Does anyone know if the shooter just randomly shot at the student(s)? I know he was likely targeting a specific teacher. TIA

Sheriff also said that protocols that have been developed have been used far, far to many times in Colorado and across the country.

Sheriff just announced his retirement.

He will give another pressed at 6pm. He said that it will not be in the intersection. There was light laughter from the press. I know this is a very serious and tragic situation, but I like this Sheriff's personality. Seems like he is hitting the ground running when it comes to a thourough investigation to discover what happened to pursue justice and add to research to be used to develop protocols. :Moo:

Senior Summer on CNN in parent authorized audio interview...

She isn't worried right now who the student is that did this. She wants to know if all of her friends are okay. Still hasn't heard from all her friends. All of the students still haven't left the school. Summer hoping that the community can come together to put this behind them.

"Fabian, an Arapahoe High School janitor, says he saw the shooter right before he entered the school.

"I was turning the corner when I saw a kid running into the north side of the building," he said. "He was kind of running side-to-side, military-style, when I saw that, I double looked to see if it was a gun. It looked like a shotgun. So, right away I got on the radio to alert everyone."

This janitor quite literally saved God only knows how many lives due to his immediate actions taken upon seeing this armed student.

When we outlaw firearms in our society; like Japan did. Semi Auto's any Auto's and parents need to lock up their ammo and their weapons. BE RESPONSIBLE!

I hope that didn't happen with this family; but look somehow this child was able to get a gun. Shooter ID as Male per cnn and scanner info airing live.

I feel horrific; and I think the info on cnn about a teacher being wounded has not been correct or not substantiated yet...

Still sweeping the whole entire area; in case there was more than one shooter; in case others were involved. It is an AMAZING FACT that LE was IN the school in 15 minutes. That is something else, let me just say. I feel so ill about this. I'm sure all of you do as well. Like the former LE office on cnn said; someone may have known "he" may have written about what he was going to do; so they are trying to "round up"

Question was: "When will this stop?" And Chelly answered "When we outlaw firearms" which I personally feel is a flawed theory/concept. And here's why.
Guns aren't something new that has entrenched our society in the USA. They've been around for a couple of hundred years. They were a staple of many a young man out West during farming, gold-mining, and cattle rearing ranchers. Gun safes, locks, and laws weren't better or stricter way back then. We've sent many a young man soldier off to war with a gun in his hand.

But what has changed to our society during the last decade or so that would be a causative factor?
We have TV, internet, video games, social media outlets, and a higher divorce rate. We have extended families now. We also have a decline in religion (and I'm not extolling the virtues of religion; just facts), and we have in the USA a greater disparity between the wealthy and the poor. Additionally, we've had various modes of childrearing become popular every few decades as well, some strict and then some lassaiz faire. We tend to overvaccinate our kids and our food is loaded with preservatives and genetically modified artifacts.

We have many new possible influencers to this sudden rise in young men shooting guns in public places but access to guns seems to be the least of those factors, imo.

There's much more going on than just simply "guns"......

Also talks about how it was the librarian (identified by name) who was the target. She was the debate team coach, and had previously kicked the shooter off the team for unspecified reasons.
