If the girls are wearing the clothes that they wore to the party and not pajamas then they died before bedtime. And also stomach contents. I read somewhere that food takes 2-6 hours to breakdown. If they had food in their stomach from the party or food from dinner depending on the level of breakdown it would nail down time also.

I'm way behind in this thread, so this has possibly been addressed.

Why couldn't he has changed their clothes anytime before he took them to the crude/oil tanks?

Just so heartbreaking to even think of. How could he put them in there??
I'm just so repulsed by this father.
It's so terrifying a human can kiss & hug & interact with others for years ... and then do this.

At least in nature some poisonous creatures have markings. The black widow has her red mark, rattlesnakes have their rattles to warn us away. etc.
It seems to me that the only true evil lives inside mankind. (IMO)[/QUOTE]

BBM. And I don't know why he wouldn't expect that. They were close and kept in contact with each other.

I don't know. I just don't think he thought of the possibility. Otherwise he would've fixed up the house differently, like hiding or getting rid of her purse, ditching the sheets, etc. Or maybe he was just stupid and thought it all looked fine.

Actually that made me laugh. I know the code to our garage door but it's fickle and I can't get the stupid thing to work for me. My husband never has a problem with it lol.

That said... it's possible about him changing the code, but I still don't think he expected NAU to show up that day.
I think there is a possibility that he expected her, and that is why the safety latch was in place on the front door. She had the code, but wasn't able to open it with that latch in place. JMO

Thank you. That’s even more strange.
I have heard there is a few tweets out there regarding ppl whom knew or had known CW but I don't use twitter and don't think anything really note worthy. No ex's, no friends, no acquaintances. Really not much of anything of his past.

Good point.

I do suppose that if someone knows something, they just went straight to police with it. Thinking someone you knew might do this would devastate anyone.

I agree.

Just catching up on this case. Maybe I missed it, but has anyone from his work given an interview of substance to the media? Anyone describing his demeanor at work after he killed his family? This is a strange case.
Assuming murders occurred on Sunday, no evidence that CW ever worked more than a few hours Monday before he was summoned home by NAU -- little time for observation. No substantial interviews given by co-worker. However, close friends CW spent night with say he exhibited no signs of sadness or distress for his "missing family" and were so alarmed by this that they went to police after CW left their home to collect his Dad at airport.

My guess is after carrying each of his girls up and dumping them in the tank, he was too worn out and got lazy with SW. Or he felt he was running out of time. We don't know how much of a grave the "shallow grave" was. It's possible he just threw some dirt over her and didn't dig much of a hole at all.

Yeah it just sounds like, to me, he ran out of time. He left a sheet with her, right? Because if so, he might have meant to hoist her on his back to get her into the oil tank, too, but then it got too risky, so he had to just toss her somewhere and get outta Dodge.

Exactly. He was so angry with her that he killed her, but he loves her so much that he covered her crime. Very strong emotions, going from extreme to extreme. Yet, we don't see any emotion in him except pleasure when looking at his t-shirt.

jmo
The t-shirt he said "she" bought him. I did notice he referred to her as "she" and not by her first name most of the time. Whenever I've heard anyone refer to another person as "she" or "he" repeatedly, they are typically very angry with, and/or feel contempt toward that person. JMO.

Isn’t it scary? Just the thought that if she had decided it was very odd, and turned around, and left......

Sigh.

Of course then she would have had to live without her babies, so there’s really no good option for “what if”.

Coming right from the Mollie Tibbetts thread to this one is overwhelming. It disturbs me to even imagine how someone can purposely take a life. And as far as this case, I didn’t think there would be another person like Scott Peterson. I was wrong. Sadly.

Same...I joined for the Mollie thread (after lurking on and off over a couple of years). I can’t even remotely imagine how someone has to think in order to pull off something that heinous, full well knowing you will spend the rest of your life behind bars, or even on death row.

I would like to see a timeline of his activities on Monday. We don't actually know if he reported to work. Or maybe he was assigned to do maintenance in the oilfield that the tanks were located in. The tanks were very isolated. I originally thought he might have been spooked by the sun coming up or traffic nearby, but that location is almost in the middle of nowhere.

Back at the house, there is some evidence of a cover-up---the sheets in the trash can, but otherwise it doesn't sound like he did much to clean up the crime scene. The girls' beds were unmade, when SW would have made them if she and the girls had woken up normally and then gone on a playdate. And SW's car was there, and her shoes and suitcase by the door, and phone in the couch, and medicine there.

So many unexplainable things about this case.

In this case, I don't think that occurred to him. He really thought that people would believe she had taken the children and left with nothing.

I genuinely think they think too highly of themselves to believe they would ever be caught. Especially when they believes they are a ladies man. Ugh...

Not really. My neighbor is a very close friend and has a key to my house. Just in case anything happened etc. it took several years of building up trust before we both exchanged keys. I have a key to hers as well. I watch her dogs etc if she goes to see family

Yeah but NU tried to get in the house and only called CW when she was stopped by the latch.
Maybe SW gave NU the key and said “In case my talk w/CW doesn’t go well, he did something”?
