I'm not a pharmacist. I don't know what exact effects the patches could have. But they can't be nothing and also be something. Either they're glorified, expensive band aids that do nothing (snake oil) or they have ingredients that effect a person in some way, beneficial or not.

Yes they could have adverse effects as glorified expensive band aids, like an adhesive allergy (been there).

I don't personally believe they impacted this crime in and of themselves, the business aspect perhaps, but it's disingenuous to say they're so benign to surely be fine for pregnancy and couldn't possibly adversely affect someone in a psychotropic manner but they also weren't just a scam, essentially.

I would think the defense would be remiss not to at least explore any role the ingredients could have played.

I meant to add this which is also from WebMD:

Pregnancy and breast-feeding: There is not enough reliable information about the safety of taking green coffee if you are pregnant or breast feeding. Stay on the safe side and avoid use..

Don’t most expectant mothers stop using caffeine? And most certainly I would hope they don’t smoke!

It used to be mother's were encouraged to avoid caffeine all together while they were pregnant, but the thinking has changed over the years. Here are two reputable sources stating limiting intake is recommended:

Caffeine Intake During Pregnancy

Is caffeine consumption safe during pregnancy?

Could SW have withdrawl from the black patches would it cause radical mood swings if she stopped because of pregnancy

So she either takes her kids to the hospital too much or risks their health. She can't win.

We don't know what their finances are/were ; hard to say if divorce would impact her lifestyle. She survived one divorce; I'm sure she could have done it again.
SW's job was to promote an affluent lifestyle. Her previous divorce didn't involve children or that particular job and she did publicly describe it created some very dark moments in her life. JMO

I hope they do, just so I can watch the prosecutor’s face.

This argument would incidentally have an effect on CW’s face, as the foreman reads the guilty verdicts.

As I am sure most divorces would. She ultimately bounced back, and I am sure she would have done so again.

I don't understand all this talk about the patches.I don't see what it has to do with the murder case at all.

If she hadn't had dark moments it would be said "look how cold she was".

Patches + An affluent lifestyle > Proven lies + Affairs + Hiding bodies/Evidence apparently. I don't get it either.

Sealed, pending the results of any court action. The media will challenge any ruling that doesn’t release them.

So using the Thrive patch with green tea and vitamins that she said her OB approved now shows a reckless disregard for her unborn child, therefore she killed the girls?

As opposed to CW who actually did kill his unborn child.

Tons of people watched her videos and are involved with Thrive. I’m sure she wasn’t the first to ever get pregnant. She said her OB said it was safe. No one was up in arms saying she was risking her child’s life at the time she said that, that we know of. We haven’t heard anyone state there was a question about using them against doctor’s orders or risking her pregnancy.

So are we saying SW lied to her vast public about the safety of the patches which would be easily checked, or that the OB lied when he/she said it was safe?

Just clarifying the defense strategy here.

Thanks MassGuy, I thought they would be, I presume the details won’t be released until during the trial if there is one. Or unless the media is successful with their challenge.

Those would be possible side-effects, so it's possible that a doctor simply checked her heart rate and asked her if she'd suffered any of the other side effects and she wasn't personally suffering from any of them and so they said that as she doesn't seem to be suffering ill-effects then her usage is ultimately her decision to make.

As it's a type of coffee bean and increased heart rate and insomnia are listed as possible side-effects, I'm thinking that the active ingredient would be caffeine? So a doctor might see it as akin to a woman deciding whether or not to have a cup of coffee in the morning while pregnant? But other doctors might take a more cautionary approach and advise against its use as they don't have evidence to say that it couldn't cause harm.

Considering there are still women who smoke during pregnancy, if one of them was found with their children dead and dumped by their husband who lied to cover up their deaths, would their smoking be a 'smoking gun' to suggest they killed the children? While I would not support their smoking during pregnancy I don't see as it would have that kind of impact on the question of whether they or the husband killed the children?
Both nicotine and caffeine cross the placenta so there is absolutely no way any OB can know whether it is harmful just by checking the heart rate of the mother. I do not believe any OB handling a high-risk pregnancy is going to approve of patches containing caffeine and vitamins in unknown quantities. JMO

I still think there’s a chance we see something beforehand, even if it is redacted. The law is on the side of disclosure.

I have one other thing to add. A Colorado man got stupid on marijuana edibles and killed his wife.
this is interesting. Just wondering if you think that CW ate edibles? or are you using that statement as a comparison like, 'if marijuana edibles can make a husband murder his wife, maybe these patches can too?' I have never thought about the possibility of CW having any type of substance abuse issue- but people have all kinds of hidden character flaws, I guess one could argue that if he has multiple AP's (thus showing a propensity to lie/engage in risk taking behavior) maybe he DID use legal/illegal substances and we just haven't heard yet? Not that it excuses or defends the horrible events of that evening...

He got 30 years. The marijuana wasn't proven to have caused him to murder. I don't think Thrive patches caused cw to commit any crimes but I'd guess his defense would want to explore the idea.

Have mothers murdered their children after their husbands left them for another relationship? Absolutely. JMO
He didn't leave her. He murdered her. Yes, mothers have murdered their children after their husbands left them, but not even one of those husbands hid all the bodies afterwards.
