news out there on the landfill search?
They were about 40% through the search, 45 or so days in.

I’m not sure if the pace will change, but at that rate, there will still be just over a month to go until they finish.

No update since last week.

Yes If it perhaps is a swab from one of the guns, KK would of thought to wipe it down on the outside , don't think she would of thought of swabbing the barrel with a gun cleaner, if there was quite a bit of blood so many parts that a speck could of gotten in, it always puzzled me why she gave the gun away, when she could of easily tossed it in the gorge, unless she intended on getting it back someday or PF wanted it back at some point . As bad as shooting KB would have been, it is a easier thing to process than beating her with a baseball bat.
The gun scenario is still speculation as a lot of what we imagine or assume is, but it makes more common sense with PF insisting if KK would not take the body then she had to take the gun. Why he would even think about getting rid of her gun, just leave it in the condo, especially since KB had told her mom she got her gun back and they went target shooting the night and early morning preceding her death. A puzzle with so many missing pieces and multiple folks that knew where the box was and had handled the pieces.

I believe he wanted to make it look like Kelsey had taken the gun with her and committed suicide.
KK told investigators that he planned to make it look like she had gone somewhere to "off herself." Imo

Thanks MG. I couldn’t find anything in the news about updates. But let the searchers take their time. I really feel there is something there.

Of course, there are so many caves and cliffs in the Rockies that she could be anywhere. I just feel he isn’t smart enough to get past the landfill. Of course, there was that interview with his old girlfriend and he told her he knew where to hide bodies so no one would find them.

He is quite the monster, isn’t he? Anyone who has a conscience would have told LE where the body is. That’s why we know he doesn’t have a conscience.

There are so many scenarios of what the consumptive testing could be.
If LE/FBI did a good search in KB’s condo the last time they were there, they had to find some serious blood evidence.

It doesn’t matter how much bleach KK used, if blood was everywhere, as she said, then she had to miss cleaning some of it.

And maybe LE found great evidence at PFs home. I keep thinking about the teeth they found.

I can’t see this being about the gun. But you may be onto something.

Seems it may be a year or two before we ever find out.

Yes, I like shoelaces! Never crossed my mind. I also wonder what PF did with all HIS bloody clothes and shoes. Someone upthread mentioned it looked like he was wearing sneakers in the Walmart video. KK doesn't mention packing them up or bloody clothes, just curtains, pillows, stuffed animal, etc. I wonder if he kept them for the "bonfire" or if he already dumped them somewhere? Is there a video of him throwing something in a dumpster locally on the 22nd or 23rd? Hmmmm.

I thought LE took his boots. Was he wearing shoes with laces on 11/22?

In the Walmart camera photo he had on tennis shoes that would have shoe laces, LE did take 3 pair of boots, will have to look back at the search warrant and see if they took tennis shoes.
EBM :SW lists them as being hiking type shoes or work boots, they appaear to be light weight tennis shoe type hikers IMO.

Re: laces.

The search warrant took two pairs of size 12 Columbia (or Khombu) boots. Most, if not all, Columbia boots are lace-ups, not cowboy boots - hikers, hunters, ranchers, outdoor folks all wear them.

Re: the mystery consumptive testing item

One guess? Blood on PF's boots. KK mentioned bloody footprints all over the apartment. If you look at a picture of an 'average' Columbia boot, between the sole, laces, stitched bits and eyelets, there are a LOT of places on the boots where he could have missed something in clean-up.

I have faith that some suspicious tidbits of evidence may have already been discovered in the landfill and await testing.

There would be no reason to make announcements to the press since no "body" has been found.

The time will come when all relative evidence must be revealed to the defense but that time has not come.

And remember they now have chemicals that show blood was present even after it has ALL been cleaned up.
