Found Deceased CO - Sebastian Castro Rivas, 3, Eagle, 5 June 2020

  • #281
Yes, it’s a mistake. Their apartment is a first floor apartment. He climbed the gate and got out the back. He was unattended (because the dad didn’t know the mom left Sebastian with him so she could take a smoking break out front) for 3 minutes while the dad washed the dishes.

See this is what bothers me, the Dad talks to a Spanish station (Univision) and here comes an English speaking station (Fox 31) and finds someone unqualified to translate the dad’s interview. That is totally unacceptable! There are so many mistyped facts out there regarding this poor child! Someone should let Leigh know this.
Yeah, that's what I thought but wanted to double check. Thanks!

Another early report said that according to the dad Sebastian was left alone for a short time as each parent thought the other was watching him.

As far as I know LE has not changed their original release saying "Eagle Police has learned that there was a young boy with a similar description of Sebastian on the playground at the Eagle Villas, 405 Nogal Rd, Eagle, CO around 9 p.m. last night, June 5, 2020." However, that's not unusual - I've seen similar in other cases where the original release didn't change until the person was found or an arrest was made.

IOW it's not surprising to have several versions floating around. Sometimes the details turn out to be important and other times they're totally irrelevant; only time will tell in this case.

Anyway, current evidence points to Sebastian falling into a huge, fast-flowing river where his body may not be found for a while, if ever. I believe another man is also still missing after he fell out of his inner tube near Radium, which is about 35 miles north of Eagle.

Sad as it is, I'd rather think this was a horrible accident but until Sebastian is found or more information is released it's hard to ignore other possibilities. All MOO.

Honestly the mother is who im suspicious of, on fb ppl are suspicious of the dad cause he keeps changing up the story but i think its only because the mother keeps on changing the story.

The dad claims she left the child in the house with the dad while he was washing dishes but he claims he didnt know the child was in the house and this is why i think the child never was to begin with.

anyways why would u take a baby that young on an hour long walk? In the evening..

I think the biggest hindrance to geting the real facts out is the language barrier. How you say something in English might come out differently in Spanish. Also if an interviewer asks a direct question you would expect a direct answer but you don't always get that. When speaking about the cousin, thé father allegedly said there are many cousins in the family.

Was hoping for news. Preferably good! Is anyone else 8n danger of falling off the fence with me onto the side that says something more than Sebastian accidentally fell into the river? Won’t take much of a breeze to tip me over

Can anyone find any interviews with the mom? I can translate them for us. I looked but couldn’t find any.

Oh that's good. I wished I learned it as a second language. So you understand what I mean about misunderstandings between languages. The friendliest people in CO are the people who speak spanish, at least that's the way it was 40 years ago when I lived there.

I appears to me that the father is the spokesperson for the family. Very often one person speaks for the family. She may be dealing with a host of emotions such as anxiety or depression.

I'm convinced he is somewhere in the river. I hope they find the little guy soon.

So the dad never seen the baby come back from that trip with his mom...

That’s what I’m thinking. That’s why my I posted the other day wondering if there was any camera footage of that “trip”.

Is that because he had her phone? So they came back from their walk, he is playing with the phone. Then he disappears into the bushes and went straight for the river. (For children his age this is split second work.)

I don't think there was ever a timeline given for what time Sebastion, his mother, and the nephew left for their walk and got back. No timeline for getting to or leaving the park. We know it was reported that someone fitting Sebastion's description was seen at the park alone around 9:15 but do we know for sure it was him. So many details left out that I think LE might have asked. I agree it only takes a split second for a child to disappear.

Additionally, I followed the Eagle River which flows east of the town of Eagle and joins the Colorado River in Dotsero. If his body went into the Colorado River he might never be found.

exactly . Very odd

Perhaps they originally went with the playground story to save their hides? Its hard to believe that when a child is missing, you're more concerned with saving face then telling the factual truth that could possibly have been helpful in the beginning

Not the first time we've seen that happen:(

I for one am not suspicious of someone taking a young child on a long walk in the evening. This is cultural, or family preference. I also think language barriers create questions where really none should be. (Thinking of Dulce.). Please give the parents the benefit of the doubt, IMO, they are probably going through hell due to a simple miscommunication. That could happen in any family.

Thank you for saying this, I feel the same.

I think the speculation comes from the fact that the timeline (at least for us) isn't complete. He was reported missing from the appartment around 9.20 pm. Was this directly after they returned from their walk? How long were they inside?

Leaving a three year old unattended on the playground, I can't see that happen either. IMO they must have been inside, even for a couple of minutes or so. He was playing with his mother's phone, before being put to bed. That's when he saw the chance to take off. Whatever compelled him towards to river, he went straight for it. Otherwise they would have found him somewhere along hiding in the bushes.

I was asking questions about the walk in an attempt to put a base timeline together, wasn’t questioning the reason for a walk.
Evening walks are not unusual in neighborhoods in most places I lived. Do we know when they left the apartment to go on the walk? Did they stop anywhere along that walk and purchase anything?

Rompen el silencio padres de Sebastián, el pequeño desparecido
In the second video down the page, at the 1 min 50 sec. mark, Fire Chief Doug Cupp says: “...there was some video (then it gets overdubbed in Spanish) and it looks like Sebastian. He was wearing the same clothes. The video was very grainy and it shows him walking towards the river.“

If they have video, the found phone and shoe, then he must be in the river....

As always, my question has been, was he left at the playground by himself? IMO MOO
