I've also thought the same.
I think the 'ultimately' was used to cover for other injuries SW may have suffered. eg, he may have hit her head with a blunt object to knock her out prior to strangling her.
Say that was the case. He may have felt he had good reason to hit her head with a blunt object first......

Let’s be realistic. What happens when you stand up for yourself? Does the abuser say “Oh my gosh. You don’t like the way I’m talking to you/hitting you? I’m so sorry. I’ll change and treat you with dignity and respect from now on.”

Spoiler alert: That’s not what happens.

But I do agree he should have left.
I too agree that “if” there was abuse, he should have left, and not massacred his family.

That's OK, I know there's a lot on FB, etc. But I personally won't fall for this let's look for abuse on both sides, when she is in her grave with her kids. And the only thing to go by is silly, sometimes stilted FB videos. How much of their daily life was captured and posted online? 1 zillionth of their total time?
Yes. And I don't think there is much in the videos at all to prove anything. I think the communication between them in the month leading up to the murder may provide the best evidence. Jmo

Can I ask, where are people getting the assumption that SW did all the housework? From the videos perhaps?

Wait, wasn't there reference to LE looking for 'weapons' at one point?

They HAVE to have evidence that he did, in order to charge him with their murder. Isn't that right?
I think they secured the evidence for further testing that was at the home we do not know those or autopsy results yet or if any computer data will be included . He also confessed to murdering SW and disposing of the bodies however even though that is a death penalty or life sentence trial he chose to deny the deaths of the children . I find that worth looking into IMO.

I was thinking - knock her out first so she doesn't fight back...

I think from that, and by all accounts, she was the type of person who would keep up with all those things and making sure everything was in order. For example, her friend saying it would be very unlike her to leave the kids beds unmade. If there's one thing I have learned about her, is that she was a bit of a perfectionist when it came to keeping the house in order. Jmo

I could not agree more. Big fat red flag.
They had a law suit from HOA pending . We know they filed bankruptcy in 2015. Looking at the debt we know it seemed to be her debt IMO . Ex chiropractor , nursing school , and many high end stores . Would it be possible that her vacations were not covered by level ? I know they cover some costs but I can’t imagine the debt with leasing the Lexus and her insurance . I know if you do not meet certain requirements Level pays nothing . If they spoke of selling the house it would maybe be linked to debt or separation imo

But he didn't kill the kids.

Remember?

So she must have been abused because she killed the kids.

Right?

That was also my question, as well. Iirc he was detained at the station for questioning earlier that day, though not sure exactly what time (I would MOO it was sometime in the early afternoon, since the Thayers stated in their interview that he left their house late morning to pick his father up at the airport) and he wasn’t actually under arrest until 11:30PM Wednesday night. I am an HR professional and it seems odd that there would be an HR rep on hand at that time of night to render a termination. Hence leading me to believe he would have been termed during normal business hours. (MEO). Which also leads me to further question his reason for termination. I plan to try to do further research into their policies and procedures and code of ethics to see if he may have broken a policy by being a suspect, since there was no reports that he admitted to anything until after he spoke to his father that night. I’ve read other speculations on his term reason in other forums which have me interested on another possible motive which could lead to signs of pre-meditation.
By Wed morning no doubt LE had approached Anadarko for Chris’s GPS records, and they were using an Anadarko drone to search sites. LE probably also asked for his email records. CO is an employment at will state and they could have fired CW just because if the fuss, but I think it’s highly likely they saw something in where he was with the truck (not where he said he was and/or was supposed to be) or something in his emails that violated company policy and provided grounds for termination. The grounds wouldn’t necessarily be even related to the case.

We could look into it by interrogating him on why he didn't preserve the evidence and call the authorities to help save lives of his beloved family before desecrating their bodies instead. His denial of murdering the kids has to be seen in the light of what he did afterwards....make sure they were dead and hidden and even try to make it seem like she went away with them.
