ITA. I'm not excusing his actions. But he was likely going to be a suspect whether he appealed to the media or not.
Sure. But he’s made things a lot worse.

These were self inflicted wounds.

He didn’t even have to stand in front of cameras. He just had to do something.

I don't follow a lot of cases, but this is also the first time I've seen this behavior. Most perps want to give the impression of being oh, so cooperative with police. Most try to act like they miss the missing person. IMHO.
PF comes from a LE family. So do I....... LE laughs amongst themselves at "suspected people" who "talk " to them..... PF has gave them his phone and DNA and is doing the right thing to protect himself, innocent or guilty, by not talking to anyone....MOO

No, this is not true. What we know is that CB inquired with PK on Dec 2. Then she was told by PK of the text to him, dated Nov 25. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
Go back and listen to the first press conference.
-Kelsey and her mom talked on the phone on Nov 22nd.
-Kelsey's mom called police for a wellness check at Kelsey's duplex on Nov 25th.
-Patrick and Kelsey's mom had some type of communication on Nov 25th.
-Kelsey's brother goes to Kelsey's duplex on Dec. 2nd and finds only her purse and keys missing.
-Missing person report filed at this time.

My Polish Lowland Sheepdog was a herder. Lacking sheep, I found him "herding" kids at the seashore. He didn't want them going into the ocean!
I absolutely LOVE the image of this!!!:D

I would assume he has disclosed to and through his attorney any positives or negatives and all accurate knowledge he is aware.

I also assume since the Police have been quoted as starting he has been cooperative with their investigation. All information regarding this case has been disclosed.

In my opinion the public does not have entitlement to information on this case. The more information that is released the more of a frenzy things become.
Emph. mine

You're right about the public not being entitled to any information about this case; doing so could endanger the outcome.

At the beginning of Kelsey's disappearance, this was stated by LE; that is correct.

However later on as this unfolded and she is still vanished... the only statements made by the fiance (if they are still engaged at this time, which was questioned in a past thread here) have been carefully crafted messages through his atty.
To our knowledge here at WS, he has not made any attempt to sit down and speak to LE --as is his right.
Just so off-putting; imo.

And for some reason unknown to us.... LE have zeroed in on him.
And most likely not b/c he never reported her missing; but possibly additional information we're not privy to.

Colorado police plead for Kelsey Berreth’s fiancé to speak with them as hunt for missing mom intensifies
“We are asking Patrick to sit down with investigators since he is the last person to speak to Kelsey face to face based on our investigation,” Woodland Park Police Chief Miles De Young said at an afternoon press conference. De Young labeled the disappearance “suspicious,” adding that law enforcement does not believe that Berreth is purposely avoiding location.
Again with the "PLEADING". :(

The authorities aren't exactly brow beating him. They're asking.

All he has to do is to say how his day went the time she vanished , etc.
IF she had a new bf or anything else-- why wouldn't he disclose that ?
It'd take eyes off him.

All that he's said through his atty. was that she was visiting a relative at Soap Lake--- which by now LE would have checked this story.
So sad !

That was a quick visit. Less than an hour.
This is concerning. The original search was supposed to be 3 days and wasn’t even 48 hours...

I have to be honest, when I first saw how he was avoiding the press, I really expected that someone was going to come forward claiming they were having an affair with him and that's why he was keeping his mouth shut.

His own attorney hasn't even stated, "My client is not guilty in the disappearance of Kelsey Berreth."

IMO, PF was in a no-win situation from the second KB was reported missing. You're absolutely right, if he had been open with LE and the news media, many people would still believe he was guilty simply because he's the SO. Whether he agreed to interviews or not wouldn't make any difference.
Some people, yes. But some of us do take things other than being the SO and the last to see someone into consideration as well.

Try to go outside your house when a storm is approaching and your Border Collie is outside. You can't. Everyone must stay in "the barn".

IMO it shows a huge lack of impulse control and lack of empathy. The same people who hit their pets also are very likely to hit their spouses
Does PF own any pets? All I have seen are ranch animals, working animals.

Yes, he could've been open to LE... not necessarily to anyone else.
But he couldn't manage even that.

I wanted to say -- if LE clears him, that will be enough for me. Then I'd look into other possibilities ; such as a stranger abduction, etc.
But LE have said they cannot rule him out as a suspect.
Speaks volumes; imo.

That’s certainly likely.

But it’s the fact that he didn’t report her missing, coupled with no effort to publicize her disappearance, that really makes me suspicious.

Getting a lawyer and not talking to the police, is bothersome, but not as bad as the former.

I haven’t seen this behavior before, not from an innocent man atleast.

This is the thing! Sure, plenty of guilty people have behaved differently than he is behaving, but I can’t ever recall an innocent person (who was in such close proximity/shared deep intimacy with the victim) who behaved the same way he is. It’s difficult to grasp how someone could make that sequence of choices and not be concealing guilt, though that doesn’t make it absolutely impossible either.

Whoa.
Oh what a tangled web we weave.
So which is it?
He picked the baby up at her place, or she dropped the baby off his place?
Seems the time and space continueum has been defied. That's bigger than landing on the moon.
BBM

Oh, yes.
So many versions--- where are they all coming from ?
It looks like PF told KB's family varying versions.
Can't pin this all on the reporters or media articles. MOO

Send one of his relatives to Websleuths to post disinformation and when banned or put on time out, make another account to continue the disinformation.

Which I believe has happened.. I know the usernames(s)

Several news articles early on indicated there was a welfare check on Nov. 25. LE has not said those reports were in error so some of us choose to believe they are accurate. JMO

I tried to be objective about it and was doing a decent job of keeping neutral until that article yesterday where people were talking about all his bad qualities. When I was in law school I took some trial advocacy classes and we would have to argue a case from both sides, so I try to do that in my head when I read about cases like this. I'm still trying to look at the case from all angles, but I'm definitely not hanging out in Switzerland anymore.

And does that make the animals any more deserving to be abused?

Pommy can you confirm this as well? I thought I had read that CB called PF on the 25th, but I was unable to find a decent timeline anywhere. Not casting shadows on your post Granny, just want to be absolutely sure. :)
