Not sure if this has anything to do with our case(s) here, but making a note just in case due to the proximity:

Investigated Shooting Update
On April 10, 2016 at approximately 6:15 pm the Weld County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 29000 block of WCR 20 on a call of a reported shooting. When deputies arrived on scene they found a 12 year old male patient who had been shot in the side by a .22 caliber bullet. The patient was taken to Children’s Hospital in Aurora by ambulance.
A thorough investigation of this incident was carried out by the Weld County Sheriff’s Office and we found that the shooting was a result of a self-inflicted, accidental weapons discharge that occurred while hunting. The investigation is ongoing, but no person has been charged criminally.
We are happy to announce that the patient is in stable condition at Children’s Hospital in Aurora. Further updates on the patient’s injuries or recovery will not be released by the Sheriff’s Office.
There is no threat to the safety of the public.

The recreational shooting season does seem to have started in Colorado. Several outlets covered the story below of an attack on a motorist, but added no detail, and made no reference to the NoCO attacks. Some described the shooting as "apparently random", but unlike "our" NoCO window shatterings, it is already clear that bullets were involved, and the area is pretty far from the incidents we have focused on. Canon, CO is a 35 mile drive southwest of Colorado Springs, and a little over 100 miles from Denver.

April 11, 2016

"On April 9, 2016 Fremont County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to St Thomas More Hospital regarding a report of a shooting. The victim, a 31-year old male, reported that he had been driving in the north part of Canon City that morning when he heard a loud “bang”. One of his vehicle windows was shattered, and the victim realized that he was injured. The victim was able to drive to the hospital to seek medical help. Emergency room personnel confirmed that the victim had been shot by a bullet of unknown caliber. The victim was in stable condition at the time of the report.
Fremont Detectives responded to assist patrol deputies in the matter, and the investigation is currently on-going."

I saw this one Forager and I'm not sure what to make of it...Canon City is pretty small but it's up against a cliff-face so I suppose it's possible...if they had the sound detection system it would be a perfect place to determine the location of the shooter...IDK I'm thinking criminal mischief on this one IMO...the semi crash this morning however is, if I am not mistaken, located on the northern end of your map ... close to the northern-most shooting/shattering incident?

I agree that the window shattering in Canon is probably just part of the "background noise" of naturally occurring jackassery we've been seeing in lots of the country.

I'll be interested to see if more comes out about this morning's semi crash. The Romero shooting aside, it's been remarkable how little physical harm has come from any of the window shattering incidents. I've often wondered how many of them were one foot away from a crash, or one bad reaction away from a rollover.

We're coming up on the anniversary of the shootings. The Romero shooting was last year tomorrow.

Town of Windsor sponsors community 5k in memory of John Jacoby.
Allison Dyer Bluemel

As the late John Jacoby can no longer ride about town fundraising for his favorite charities, his brother and Athletes in Tandem will host Johnny’s Community Run 5K Run/Walk to raise funds.

The race is scheduled for 9 a.m. April 23 at Boardwalk Park... .

Thanks everyone for the latest updates. I agree this latest one could be typical idiots shooting at someone since it is not as close to Denver as the the normal chain we had. We will have to keep an eye out as anniversary approaches.

Glad task force is still together but instead of talking about all the money for the lease how about telling us if they made any progress or are they just holed up there getting paychecks.

Thanks everyone

Also from your link, thanks so much for posting Forager, we miss you FHG!!! Get your arse back here we miss you!

"The Windsor Town Board agreed to sponsor the event — waiving $1,750 per day of fees — in order to promote the community effort.

The waiver includes items such as the $200 park rental charge, $400 per day use of show stage and $75 fee for picnic table use.

“John Jacoby worked unselfishly giving his time and energy to the Windsor community to make it a better place for us all,” Fotsch said in a memo to the board. “Since Johnny is no longer available to hop on his bicycle and ride all about town seeking donations for his charities the committee is hoping that community will take this opportunity to support his past efforts and give back.”

The funds raised by the run will include Jacoby’s favorite charity — 28 Hours of Hope, which raises money and awareness for child abuse prevention — and establish a Windsor High School Scholarship Fund in his name. Funds will also go to Athletes in Tandem.

“I’m sorry we haven’t been able to offer closure,” Mayor John Vazquez said Monday. “I think John was a shining star in our community and is sorely missed.”"

"One of the things we are most proud of is the fact that our 28 Hours of Hope meant so much to John. It is our annual fundraiser to raise money to fight child abuse in Northern Colorado and John was a champion for the cause. He would raise money for us every year and looked forward to it all year long. When John passed, the community was asked to make a donation to charities that John supported in his name. We were blown away yesterday to receive a check from John, presented by members of his family, for thousands of dollars that was donated by the members of this community. I could feel John smiling down on us as I was handed the check. I could feel his hug and sense his pride.

We are in talks to organize an annual fundraising event in John’s name to raise money for the 28 Hours of Hope. As long as we do a 28 Hours, we will have John’s legacy be a part of it. There is no better way to honor him. You will never be forgotten John. Thank you for continuing to be there for us.

We still need your help in solving this case."

Looking back on this old article, fwiw:
Sheriff Calls Mysterious Northern Colorado Shootings ‘Extremely Frustrating
May 20, 2015 5:53 PM

http://denver.cbslocal.com/2015/05/...ern-colorado-shootings-extremely-frustrating/

"WINDSOR, Colo. (CBS4)*– Now investigating two mysterious incidents, Larimer County Sheriff Justin Smith told CBS4 it’s extremely rare to have two apparently random shootings along roadways anywhere in Colorado, let alone in some of the safest communities in Northern Colorado.

John Jacoby (credit: CBS)

A driver found the body of 48-year-old*John Jacoby*along a road in Windsor Monday. He was shot twice. The shooting came just weeks after a woman was shot in the neck while driving near Fort Collins."

Snip

"It’s extremely frustrating for us to get a pure ‘who dun it?’ And I guess that’s what I’d clearly say — this is a ‘who dun it?’ for everybody,” Smith said."

Who dun it? I'm going with my initial instincts, original profile. Addition: My guess is 2 perps. Jmo.

a follow-up on the phoenix highway shooter from last September...seems they're having difficulty with the ballistic evidence...haven't dismissed the case, but have granted him bail and a GPS monitor...

Charges to be dismissed in Phoenix freeway shooting case

The man authorities have described as the Phoenix freeway shooter who terrorized the city last year received a huge victory Friday with prosecutors deciding to dismiss all charges — for now.

Jerry Cobb, spokesman for Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery, said that the office filed a motion to dismiss the charges, which include carrying out a drive-by shooting, without prejudice against Leslie Merritt Jr.

Thinking of John this morning, and all of the people gathered at Boardwalk Park in Windsor this morning to honor his memory. Unfortunately I can not be there today, but I am there in spirit.

We have not forgotten about you John (and William), and I want so badly for them to catch whoever so cowardly did this to you guys.
