The father's lawyer has stated the father is going to seek custody of his daughter.

The dad told the judge he'd pay support for the little girl but he never wanted to see her or be any part of her life. Some kind of Dad huh????
Maybe since the child's mother is missing the dad feels he should finally step up and raise her. Or he just doesn't want to pay that high child support he has been paying. It does give him motive to want Mom out of the way. His not cooperating is a glaring red flag. He should fess up to every step he took on that day to help his daughter. How could he look his daughter in the eye when she is say 14 and tell her he refused to help the LE? To me that would take a cold heart.

By the sounds of it he has no intention of even knowing his daughter when she is 14 yrs old. He doesn't want her. He told the judge that he doesn't want her and has no intention of being any part of her life. Did he say that when him and Nonnie went to court over child support and since Nonnie is missing has he changed his mind or something? I know I read an article where he said that he is perfectly happy with the baby being with Nonnie's mother. From what I've read about him I hope that he doesn't want that baby. He's in his 50's and he likes women in their 20's and thinks he is quite the stud. I don't think that his lifestyle would accomodate a baby.

The family of an Air Force nurse missing since Nov. 19 is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to her whereabouts, the television station ABC 7 in Denver reported.

First Lt. Nonnie Dotson, 33, an intensive-care nurse at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, disappeared while on leave at her brother’s home in Littleton, Colo.

Dotson was last seen when she left the house to go shopping with friends.

She left her 16-month-old daughter in the care of her brother Tony Dotson for what was supposed to be only a few hours.

The search has spanned Texas and Colorado, but authorities have found no trace of her.

Family members of missing Air Force nurse Nonnie Dotson will be in a San Antonio courtroom Thursday fighting to retain custody of her toddler child.

They will be opposed by Edward Vehle, 53, whom Dotson never married but who is the father of the couple's 18-month-old daughter, Savannah.

Nonnie Dotson's brother Tony Dotson, of south Jefferson County, doubts Vehle sincerely wants to be a father to the little girl.

Savannah has lived with her maternal grandparents in California since her mother vanished.

"The thing is . . . he's not ready," Tony Dotson said of Vehle. "He had said to Nonnie before, 'I'll raise her. I'll give her to my sister and then I won't have to pay any child support.' "

Vehle was ordered Sept. 21 by a Bexar County, Texas, judge to pay Dotson $10,000 of back child support plus $900 monthly until Savannah is 18 years old.

Vehle's attorney did not return calls Tuesday seeking comment.

Sounds like playboy dad wants to get out of his child support obligations. I don't see him as a single parent considering his lifestyle. The daughter would most likely be raised by the paternal aunt or a nanny. I wonder if he would do something real drastic to get out of his child support order?

This is why the guy is fighting for custody, IMO. I know that it has been stated that he can prove that he was in Texas the day of Nonnie's disappearance, but I still have a nagging suspicion that he may be involved...

His total child support outlay over the 18 years is $188,000.

Doesn't sound like much to murder for, does it? Maybe, he's not involved. However, I'm still suspicious. It just seems awfully coincidental.

Shoot, in New Iberia, they'll kill you to get your tennis shoes, and in New ORleans it takes much less than that. $188K is ALOT of money to some people.

I don't want to deny any father the right to raise his child(ren), but this guy's motives do not seem sincere at all. If he really wanted what's best for this little girl, whom by the way he owes $10k (that alone is a strong indicator of how he feels about this child IMO), he'd let her stay where she is at now, and get a good visitation schedule. Then after a couple of years of that, if he really wants her, he can try for custody again - but I doubt that would happen. He'd get sick of it before then. I hope and pray for very wise and honest judges, tomorrow.

I thought that I had read that this guy was wealthy. Plus, if he only had to support the child until she was 18 years old, he was getting off easy. College is very expensive!

Texas courts decided Thursday that custody of a young girl who was left alone after her mother disappeared will be temporarily granted to the grandparents.

Nonnie Dotson, an Air Force nurse from Texas, disappeared nearly two months ago while on a trip to visit family in Jefferson County, Colorado.

The woman's 18-month-old daughter, Savannah, has been living with her grandparents in California since November.

On Thursday, the girl's father and Dotson's ex-boyfriend, Edward Vehle, was in a San Antonio courtroom for a custody hearing. The courts previously had to order Vehle, who has never met Savannah, to pay child support.

Dotson's parents said they believe Vehle is fighting for full custody of Savannah so he won't have to pay child support.

A judge granted full custody to the grandparents, at least temporarily, and gave Vehle 12 supervised visits for with Savannah. From that point Vehle can pursue a full custody battle.

Dotson's family called Thursday's ruling a "personal victory."

It will be interesting to see if the sperm donar actually keeps his visitation with the baby. I'll bet that he doesn't. If I were the grandparents I would have him visit in my home...if he even visits...and I would have a camera set up in the frontroom. He has no interest in that baby. I'll be shocked if he visits more then once if that.

He should leave the baby with Nonnie's family. She is familiar with them and if he takes her she would be with total strangers that have had no interest in her for the past 18 months. His never even having seen her before should tell the judge something.

I guess there is no news of Nonnie. I still believe that she met someone on line or at the bar that night and met up with him when she said she was going to get what ever that was to drink the day she disappeared. There is just no way she would have just taken off and left her baby behind.

I hope they looked into those singleparents websites she was on the same day she went missing. Possibly someone she was talking to on there was going to meet her that day? Some sicko?.. Poor lady so beautiful I hope she is found safe but you know it dont look good at all. I know exactly where she worked Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio Texas is where I was flown too when my son was born premature I stayed there for 4 months and gained many friends there who were air force nurses I still email and talk on the phone to them. I wonder what is being said amongst the co-workers?... I havent asked but that is because this is the first time I ever heard of this case.

Since the baby's father had no interest at all in her, IMO if he had a hand in Nonnies disappearance he also would have had the baby disappear. Just having the mother go away would not have stopped his obligations.
I'm glad the grandparents have been given custody for now and hope one day they can find out what happened to Nonnie.

January 29, 2007)--The parents of an Air Force nurse who vanished in Colorado say they believe someone abducted her, and is now holding her against her will.

Candice Dotson and Kevin Doyle told CBS' "The Early Show" Monday there's no way Nonnie Dotson would leave her little girl, Savannah, no matter what might've been happening.

if (self['plpm'] && plpm['Mid-Story Ad']) document.write('');if (self['plpm'] && plpm['Mid-Story Ad']){ document.write(plpm['Mid-Story Ad']);} else { if(self['plurp'] && plurp['97']){} else {document.write(''); } }if (self['plpm'] && plpm['Mid-Story Ad']) document.write('');The 33-year-old nurse from Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio hasn't been seen or heard from since she left her brother's home in Littleton, Colorado, on Nov. 19.

She went out for a smoothie, and never came back.

A $10,000 reward is offered for information leading to her safe return.

Her parents say they've been told that leads in the case have grown cold.

Anyone with information about Dotson is asked to call the Jefferson County, Colorado, Sheriff's Department at 303-271-5612

I saw that too.... too bad FoxNews can't get their 'intro' right though:
Cops try to generate leads in search for Colorado Air Force mom Nonnie Dotson, daughter Savannah.
They have it right in the story. :slap:

Maybe good to put out there that there is a $10,000 reward offered for information leading to Nonnie's whereabouts. Anyone with info can call Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, at 303.271.5612.

And finally, I am so happy Nonnie's parents got custody of Savannah. Now we'll see if Vehle will pay any attention to the little girl (my bet is that he won't, at least not for long). Prayers to this family!
