Also, do we know how much later? That day? The next day?
I guess CW might have given it to them if it rang and everyone heard it. It would look odd if he just stood there admiring his shirt.

I’m still reading it there though as the same day?
Page two, 4th full paragraph down.... when the second LE officer arrived at 2:35pm. Second LE was briefed to include list of SW personal effects.
“Cell phone, purse, wallet and medication”.
This would be important because if cell was recovered right away, IMO would lessen the opportunity CW had to fiddle with SWs cell.
Or am I just in another zone? It’s ok, u can be honest.
Originally I thought it said the same time as well. But I can't get to that part on the affidavit for some reason.

I agree with your thinking. I imagine that he kept the kids in the bags until he reached the opening on the tank, and then he dumped them in.

He apparently discarded them carelessly after doing this (they were discovered after all).

The tanks would conceal the bodies, and the oil would likely destroy evidence. Dumping the bags in the tanks, wrapped around his children’s bodies, doesn’t make a lot of sense (evidence preservation).
But where are the missing blankets? (I believe our hero mentioned kids blankets missing, Bicbw.) JMO

Yes, we do not have to follow the guidelines as the jury would during the trial. Which is
a good thing because I'm not sure what would be left to discuss by now. We get to play detective, but with our own set of rules. Jmo
I dislike being made to feel guilty into believing I'm on a jury.

I know, I know, no one can make me 'feel' things, I'm responsible for my feelings but it's annoying. :D

There seems to be some disagreement here. The way it reads, sounds to me that it was found on that first search.

That’s why I speculated that he didn’t have time to mess with it, because of all the other things he had to do (body dumping).

Yes, it would! I wonder if it was when the second officer got there? Very curious now.

My nephew, who is a field engineer, tried to explain something to me about fuel tank monitors and alarms. And there are these gauges that monitor allowable space and also pick up changes of viscosity and vapors, that might lead to an overflow situation. And he said that sometimes they are too sensitive, and the alarms go off if there is an internal shift or change picked up by the gauges. So he said that he might not have wanted to add both bodies, although they were very small, just because the alarm system might be triggered if there was odd movements or shifts or changes inside the tank.

It kind of makes sense to me, but ?

He said that even though the body weights were very small, it is still a foreign body inside the oil tank , and sometimes the alarms pick up on changes ...

Floating Roof Tank High Level Alarm

Delta Controls Model 715-48Z
Specifically engineered for floating roof storage tanks, the Model 715 with ’48Z’ lead weight configuration offers a safe, non-invasive, and reliable level solution for storage terminals of crude oil and other materials. Utilizing a lead weight instead of a float or displacer, the roof tank lifts the weight as the level rises, triggering an alarm switch warning operators of the potential overflow. The Model 715-48Z is easily positioned above storage tanks by NPT or flanged process connections, and offers an adjustable position of lead weight along the cable. The durable design has been tested for over four decades and remains the trusted level switch for floating roof tank high level detection.
I wonder if your nephew could know what the possibility/ease would be of starting a fire/explosion and thus destroying everything there. I have thought that might have been part of his plan if he had more time. It was reported, I think, that he had a gas can in his truck.

Still in his truck or removed from it by LE.

its just that it isnt known to us yet. Le said the murders took place in the house, and i have been wondering how they know = all 3.

I'm thinking the dogs alerted three separate locations and that trace fluids were present. JMO.

If I remember correctly, he consented to the search and it was found on the first day. I stand to be corrected if necessary.

I can't think of a case where a father dumped his children's bodies in something like a tank of crude oil within hours of their death who didn't kill them. IMO.

Yeah. Not challenging to me. The only challenge IMO is people's willingness to give credence to an insane theory because of inherent dislike of the deceased.

Wouldn't CW's lawyers want to do an animated/virtual reenactment of his version of what happened?

So why haven't they subpoenaed to keep the house off limits until they can get the Crime360 technology cameras that puts every single scene detail on a virtual imagery archive?

Probably unrelated to the current discussion, but someone mentioned the dogs alerting at the house, and that reminded me that in the interview video where the dogs are barking, it sounded to me like they were outside, very nearby. The barking was loud and close, not muffled like it should sound if they were barking in the house. Just my observation... maybe they were alerting on the truck? If so, no wonder he looked and sounded very rattled! Anyone else get the same impression?

Haha, I suppose if people want to think like a juror that's just fine. But I would think there would be an awful lot you can't participate in since it would seem rather limiting.

It’s probably too early to worry about that. The house will still be there.

It does seem strange that anyone would be allowed into the house since it is a crime scene.

@Mrspratcher, the MSM article you reference is dated Sept 4, 2018 and the latest article is dated Sept 24, 2018.
It would appear that CW's visitor status within the jail system has changed.
Suspected Family Murderer Chris Watts Doesn't Want His Jail Visitors Revealed

If CW is purportedly concerned about visitor's information being disclosed, then I would assume CW is currently allowed to receive visitors and therefore is no longer under suicide watch.

In terms of the Commissary account, barring actually depositing funds into CW's account, it was allowing me to access his account via the Weld County Jail to deposit money which of course I was not going to do but CW appeared to be in the system and available to deposit into his Commissary account.
Sorry, I'm confused. What does CW having a commissary account open or not tell us about the trial or the crimes?

Welcome Riolove. Love posts from lawyers to give insight into what is important in the court of law. We have such great lawyers at WS that explain things to us.

Thank you! Ive been lurking for years, but now as an attorney, I am glad I can maybe provide some help in terms of legal details :)

I said nothing about visitors. Per the article I linked, CW does not have commissary privileges. I’m going to rely on People Magazine’s reporting until they report otherwise.
