That’s so sad to hear they did not find Kelsey’s remains during the landfill search. As awful as it would have been, at least they would have some physical evidence and perhaps it would have been some consolation to Kelsey’s family. My heart goes out to them.

Off topic: I came here looking for Sam Kraemer’s name because of the school situation today in Denver ... my grandchildren live there, and it’s always a concern any time there is a lockdown or cancelation of school, especially this close to the Columbine anniversary. Thankfully, law enforcement were on top of this one.

Well, that is certainly not good news.
I remain optimistic that even though they didn't find Kelsey's body in the landfill, they may have found other relevant evidence and have chosen not to reveal that to the public yet.

I don't think anyone expected them to find "a body". MOO

That’s certainly surprising, not so much that they didn’t find anything (although I was optimistic), but the fact that it’s over already.

I calculated there being about a month left.

Authorities finish searching landfill for Kelsey Berreth; no remains found
FOUNTAIN, Colo. — Authorities have finished searching for the remains of Kelsey Berreth in a landfill south of Colorado Springs. Her body was not found, the Woodland Park Police Department said via Facebook Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators also did not find evidence related to Berreth’s death.

[...]

WPPD Chief Miles De Young said that a lack of items like discarded mail and local newspapers led him to believe continuing the search would be imprudent.

“This is not the outcome that we hoped for, but we knew going into this search that there was a chance we would not locate Kelsey or evidence related to her disappearance,” De Young said in a press release.

[...]

The investigation into Berreth’s disappearance remains open. Local, state and federal authorities are involved.

"Based on a lack of items such as discarded mail, local newspapers and typical ranch debris that comes out of the transfer station in Divide, Colorado, I do not believe it is prudent to continue," De Young said.

Woodland Park Police end landfill search in Kelsey Berreth case
[...]

The department said that prior to conducting the search, NecroSearch International narrowed the search area to 135′ x 32′ x 13.25′ Law enforcement officials and other experts have completed a highly detailed search of an area approximately 65′ x 32′ x 13′ deep with no success, according to Woodland Park Police. This was the primary search area identified by NecroSearch International as having the highest probability of locating evidence relating to Kelsey’s disappearance.

The department said investigators are continuing to work on additional leads in the case and follow up interviews.

Yeah, this makes sense. If you find materials that are dated around the time period that you believe a body has been dumped, then you know you are probably digging in the right spot.

Anything with an address on it would be key as well.

Without these materials, you are probably searching an unrelated location.

Despite the fact that the search did not yield the results we hoped for, the searchers are to be commended for their efforts to locate KB's remains.

Credit to the WPPD for committing their time, financial resources, manpower and emotional energy to the search.

Petition started seeking additional charges in Kelsey Berreth murder case

SFA:
On April 11 supporters of justice for Berreth created an online petition to request the Attorney General of Colorado and the federal Office on Violence Against Women file federal charges of conspiracy to commit murder against Kenney, as well as other conspirators she named in the testimony she gave to investigators.

Organizers of the petition, which was created less than a week ago and already has almost 1,700 supporters, plan on forwarding the petition, notes and comments to the Attorney General of Colorado’s Office on May 2.

Interesting. FWIW, per this article there's a petition circulating requesting federal charges be filed against KK.
This is really strange. As long as KK abides by the plea agreement, she can't face additional state charges. And we don't know if that plea agreement included federal charges as well.

Darn I had hopes. LE tried hard. So who gave LE the info??? Did KKL give them the info? Or was it from some evidence? And where could her body be? IMO there are more involved then KKL or Ma Frazee.

I think there had to be some outside evidence that indicated that Kelsey’s body was in that landfill.

According to KK’s account, even she wasn’t sure of what PF did with the remains.

Yeah the defense will have a hard time convincing a jury that KB wanted to “separate ways” or to get away and think, after hearing she spent a night helping him with his cows and going to buy medicine for him in the wee hours of the morning with her baby girl!

However, for those of us on WS, if we had to spend a few hours with PF we would surely be running for the hills. What a selfish monster he is.

ETA: I’m proud of CB and her strength. She sunk PF for sure.

If CB had not gone into KB's home and found a drop of blood and re-contacted LE, who knows what would've happened.

I think, the petition is mainly written re the female crew around KKL, then also re KKL of course. IMO

Unthinkable! KB were still "going to visit her ill grandmother" or something ....

JUST IN: Woodland Park Police have concluded their search of the Midway Landfill. They did not find Kelsey Berreth’s remains. @KOAA #KelseyBerreth #PatrickFrazee #KrystalKenney

I understand their reasoning, heartbreaking nonetheless. Praying for comfort for KB’s family.

Praying for swift justice for KB.

It's very disheartening to me. I'm afraid the only way they will ever find her remains or the evidence burned with it is if PF himself reveals the location. Jmo

RSABBM:

The fact that KB's remains weren't located during the search doesn't mean her remains aren't in the landfill. They may just be outside of the search area that NecroSearch identified as the most likely spot.

The fact that no evidence was found whatsoever related to the ranch, e.g., discarded mail, newspapers, etc., leads me to believe they were not in fact looking precisely in the correct location. Given the monumental nature of the task, that is not at all a criticism of their efforts or their methods. It's not an exact science. The success rate isn't 100% for NecroSearch.

Chief De Young made the judgment call that based on the fact that there was absolutely no evidence to indicate they were searching in the right area, it did not make sense to continue the search.

IMO, that was the right decision, difficult as I'm sure it was for him to make.

Everyone knew going into it that it was a needle-haystack situation.
Despite that fact, I believed KB's remains would be found, particularly given NecroSearch's involvement and expertise in these types of searches.

This news today is both sad and disappointing.
Particularly since I believe her remains are in fact (still) located in that landfill.

JMO.
