Again, maybe O/T, posting for reference:

Man shot by DPD was threatening people with BB gun, police say
http://www.9news.com/news/local/pol...ired-at-officers-in-downtown-denver/241674537

"DENVER - A suspect, who police say was pointing a gun at people from a balcony in downtown Denver, is recovering from a gunshot wound he suffered when officers opened fire."

Snip

"Denver Police went to the scene. As officers arrived, they saw a man standing on a third-floor balcony, and soon after saw what appeared to be a sawed-off shotgun."

Snip

"Officers obtained a search warrant and have searched the apartment. They say the found multiple weapons, including the gun they believe the man was holding. Upon examination, police learned this was actually a modified BB gun."

Police: Vandals shatter 160 windows with BB guns in Fort Collins
POSTED 9:56 PM, JUNE 9, 2016, BY WEB STAFF, UPDATED AT 05:30AM, JUNE 10, 2016

FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- There were more than 160 police reports filed after police said vandals armed with BB guns shattered windows on vehicles across Fort Collins, causing thousands of dollars in damage. ... 165 similar reports [were] filed over the past month. ...The cases started popping up in mid-April, one year after the seemingly random shootings began in northern Colorado. Police said there is "no reason to believe there's a connection". [End quote].

I don't see much in common with the I-25 window shatterings either. Rampages like this one, targeting unoccupied vehicles, aren't uncommon. The only thing that strikes me as unusual here is how persistent the series has been. Almost all of the other ones I've read about only happened during the course of one or two days.

I was interested to note that the "Police *believe* the vandals were armed with BB or pellet guns... ." The lack of ballistic evidence has been a mysterious feature of the I-25 shatterings. Could the police not yet have "ballistic evidence" to go on when the have been 160 stationary targets?

The Coloradoan published a nice map of the incidents (from City releases new details in vandalism spree, Alicia Stice, 6/9/16)

Thanks for posting, Forager....jeez...

( I posted this in the Orlando Pulse Mass Shooting Thread:

"Some of us here have been tracking shooters/shootings for a while. The first thing I want to say is Foxfire, Rock On for being smart enough to have been talking about this for a couple of years. People mocked and laughed when you discussed the possibility of ISIS in our Serial Sniper Threads, even before Paris."

Yes! And I remember him taking some grief for trying to educate us on the threat of ISIS inspired attacks. The first time I ever read the term "lone wolf" was here on a Foxfire post.

How are they doing on the Orlando thread? I dread to think what a brawl that brew of politics, religion, sex, war, gun control, political correctness and violence could generate.

(Forager, did you ever see this thread?

MI - Raulie Casteel charged in 20+ serial highway shootings, Oct 2012
http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...arged-in-20-serial-highway-shootings-Oct-2012 )

I remember reading about him. His was one of the relatively few cases in which we seemed to have a clear good notion of why the perpetrator shot at random motorists. He was apparently diagnosed with a "delusional disorder" and tried on terrorism and other charges. "Testifying in his own defense, Casteel said he was consumed with anxiety while in traffic, most likely from undiagnosed delusions. He said he believed drivers were part of a government conspiracy against him." CBS News

The lack of evidence in the vehicles damaged by BB or pellet guns around Fort Collins is likely due to lack of investigation. Like most communities, LE in Fort Collins seldom collects evidence for minor crimes. They file a report and forget about it.

Man shoots at car, crashes his vehicle, then shoots at pedestrians nearby

"LITTLETON - Littleton Police said a man fired a gun at another vehicle, crashed his own vehicle and got out firing at some pedestrians nearby."

Snip

"Cpl. Rick Redmond with Littleton Police said the alleged shooter was driving east on Bowles when, for an unknown reason, he shot at another vehicle."

We're coming up on the one year anniversary of Nathaniel Scheiern's arraignment hearing for the ax murders of his Glendale, CA grandparents. Only silence by the judicial system via ms media... In the following 07/2015 article linked, there is more info on NS, including a selfie photo of him sitting in a vehicle. The vehicle is obviously an older single cab pick up truck due to the seat and box shaped rear window. There is also an object beside his right shoulder. Any ideas on what the object is?

Foxfire, upstream are some stills of the back, as best as can be seen...we should do a side by side? Will do as soon as I can. Falling asleep right now but marking my spot.

Saw an orange Chevy pickup of the appropriate vintage just a few minutes ago. Actually it was a trailer made from the back half of a Chevy pickup. It was a step side model so it could not bet the orange pickup from this case. But it is possible that the same thing was done with the suspect vehicle.

Gunman who opened fire on Tennessee highway was motivated by police shootings, authorities say

One woman died and three others, including one police officer, were injured in the rampage.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said in a news release that initial conversations with the suspect, 37-year-old Lakeem Keon Scott, revealed that he was troubled by incidents across the U.S.

Scott, who is black, was wounded in the shootout with police, remains hospitalized and has not yet been charged. All those shot were white, police confirmed.

Rossmo's formula:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rossmo's_formula

Rossmo's formula is a geographic profiling formula to predict where a serial criminal lives. The formula was developed and patented[1] by criminologist Kim Rossmo and integrated into a specialized crime analysis software product called Rigel. The Rigel product is developed by the software company Environmental Criminology Research Inc. (ECRI), which Rossmo co-founded.[2]

A closer look at the 'one-in-a-billion' shot
Deputy Fires Shot into Robber's Gun
http://www.9news.com/news/local/a-closer-look-at-the-one-in-a-billion-shot/273877219

"KUSA - The shot is being called “one in a billion.”

“I don’t know that that can be done again,” said Jimmy Graham, director and lead instructor of the Active Shooter Response Training Center in Centennial.

Graham is talking about the shot fired from the*gun of an off-duty Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputy in January that lodged in the barrel of a suspect’s gun.

“I’ve never seen an instance where the bullet actually traveled backwards back down and contacted the bullet,” Graham said.")

Here is a graph using Rossmo's formula based on the NOCO shatterings Forager considers most likely to be cause by a serial shooter. The data is from the amazing spreadsheet Forager has put together.

The area is huge. Blue areas mean cold and are an unlikely anchor point (home, work etc) for the criminal. Squares closer to and red indicate a hot zone and a more likely anchor point. If LE were doing this they would have and use a lot more informatiom to build their probabilities, order of crimes, time of day, roads, traffic, weather etc. I've only been looking at this stuff for a week or two and am just experimenting..So take it with a grain of salt, all I've used is the data points. The white outline square, near the middle is the average point of all the crimes.

Forager has kindly overlaid the hot parts of the graoh over a map so you can see where they are:

Hopefully we'll find out sooner than later if these graphs are close or not.

Thanks Forager for your awesome data sheets and overlaying the graph.
