I am happy there was a PC, that information was released and that locals are now beginning to comment on the fb page; however I am disappointed that when I turned on our local 9pm news (kdvr and 9news) last nighy, the PC was not mentioned as a lead story (if at all? I finally turned it off). I think that featuring the highlights of the PC on our mainstream TV news channels nightly news would have brought the story and information to more people in the area.

Northern Colorado Shooting Task Force continues to seek leads (Updated)
Task Force releases photos, videos at press conference Tuesday, continues to encourage public to report information
http://www.reporterherald.com/news/...shooting-task-force-releases-video-seeks-help

Snip

"The task force has also ruled out any connection of the shootings to incidents of shattered windows reported to local law enforcement agencies.

Larimer County Sheriff's Office task force member Capt. Robert Coleman said while all the incidents haven't been connected to one another, the reason they're all being investigated by the task force is that they are all random.

“They are at people, and their intent is they are shooting into vehicles or at people with the intent of causing serious bodily injury or death,” he said."

A good selection, Mags. Thank you. The good Captain seems to be saying that the window shatterings are only like the other shootings in that they are random and involve people "shooting into vehicles or at people with the intent of causing serious bodily injury or death". That's the first acknowledgement I've heard from LE that some of the window shatterings appear intentional.

I think that he may well be right that they have different authors, but I do wonder how the Task Force has been been able to "rule out any connection of the shootings to incidents of shattered windows." Having no suspects for any of the incidents, how could they possibly? I wonder if he was quoted accurately.

I saw on the evening news that Cori is having a baby...might be soon too from the looks of things...

Wow! Just think, if she would not have survived, there would not be this new little life entering the world...pretty deep imo, in the big scheme of things...

How police have solved previous serial shootings
http://www.9news.com/news/investigations/how-police-solved-past-serial-shootings/156452477

"KUSA - A series of shootings in Northern Colorado has captured the attention of our state -- and the nation.

It's been a year since the first incident, in which a 20-year-old woman was shot in the neck in Fort Collins.

Police still don't have a suspect.

Serial shootings from the past prove that these cases can take anywhere from a few hours to several months to solve."

I'm having trouble with my devices today or I would have posted this already...I think people tend to sit up high in pickup trucks...but I think the photo is distorted in terms of light reflection because I can't see anyway the orange would appear that color...IMO

appear that color in the video that is...but you have to zero-in so far to see the rust corrosion holes...IDK, I certainly wish they had shown us this a long time ago...I think their analysis of the approach routes and escape routes is interesting and would really warrant a closer look if murders were still happening but I also think that if they had made any leads or connections to the routes they would have told us that too... they didn't tell us anything about the dairy farm did they?...I still wonder what that was about...a forensic exercise in survey-grade technology perhaps? that farm was Larimer County but Weld County has a lot of farms with migrant agri-workers that might have access to a truck like that...I can't help but think someone driving around like that taking shots at people doesn't has much to lose...kind of reminds me of that railroad killer ... totally creeps me out...IMO

I went back to the video of the conference and have to take back what I said above about Captain Coleman's remarks. He did not sound like he was acknowledging that the window shatterings were deliberate. And I think that the reporter did misstate what the Moore was saying about the relationship of the window shatterings to the other incidents. He wasn't dismissing the possibility that the window shatterings might be linked to the other shootings, just saying that they hadn't identified any links.

The video version of that story is fun to watch. Whitney Wild, the reporter, echoes the point, which some of us have made on the thread, that these random highway attacks are hard to solve.

From the Task Force press briefing, (courtesy of the Coloradoan).

PIO Moore:

... The task force has also been asked what types of technology they are using to assist the investigation. To maintain the integrity of the investigation, the task force will not discuss the technologies being used, but would like the community to know that they are using all means available to them with the appropriate court orders.

... Regarding the shattered window incidents on northern Colorado roadways, early on the task force developed a protocol with surrounding LE agencies to investigate all reports of shattered or broken vehicle windows, and that protocol has been followed. None of the shattered or broken window cases has been linked to any of the shootings currently under investigation by the task force.
[End of quote].

So a mention of, but no news on the window shatterings or technology use, and a disinclination to discuss them. I'd always hoped that they would catch the shooter by catching the window shatterer, but that hope is dwindling. One of the strongest commonalities between the shatterings and the shootings weakened, in my mind, when I learned that Cori wasn't really attacked on I-25 proper. We've seen many shatterings on I-25, but no others positioned as Cori's was at the beginning of an on-ramp to I-25.

The window shatterer is stealthy and consistent. Details from the press briefing reinforce the notion that the shooter(s) is inconsistent (uses different weapons, picks mobile and immobile targets) and sloppy (gets caught on film twice, and chases a target around residential streets and leaves him to tell the tale). The shooter(s) are vicious. The window shatterer has hit dozens of vehicles without inflicting worse than glass cuts. I took Capt. Coleman's point that the truth will out about the shooters, but I'm starting to wonder whether we will ever understand the story behind the window shatterings.

Re: the black spots on the truck, rust, etc...I used to dabble in photo effects/basic digital imaging back in the day...the video reminds me of what happens when some effects are added, a type of pixellation/smoothing out of details. I think it's possible some fine details could have become less visible after the enhancement, but still glad they brightened it up or whatever so we can at least make it out. It must've been pretty poor quality before if they couldn't even release it. What I'm super happy about is now having the exact "shape" of the truck. My eagle eyes have been out since the initial release of the sketch; now I feel like I have a better means of elimination due to the visual of the shape. (Though the truck is probably hidden somewhere or long gone...). But someone might/could recognize it from the past!

With that being said, I want to briefly touch on some of the personal aspects of this case to me. We have been here all year, and there were times that I had to take a break for my own sanity. There were also times I felt not only frustration, but hesitation in posting, because I did not want to compromise the integrity of anything that LE might be doing. In other words, there are some things that I have not posted. However, now that LE has made it apparent that they really do need us, and have taken the approach that we have been taking all along (posting maps, etc), I feel a renewed sense of, oh how do I say it, hope and motivation, I suppose. I have not felt this optimistic and hopeful ever up until this point that LE is taking this seriously, and that these cases can be solved. And we have been on the right track I think (noting Banner Health, etc..). I have never felt more motivated in this case than I do now, meaning as a local, when I tried to put it in the back of my mind (just as CR actually said in her most recent interview posted upstream), I can not, and will not, and the most recent PC has had a major effect on me, a type of positive confirmation of everything we have been working up to until this point. While there is a good chance that our perp(s) might have traveled out of the area, I am still on the ground here as a local 110 percent, looking out at everyone and everything. While we want all these cases to be solved here on WS, this is my "pet case", because I share the air with these victims and perps, they are on my streets. And if this case goes unsolved in the years to come, I will never stop wondering who gunned down my "neighbors", and if this could be someone I might have come in contact with in the past, present, or future. I'm having trouble finding the words after a long day, but wanted to get some of this out while I was thinking about it, that I want soooooo badly for them to find this person/people, soon, badly. It's an obsession, and I especially thank those who are not local for taking an interest and contributing to this case. As far as I'm concerned, this could have been me, or someone I know, and while chances might be slim that this could happen, this case is very, very, very personal to me. I do not know that I can completely rest until this person(s) has been apprehended. He/they could very well still out there, sharing the same air as me and us. I feel that we have been very, very, very thorough here with every article posted, all the (potential) incidents charted, I feel that we have made excellent progress in these threads. Who knows when the next communication from LE might be...for all we know it could be another year...point is, I do think we have a lot to work with here. Now that these pairs/patterns have been forensically linked and confirmed by LE, we know that these patterns exist, as mentioned from day 1. I think the key is looking at these early incidents, and early posts. I'd like to see more locals get involved. So many locals assumed these murders were solved; now they know they are not and I'm hoping for more folks to keep their eyes open, etc, and maybe even join us here with their local input.

After seeing the video of that truck rolling along, I'm just creeped out beyond words I can't tell you. The video made all of this even more real. I can't get any of this off my mind.

Anyway, rambling, again, not my most eloquent post, but you guys get the jist. I hope you guys will stick around this next year, should there be no new developments. There is a looot of reference material archived in these 4 threads (4000 plus posts?), my/our goal from the start.

Latest thoughts, do we have different groups in action here?
(Re: our old talks that Foxfire brought to us re: the possibility ISIS affiliations, etc, I read an article about how some of their money is used specifically for acquiring and financing the anonymous vehicles to be used in the commission of crimes/terroristic acts).

I had the location on our map wrong by a couple of hundred yards. I'd thought that Cori was shot while merging onto I-25 proper, not, as she was exiting Harmony to get onto the I-25 on ramp. I remember debating that point with Prairiewind, who had understood it correctly, it turns out.

Here's the link to the now corrected case map.

Thanks again Forager (and everyone) for all your hard work this year. Again, these threads would be soooooo much less without everything you (and FHG) have contributed. Whatever you do, please don't go anywhere!!! Foxfire too! And All of you guys for that matter! Kai, searchinGirl, SugarQueen, Maxine2U, Hatfield, etc (sorry if I'm forgetting anyone!!)...I have this fear of this thread going cold and me sitting here talking to myself haha.

The description of exactly where she was shot was unclear in every report on the incident. LE should have been more specific.

What are your thoughts on this case 1 year later, Footwarrior, if I may ask? You keep such a low profile around here, but I see you live in Ft Collins, and I know you've been here since Day 1! :) What are your ideas as a local one year later, as far as geographics, potential profile, etc, especially after the latest PC?

Foxfire, any news on NS?

I'm studying old articles. Either it's late and I just forgot about this, or I missed it; it's from July 2 of last year:

"Police descended on a home in northern Colorado early Thursday as authorities continued to hunt for the person behind a series of seemingly random shootings that have left two dead and two wounded since April.

Following one of hundreds of tips that have poured in, members of a special task force sent an "evidence recovery team" to an address on County Road 9 in Loveland, the city where two of the four shootings have taken place, according to a statement issued by the Larimer County Sheriff's Office."

FTR it is also still likely I'm that person (s) is currently incarcerated for another crime. So, if this is the case, what happens when and if they get out? Upstream some arrests have been posted in other notable incidents in the area, fwiw.
