From Ashleigh Banfield just now - police sources tell PEOPLE they have gathered 100's of strands of hair from the truck.

What's that going to matter, he admitted they were all deceased in his truck ?

What can I say? He knew how to act. He also appeared like a devoted, in-love husband. But he was having an affair. Maybe multiple.

And the day after he murdered his kids or she did if anyone wants to consider his claims, he smirked and smiled and laughed as he stood calmly lying about their whereabouts on the porch of his house.

How can a man who really loved his kids and just possibly lost his mind, regain it so quickly and not be devastated once he snapped back out of it?

Those interviews communicate more than his performances as father of the year ever could, IMO, as we know now what happened while he stood there showing off his t-shirt.

They tell me all I need to know about who the real Chris Watts really is.

I think the murder of one's own children is a reflection of the vengeance one has toward the other parent. Some people will hold a grudge for the rest of their life. CW's behavior in the interviews shows he is one of those people, imo.

At best, I think CW's claim that SW killed the children might be a basis for some kind of insanity defense to avoid the death penalty. I doubt a jury buys it. The DA might try to negotiate a plea deal by taking the DP off the table. I hope he does because I think SW's family has suffered enough.

Seriously! Why is this even a headline?

I like your post because I’m so glad they have a lot of evidence, but I’m very concerned about anonymous police sources leaking to the press. It plays onto the hands of the defense IMO. Ashleigh Banfield wants to be the one to break the story, but I fear that she cares little about civil rights of those peripherally involved.

For all the criticism levelled at Shanann for portraying an idealised image on social media, it's clear to me CW was really the image-obsessed one in that couple — rewatching those videos of himself over and over again on his phone while everyone else searched for his family.

And I think he found ways of popping into pictures and videos that didn't originally include him.

Respectfully - questions and disrespectful comments were being shot out like a cannon.. FWIW - she was in tears within minutes. I don’t think she’ll be back here posting and I don’t blame her one bit.

Yikes, I just went back to thread 19 and read...wow. I am really just disappointed. I don't blame that person at all for not wanting to come back. They weren't allowed, in a kind manner, to even clarify their statements. I can't possibly be the only person who was intimidated when I first arrived at WS; I can't imagine coming on here for the first time and being spoken to in such a manner. That person seemed to have a different perspective and I would have loved to have heard more :(

A few other thoughts of mine, in no particular order:
  • Just because he did this awful thing does not automatically mean he was abusive prior. My son's father hadn't hit either or us prior to his first (and last), and ultimately fatal, attack on my son. He didn't start hitting me until after he'd hurt my baby.
  • His disposal method also isn't proof of anything except his disposal method. I'm sure I'm not the only person growing weary of hearing, "but he put his babies in crude oil," so therefore he's clearly capable of like, skinning people alive and wearing their skin. It's heinous, yes, no argument there, but I'm not sure why it's being thrown out as a "be all end all" to every argument/differing idea/thought out there.
And someone came into my office and distracted me and now I lost my train of thought lol. I really wish we had a document dump or something more to discuss at this point.

I apologize...I've been away from the thread for a few days...he was watching videos of himself over and over again? How do we know that? They weren't family videos but just him??? Where did we hear this? Thanks!

The people that he stayed with, the Thayers said that he watched his interview videos over and over again.

Thank you, Jennifer :) I would guess it was less vanity and more "did I give anything away?" double checking.

Testing on hair can help pinpoint time of death.

To be clear, he was watching his media interviews back. He seemed to the Thayers very concerned about how he came across to the public and it worried them. They talk about it in this video and others.

ETA: @cottonweaver @Coolmomof4 Long video above; also below they are interviewed in a shorter segment (starts from around 1 min, 25 seconds in)

They were discussing it relative to postmortem banding, but the guest didn't know if it would present that fast. He said it usually takes days or weeks. They also mentioned that they would test to see if someone else was in the truck.

Stomach contents were discussed briefly before the commercial break. Ashleigh brought up the birthday party on Sunday. Guest's opinion is that the oil will not impact tests on stomach contents - they should be discernable.

First post! I just got my posting priveledges. I’m so excited! Anyways regarding the hundreds of hair strands, I have a feeling they will belong to multiple people including his family as well as his affairs.

Hello, this is my first time posting as I just got my account access to do so. I’ve never followed a case but this case has really drawn me in. I think it’s because I have two young girls and see them in Bella and Cece.

Anyways I’ve spent way too long on fb looking through things and I found the reason they moved to CO was she was nannying and the family moved so she went with them and I believe Chris joined. The house he filmed his presentation is actually the same house I can tell from a Zillow listing of that same house in Broomfield, CO that the family she nannied for lived in.

One other thing I found was Shanann met Chris after she took her car in for service and he worked on it and found her name from it and reached out on Fb. I found this from her brother writing it on a fb comment someone wrote.

Wow. Good info. If he looked her up after working on her car that would strike me as odd or even creepy but young people these days might take that as normal?

I think SW would be very upset “he left her”. Again bc “he wasn’t a player “ I think she felt he would never leave her.

Agreed Shekkiec.
I believe SW never thought CW would ever follow through with a separation even if she knew of affair/affairs.
I think SW viewed CW like he was a wall flower in so many ways.

From Wikipedia
A wallflower is someone with an introverted personality type (or in more extreme cases, social anxiety) who will attend parties and social gatherings, but will usually distance themselves from the crowd and actively avoid being in the limelight.

But they were just that opinions posted as fact. How can someone say 'There was absolutely no domestic violence' or the dead woman was a narcissist or 'I knew about the affair from the very beginning'.
No one knows what goes on inside another person's marriage. The facebook groups are full of people claiming that they know all about what an evil person the dead woman was, they skip over the part were he dumped his children in the oil and buried her in a shallow grave and just want to go on endlessly about what she was.
They call her fake even after they have seen him lie and act his way through 3 interviews, they say she forced him to perform for the cameras.
Was she still forcing his performance before the cameras when she was dead.
It seems to me he quite like performing, laughing and smiling when talking about his dead wife and children and lying about where they were.
YES!
