I think CW knew he was done when he was in the midst of the interview and heard the dogs barking (alerting) inside his home. The look on his face says it all. Starts 3:50

Also, in this video with news reporter CW says the canine dogs are getting scents to see where they went. I actually think CW thought the dogs were just there to get scents of the missing family but I believe the dogs were there for the scent of death and CW didn't realize that because he thought they were just there getting their scents to see where they went in what direction.

Great observation. I honestly did not even hear the dogs when I first saw the video interviews with CW. But now that you mention it, after the dogs start barking is where his voice starts to quiver.

I don't know if bedwetting was an issue, but I am starting to give more attention to the idea that CW lost his temper with one of the girls either at dinner or bedtime and killed her. Once he did that, he panicked and decided to "cover" his actions by killing everyone and then coming up with a story.

It might have started around dinner time....he specifically mentioned in the video that he wishes the kids would come home so he could tell them to finish eating before getting dessert. That statement might be a hint at what actually happened. Was the birthday party that same day? If so, it's possible the kids were wound up from that and more difficult to deal with at dinner/bedtime. JMO

Previously I had been thinking he planned the killings in advance. Now I'm on the fence. But I still think the children were first.

I'm thinking this too and posted a theory earlier. CW lost his temper with Cece and grieviously harmed her, he then went into self preservation mode, killed her and Bella. When SW returned home he ambushed her, no fight or arguing, she might have been undressing at the time.
I don't believe it was premeditated beyond that point at this stage, I might change my mind once witness testimonies are heard or autopy results presented.

OT!!! Sorry I love everyone's theories, so here is mine and it's purely outlandish so don't think I think this is true. Buuuuuutttt

I just imagined this and it's completely made up in my head (IJITAICMUIMH): My fictional, made-for-TV movie version of what happened...

Where was CW Sat night when he had a sitter? Did AP from work say they broke up in June-ish? I assume he was on a date? What if what if whatif

It seems he falls for people. He has a new love interest, and everyone knows the first few weeks of an intense affair, one where he was living large as SW alluded to in a snarky FB post from NC. One where they were both talking about running away, both ditching their lives...

The NEW AP (NAP) is like Nancy (or Sid) from Sid and Nancy, or Bonnie (or Clyde) from Bonnie and Clyde. A little dangerous, maybe unhinged. S/he talks about both killing their families. CW is like you're crazy BUT I LOVE YOU because you're crazy and dangerous and new.

S/he visits the home. CW is like hey don't come to the home. NAP is like but we are running away! Let's kill the kids now and dip. CW says let's put the kids to bed and have weird murder fantasy sex instead of actually killing them. SW is coming home soon.

They ... CW hops in the shower immediately after. NAP goes and kills the kids! He gets out of the shower and sees them, murders NAP (who we don't know about, and is probably also in a shallow grave somewhere).

CW rips the sheets off the bed and freaks out, how the hell is he going to explain two dead kids and a mist/ress? He lies in wait for her to come home, and grabs her before she knows what hit her. And has to deal with 4 bodies.

No one ever finds out about NAP, until 20 years later on a Forensic Files episode, season 203, episode 94, they crack the case after an oil worker finds NAP's remains, from fibers from the same bedsheets and CW's DNA.

The End

Why couldn't NAP have killed SW, too? And then CW says, "Now what are we going to do?" And NAP says, "We need to dispose of the bodies; I know just the place!..."

That is my theory at the moment also, except that Bella is the one he lost temper on and got killed first.

His confession states that via baby monitor, he observed Bella 'sprawled' out on her bed and blue, and Shanann actively strangling Celeste. He never stated Bella was strangled.

Bella's COD might be very different from what we've been assuming. Whatever COD is for Bella, CW will blame SW, I'm sure.

Reason I wondered is that every time I have seen search dogs working, whether they are drug sniffers, search and rescue, or cadaver, it seems when they 'hit' on something they get momentarily excited, then sit. I just have never seen dogs that just continue to bark and bark. I was just thinking maybe it was poor old Dieter. Wish he could tell us what happened. Thinking about him has reminded me so much of Napoleon, Travis Alexander's dog who was also there when his owner was murdered.
