IMHO Any defense, and I'm sure there will and should be a vigorous one, will include building a case against SW. Also, IMHO, the defense will be hamstrung by the bodies being hidden and the way they were hidden. That will be a huge hurdle to take a jury over. The second hurdle is infidelity.

Very strong evidence that CW killed all three will change things, I think! Likewise if it can't be proven he did it or that SW definitely did!

In my (nonverified, nonprofessional) personal opinion - he has admitted to killing SW. I would anticipate the defense to introduce evidence of provocation (he was so incited by what she’d done that he just couldn’t control himself)- in an attempt to drop down to a lesser included offense. As to the other two charges relating to BW and CW - I would anticipate a full defense that he didn’t do it (in line with his confession). JMO
If I may ask are you a Trial Lawyer Amandaaa?

@Trinket78 - have you spent any time with the children?

Both methods are horrible, but I agree, the strangulation is far more cold.

Smothering allows one to kill without looking your victim in the eyes. It is another thing altogether, to be able to watch the life slip from another’s eyes, especially those of your children. How sick.
That's why I guess I thought that was the only possible way a parent could bring themselves to kill their own children. Sometimes we hear of cases where they will cover them with a blanket or put their favorite stuffed animal with them, but to dump them in barrels of oil is just incomprehensible. I saw a statement that said he "lovingly" placed them in the oil barrels so he could think of them every time he drove by... who thinks like that? Jmo

I think it's interesting to discuss what the defense's case will be! But that type of discussion doesn't seem to go over very well. Other posters seem to assume it means you're siding with the defense, when that isn't true at all. If there were a way to flag that type of discussion without a bunch of verbage, maybe that would work.

jmo

Honestly not real sure how you got that from my post...The OP was afraid that she'd given CA's defense team the idea to claim sexual molestation; in my response I stated that the PI said the team had been discussing that angle for a while. I didn't say anything about quieting discussion here abour this case or imply that I didn't like the topic of conversation.

Yes, completely and utterly ridiculous like the other claim 'to keep them warm'.

Another theory was that the oil was warm, so he was putting them in a warm and presumably comforting place. (paraphrased) I'd like to watch the part of the trial where the defense uses this.

Agree. And I’m totally cool with that. Notice I only pipe up if someone is not allowing free-thinking.
You keep us honest. Thanks.

Haaa agreed. And that statement was likely mine, I was mocking his actions and being incredibly sarcastic.

I guess you mean " had" since they are both gone now, but I was wondering, also, how well did Trinket know the family, or at least an idea of how long, ( more than 5 years, less than 3, just an estimate) and if you can answer, how did you come to know them? Sorry if this has been answered.

She worked at shop that sold Car Rims

Agree. Knew that but was unable to post it here.
Do you know if that was FT or PTime though Trinket?
( No probs if you do not want to answer that.)

I wouldn’t want to be the one having to spin that aspect of the case. He wanted the bodies to remain undiscovered, and that was the best place he could apparently think of. If you can kill your family, I guess you don’t care about what you do to them when they are dead.

Great. I look forward to hearing your insight!
I came on here because this just personally interests (and dumbfounds) me... I had no intention of verifying myself, and no intention of even posting anything.

And look where that got me... I’m hopelessly addicted and keep coming back :)

You know, I’ve given so much thought to that case discussion and in retrospect it was probably wrong for me to have stood up for MMC rights when in the end she was guilty as hell. I hate to think I could have caused any harm to those poor children. I sincerely hope they are well.
I don't believe it is ever wrong to stand up for someone's rights.
