Imo I can’t conceive experiments of cutting a hole in a paper and simulating disposing of a child in a tank. It seems as if CW has confessed to this crime. The person on AB have his “could have” “if” the oil “could have been “ at such a level. We will find out the details at the hearing. <modsnipped> There will be court testimony about all of this.
If I had a 3 year old handy I would have tried it myself. I appreciate it when WS posters research and explore new facts, especially when they may link to forensic evidence pertaining to a case. Far more interesting than rehashing the same old facts over and over, and certainly better than speculating about the victim's life and mindset. When I first came to this site it's what I expected would make it different from other boards. So thank you to everyone who's asked/answered questions about the law, legal procedure, oil tank design, doorbell cameras, baby monitors, home values and the like.

My computer is glitching and I can't see who did the experiment with the hole size and the child, but whoever you are thank you. I'm quite certain you didn't say "come here honey so I can see if I would have to break your arms off to fit you in this hole like the mean man did to his little girl". I'm sure they thought it was a fun game.

And to @Seattle1 -- thank you so much for doing the research to find out that you could remove some bolts and make the opening even bigger. That's EXACTLY the kind of thing I hope to learn by coming on here. And in this particular case I'll sleep a little better knowing the hole could possibly have been made a bit bigger.

And I have a request--if anyone feels the need to criticize another poster's attempts to research or understand the case, please think twice. I know I have had to bite my tongue and leave the board several times so as not to offend a poster. Even when I think they deserve to be offended and know it would feel extremely satisfying to do so.

Sorry MassGuy, but I had to call the authorities and report you for this string and ruler experiment. I was going to ignore it, but I think you also forced her to visit Santa last Christmas, so this is the last straw.
Ha! I once sprayed her with a water gun, so I have an established pattern of child abuse.

There's an unusual phenomenon where a person has empathy for a confessed killer and not for the victim.

I also think, as someone said a while back, that some people *must* believe that SW was responsible (either directly or indirectly) because to believe otherwise would be to believe that CW was hiding his true self all along and was really a murderous firecracker waiting to explode. With that kind of knowledge, it would mean that hardly anyone is "safe." I see it a lot with friends and even complete strangers. They will absolutely GRILL me on the details of my child loss. They often ask very invasive questions, questions that sometimes start with, "Well, did you not..." Or they'll say, "Well with MY child I..." There is never outright blame, but the blame is there nevertheless. I get it. They need to find a reason to blame us because, otherwise, they'd have to admit to themselves that it could happen to THEM.

When burying a beloved pet, it's a extremely emotional time for family members. Pets are part of our family.
I sorry for your loss. I too loss of a beloved cat.
How you care for the vehicle (the body) that carried your beloved through life is part of every culture in the world. Primitive cultures did it thousand and thousand of years ago.
And not one culture has hit upon the great idea of throwing their dead in crude oil.

Goodnight everyone.

From our VI, Colorado303 (Thread 23):
Found Deceased - CO - Shanann Watts (34), Celeste"Cece" (3) and Bella (4), Frederick, 13 Aug 2018 *Arrest* #23

Thank you. It’s been hard losing her and some of the post-crime character dissection afterward has almost been worse. i can honestly say in the time that I knew her I NEVER ONCE heard Shanann judge another person, speculate on anyone’s character or criticize others behind their back. She was all about encouraging people to be their best, and she was a positive energy in many lives imcluding mine. It warmed my heart to see how genuinely happy she was when one of her friends accomplished something. Job success, weight loss, relationship victories, adult graduations, new babies — she rooted for it all and celebrated when it happened.

She would never have dreamt of questioning someone’s life, motivation and character the way hers is being picked apart by total strangers. And she’s not even here to defend herself. It’s the main reason I decided to go through the effort to be a VI. Everything she valued is being questioned and she deserves to have somebody try to keep baseless rumors at bat. It’s what she would have done in a heartbeat for a friend if she were here.

Crying with laughing right now lol!

Yes, but the real question is what does your closet look like? ;-)

Thank you for doing that, though. It helps take an abstract concept gleaned from television into something that's a little more tangible.

I vote gitana1 becomes a prosecutor, goes to Colorado, and takes him down, lol! I'd love to see her in a courtroom in any scenario actually. Amazing.
Yes! I even have people who will help her carry the heavy stuff into her new home!

Hey you... proud of you. Welcome back to posting.

Amazing post.

I struggle with the stand point that it's a normal reaction to dispose of a body and cover up a murder. It's not a dark comedy where a visitor has died and the homeowner fears they'll be blamed so they set about hiding the body in bizarre ways.
This is a family with children who loved their parents and should've been safe from harm and protected at all costs.
CW's actions speak only to his guilt and was committed for x,y,z reasons only known to himself.
He hoped he'd be one of the small percentage to escape justice, maybe he thought he'd win lotto too, don't we all? :p Not a chance now, buddy! JMO

We haven’t heard about one. After the bodies were found, there is no way he would have taken one. It’s not admissible in court, and LE apparently didn’t believe him for a second anyway.

He was going to be charged with 5 counts of murder, regardless of what any possible polygraph would say.
Agreed. I should have mentioned I was not interested in results but what he would have said to any request(s). Technically, at the time of his confession, they had not uncovered the bodies, just located them.

Uh oh, you better not play the pie in the face game with your niece and nephew or else you will be in serious trouble! ;)

Ha! I bet there's a whole thread of people here ready to hop on a plane to help with that! (Cheaper your way though) ;) @gitana1

That’s true. I imagine that they would have brought it up at some point, but they may not have had the ability to do it right away. I would have asked him to take it on day one, if only to gauge his reaction.

I have never had that, although I had to make a police statement for an unexpected and sudden death and when we had gone through the events of that morning, a police person asked me why I had not bathed her, when she first woke in the morning in what I perceived to be a slightly accusing tone.
It was 5 am in the depths of winter.
I was more hurt by the number of friends who told me that they would not have been able to bear the death of one their children and would kill themselves if it happened to them. One of them did lose a child under the same circumstances a few years later and they are still alive, so obviously they just said that for the drama content or to push home the fact that they loved their children more than I did. Turns out, they didn't.

You are always very thoughtful and gracious! Thank you for keeping up with us, we know it is not easy as a VI.

Yes, that was what I was wondering but wasn't clear...gauging his reaction. If I were them, I would have asked again at the time of confession just for that.

I find it strange that anyone who could defend a man who squeezed his little girls into oil tanks would be offended by a very tame string and ruler experiment.

You managed to take everything I've been thinking and sum it up into a single sentence. Kudos!

Do we think CW will be advised to shave his beard for trial, assuming it comes to a trial? I do not know what the consensus is by trial attorneys. Does having a beard or mustache on a defendant accused of heinous crimes inadvisable because it can possibly have a subconscious effect on jurors/public? E.g. hiding your facial expressions or looking tougher or less open? Just curious. It is interesting to me all the ways in which a defendant's appearance can be altered to present the most wholesome image possible.

EDITED TO ADD: I know this is hardly critically important, but I saw a pause in the convo here and thought I would ask :)
I think it's a great question and curious to see what people think.
