This is so sad. First of all what parent leaves a 5 year old alone to run to the grocery store?
Also, growing marijuana.......this is a very strange story and I am afraid something has happened to the parents and sibling.
I hope they are found soon.

....relatives found the 5-year-old girl in the home's front yard by herself Monday evening. The girl told police that her family were going to the grocery store that morning, but they never returned.

... relatives called police soon after the girl was found and told authorities they're not sure why the couple would take off

The 5-year-old remains with the family's relatives.

....police executed a search warrant at the home and found an illegal marijuana grow

Thornton police seek family who disappeared, leaving 5-year-old home alone

Why would the parents leave the 5 year old but take the 2 year old with them?? If they were going to the grocery store, why couldn't one of the parents go and the other would stay at home with the kids? If they were doing something illegal (a drug deal?), why would they take a kid with them at all?

I wonder if its just a personal grow or a large sellable quantity.
Can people get marijuana in colorado at a store or do they still have to purchase by a private grower?

In case you don't know, you need to be verified. I've noticed that takes a bit to do here now but do it.

Willing to hear what you have to say but unverified are considered so so otherwise. tia jmo (thanks in advance & just my opinion)

Link to get verified is here Verified Professional and Insider Members

Welcome to WS!
It is nice that you got the above mentioned link for verification already, however please consider when this is needed.
There is no need to verify if you just post some information about the town or surrounding (so called local). If you know the family and want to add your knowledge that can not be substantiated by msm or le link, you shall be verified.
For posting any hearsay, there is no difference if verified, these are not allowed according to TOS.

In Colorado it can be purchased at a dispensary or 6 plants can be grown per adult for personal use.

How far away is the nearest grocery store? I wonder if they could have had an accident on route (in either direction), and they have not yet been discovered. Any dangerous road sections? Crossing/passing a body of water along the way?

If the family took off, IMO they would take the older child as well.

ETA: I checked the address and terrain doesn't seem to be an issue.

Is this the same family that owns that nail salon by chuze fitness? The man looks very familiar.

There are lots of stores in that area. I have a feeling this may have been a drug deal gone wrong. Mj is not illegal but LE said the found an illegal mj growing situation. If they are mentioning that then I am assuming it was large enough to distribute. They didn't take the 5 year old because she can understand and Talk they probably left the 5 year old thinking she can't watch the 2year old. I think they had every intention to come back.

I could see people trying to sell mj illegally especially if this is the nail salon family I think they are. The salons are all closed and people are losing a lot of money.

The grocery store is right up the road. No bodies of water to pass for the closes 3 grocery stores and no dangerous roads or anything like that.

I assume all the info is coming from the 5 year old. My first thought was that they aren’t voluntarily missing but were taken or forced to leave. The 2 year old may have been physically close to mom or dad and forced to go with them and the elder girl in another room, or in the back yard at the time. Was she actually told by a parent that they were going to the grocery store? It would be an easy assumption for her to make. Especially if she has been told they were going to the grocery in previous occasions. It doesn’t make sense that they intentionally left one child, imo

This is a mile away from me. Hmmm the whole thing is odd. It is all residential housing around here. Where we live is a golf course and a small pond. The police were looking into cars on my street. MIL owns a sketchy looking truck and the police were checking inside and drove off this morning. Hopefully some answers are found. There is a lot of walking trails and another bigger pond not far from here. Just thinking of weird places. I think it’s very strange to just leave your 5 yr old but take the toddler to the store at this time with covid 19. Seems fishy to me.
