Police searching for vehicle linked to Colorado homicide case

Police are asking for the public to be on the lookout for an abandoned vehicle believed to be linked to a Colorado homicide investigation. The 2016 Jeep Renegade with Colorado plate OSC 909 was allegedly used by Edgar Macias-Moreno, 24, in connection with the death of 27-year-old Madelaine Loh. Her body was recovered in Millard County. Authorities believe the vehicle may be in the San Rafael Desert and may have been set on fire.

Fight over money led to killing, suspect says

Rather disturbing picture painted of this guy and his actions.

And don't really believe he is telling the truth about her also being fired for stealing money.

As if what he did to her wasn't horrific enough, intentionally putting the dog in danger alone would show his depravity.

Forgive me please... I have arthritis fingers and a dog in my lap, and having a difficult time copying excerpts from article!

What Macias-Moreno told investigators:
  • He and Loh had been dating about a year.
  • They were both fired from their jobs at a cannabidiol extraction farm because the owner suspected they had stolen money from the business. The business' owner presented them with a "big figure" of the money they owed back to her.
  • He and Loh were fighting on the night of June 18 or June 19 while moving their belongings out of the trailer, which was parked on the farm. Loh punched him in the back and threw her cellphone at him. He told Loh to stop but she didn't. He grabbed Loh by her neck and strangled her while pinning her down on the bed in the camper.

and he's going to say this was self-defense??!! At least he admitted killing her. I don't know why his attorney said he would plead not guilty. Or am I thinking of another case??!!

Thanks a bunch @cybervampira for info on the article! Much appreciated. And sorry, didn't mean to call you a "bot" the other day! :)

No problem!

He actually said her striking him did not hurt him because "she is little". After noticing she does not have a pulse, he didn't attempt to perform CPR. After letting the dog go and dumping her body in fetal position in Millard County, he sat with her for several minutes, cried and told her he was sorry.

I don't think this will be a self-defense case.

New Details In Death Of Hotchkiss Woman

He told the investigator he and Loh had been fighting because they had both been fired from their jobs after being accused by their employer of stealing money. He said they were arguing on June 19 in the camper they lived in about who would pay the money back, when Loh started hitting him. He said that at that point he turned around and "I grabbed her by the neck and I didn't stop."

He then proceeded to say he eventually put Loh's body in the front seat of her Jeep Renegade and drove off, also taking Loh's dog with him. He said somewhere between Delta and Grand Junction he put the dog out of the car. The dog was later found wandering on Highway 50.

At some point during the day on June 20th, he said he pulled off of I-15 about 20 miles south of Scipio, UT, drove for about a mile down a road, and then left Loh's body uncovered behind a tree stump and then he drove to St. George, UT.

He then told investigators he tried to kill himself by setting the car on fire with him inside it, but could not go through with it, and returned home to his family, and then decided to confess what he did.

Macias-Moreno is facing 10 felony and misdemeanor charges, including First Degree Murder, Second Degree Kidnapping, Concealing Death, and Cruelty To Animals.

Has hearing on 7/11

According to case information, Macias Moreno, 24, was dating Loh, 27.

On or about June 19, the pair began fighting over money their former employer wanted repaid. They were also facing eviction from their camping trailer.

Delta County Sheriff’s Office investigators said in an arrest affidavit that Macias Moreno admitted grabbing Loh by the neck during an altercation and strangling her for about five minutes, until he realized she wasn’t breathing.

Macias-Moreno then allegedly put Loh’s body into her vehicle and drove it down U.S. 50. Along the way, he put Loh’s dog out of the vehicle with an apology, the affidavit states.

The dog was later found safe, but because he allegedly abandoned the animal, Macias-Moreno also is charged with cruelty to animals. He is further charged with concealing a death.

Sorry, really good article....and long so...

On June 27, Macias-Moreno returned to Delta County and went to the sheriff’s office. Investigators said he admitted he had killed Loh and “laid her between Las Vegas and Utah,” before heading to the gambling capital and betting away the last of his money.

After that, Macias-Moreno begged enough cash for gas and drove back toward Delta, stopping along the way to try to find Loh’s body, according to information in his arrest affidavit.

When he could not, Macias-Moreno attempted to kill himself by burning Loh’s vehicle, but got out of it when the heat became too intense, investigators said in the document. He also reportedly contemplated jumping off a cliff.
