Police said Christopher Waide, 23, is cooperating and assisting in the search for her body. He is also charged with sexual assault and is being held at the Adams County jail.

Margarita, I've been wondering about that, too. I know that two teens ran away in Canon City from the "Fremont County Rants and Raves" fb page. It sounds like a Romeo and Juliette situation, and the parents are sparring online.

How far is this from his apartment? So, he killed her there and then took her back to his place to dump (ugh) her in the apartment dumpster? Why would he transport her instead of leaving her body somewhere at the park?

I haven't looked up the distance, but in this article it mentions where his apartment is:
"Waide's car, which had been in the parking lot of his home in the Park Place at 92nd Apartments, had already been impounded and searched."

Very creepy. I bet the cops knew what happened pretty quickly, but needed the evidence. He is not a very convincing liar.
