But remember, in CW's mind, he is the smartest one in the room and he probably figured he took care of the dog problem somehow. He seems to have been thinking that none of his actions could be connected to him in any way. Did the guy never watch ID, CSI, or any crime news? Or do these people feel they are immune to being caught or accused of anything based on their perception of their own intelligence?

We see this time and time again in people who commit heinous crimes. It is hard for normal people to understand the lack of empathy they feel for their victims, and it is also hard to understand how they seemingly did not seem to comprehend the serious consequences they would face for their crimes.

I tend to think it is that they are so incredibly selfish and supremely arrogant that #1, it is all about them and what they want, and no one else matters and #2, they really do think they are going to get away from it.

Mourning life outside of the clink maybe.

No doubt and that's too bad. He needs to settle on in to the new life he created for himself.

I feel that he was shocked and could not believe that it was getting so much attention.

And that his original plans were ruined by NU. He can’t believe he is in this situation, It was not supposed to go that way

The part about "It scares the living crap out of me right now just knowing that it's come to this." "What" has come to this? And what is "this" in his mind. I've always heard when people tell massive lies like this over and over to cover something up that parts of it are lies, parts are total fiction, and parts are truth. He's done it all in his media interviews including what he told LE after arrest. Would be interesting to break down his statements to the media/LE into lies, fiction, and truth based on facts as we know them to be so far.
Imagine how he felt the moment he learned LE had been called, or when LE first called him. He had to have been like ... oh my god.

I agree. I think he was also shocked that LE was asking him if he was having an affair, and probably some other pointed questions. I would think that by the time he gave those media interviews, he had to have some awareness that LE was suspicious of him.

What would you say to CW’s legal team, if they were reading here?

These are crimes of passion motivated by emotions, not rational thinking. No rational, right-thinking person would expect to get away with disappearing their entire family.

ETA: SBM

I seriously suspect that an FBI or CBI profiler gave the reporters some questions to ask. Remember why the media was even there? Detective Baumhover put out a press release first thing Tuesday morning.
I did catch that. As someone pointed out here, when the dogs showed up at his house it threw him off center. He lost some amount of control over his game of pretend. His reactions to the dogs being there were telling especially when one of them begins to bark!

Poor Chris. Sure misses his family. Jail chow is not up to par.

Maybe missing his 6 weeks of prepped freezer meals about now.

Thank you for sharing that.

I hate it when the judges impose gag orders. I mean, I understand the reason for it, but I disagree with the rationale. And I HATE it that the State can apparently leak information that is helpful to the prosecution, and the Defense can't do anything about that.

Oh that's interesting. Didn't know that.

Not being in US, it's so different to anything I know.

There had to be at least some type of death scent evidence, even if small, in that house, and in his truck, right?
