Looooooooooooong shot here, I've driven myself crazy looking for news video. Does anyone remember? It was likely Aug 12th or 13th. Live newscast and it showed NAU (we did not know who she was at that point in time) in the street infront of the Watts house holding a toddler, she swept the hair off her face and also moved her toddlers hand off her face.

TIA if anyone knows that video I'm looking for. It was on Denver news 4 or 7 or 9 or 31.
I remember, but I don't have time to look for it at the moment. It was Zora Stephenson, Fox31 IIRC.

The actual facts are that none of his current friends are coming forward publicly in his defense. Many of us are wondering why.
I think that if it were a "normal" husband kills wife situation, his friends, should he really have any might be willing to speak up for moral support. But the murdering of a fetus, murdering babies, throwing them in oil, leaving mom and fetus to get torn apart by turkey vultures, hey, good luck on defending that.

I have no agenda except justice. Moo the claims by others seem weak as to even Ab has not interviewed him since his suspicious dropped call interview. IMO her character will be questioned as to some level during the trial. IMO it is hard to find a balance as to looking into things done find questionable or odd and others not assume Victim shaming . I don't believe anyone believes SW regardless of whatever character flaws she may or may not have is to blame for her death. Cw has accused her so it will be examined if probable she killed the girls IMO. If one believes she may have had motive or capability of strangling the girls then that is not IMO an agenda it is an exploration to see if it is relative.
I would imagine AB has been calling the T’s non-stop trying to get them to give interviews. I know she’s been calling other witnesses but they’re declining her invitation. IMO they think the badgering is annoying and they’ve seen the kind of liberties she’s taken speculating (often inaccurately) about case facts and them personally and they don’t want to have anything to do with her.

Has every person who confessed to a crime been convicted of said crime?
With this much evidence to back up those parts of their confession, I believe so. Do you have any theories as to why he would confess if he did not do those things?

Well if you give him the benefit of the doubt for that shouldn't you do the same for Shannan and not say she dominated him in this relationship?

I thought I clearly stated before IMO but if not, IMO

I don't see anything wrong with that. The problem is that sometimes people close to someone are so willing to hide their inner feelings, and to gain acceptance from someone more outgoing, doing everything the other person wants, being everything the other person wants them to be, eventually they snap from all of that "faking it".

And after, what, 8 years of being together (with 6 of those years being married), that's an incredibly long time for someone to being "faking it" and putting on a front to please others. I don't know if this was the case, but if it was, SW's increasing success with Thrive in the year leading up to the murders was probably the straw that broke the camel's back. AKA, mask completely unhinged. Jmo

“They were supposed to meet up later in the day.”

This is awful to watch. At this time NUA never could have imagined that they were all dead in oil tanks. :(

You say that, but in every other murder I’ve followed there have been friends and neighbors who did come forward.

They said they believed in the innocence ? Or was it the usual, “S/he was a great neighbor. So surprised.”

The first post literally says, "proven guilty." How is it "proven" if not in court? He confessed, but that doesn't "prove" him guilty. The court of public opinion doesn't "prove" a person guilty.
HE CONFESSED! HE SAID HE DID IT! Therefore it has proven by his own words. He's guilty.

"confession" - formal statement admitting that one is guilty of a crime.

He was obviously lying ... again. Lying my omission to Anadarko if he was seeing AP during working hours, or lying to SW when he told her he was somewhere else.
I've wondered if they were field partners, thus having time for quickies.

If there were killed in the house it seems odd to me that the family was allowed in to remove items from the home. However I guess shows they have gathered what they needed
The house was released by LE pretty early on.

Yes, but most people only knew them as rumors for a long time. And people were looked down upon if they besmirched his name. hMost of that was because there was no internet back then so it probably would have been confirmed much sooner (similar to how FDR was able to hide the extent of his polio for so long). My point being, people questioning shannans videos (okay not the crazy people calling her all sorts of names and saying they’re glad she’s dead—yes they are speaking ill of the dead) are not all speaking ill of the dead and are disrespecting her. They are just questioning their relationship and what impact it had on CW’s actions. Ultimately he is responsible for his behavior but as true in life no decision is ever made in a vacuum. IMO
We must be referring to different comments. I'm speaking to the disrespect in making outrageous accusations with absolutely no basis in fact. And I don't care to repeat those ridiculous accusations here, in fact, we have been told by a moderator here NOT to bring them up, so I'll leave it at that.

Co-worker guys had to know he was, um, "dating" the co-worker AP, IMO, and they 1) either hid that or 2) let Shan'nan know one way or another. It might be that guys are more willing to wink at each other in this situation than women are.

I have known about affairs at work. Unless it was a close friend, I never would even dream of telling someone.

It’s my opinion (MOO) and our trial lawyer @Amandaaa has agreed that in her professional opinion, they’d be advised to stay quiet at this time to protect the investigation.
Well, yes that would be true for any witnesses but would not apply to the many individuals who knew CW from school, work or any other way from his past. At his age, there must have been plenty of people from his past who knew him. So far the ones who have been interviewed have been consistent with descriptions of him. I think what is relevant may be that even those that he was seemingly close to, did not really know him and some were easily deceived by him. However, people who feel no guilt or remorse cannot hide that for long so I think that is why his friends and neighbors became convinced that there was something wrong. Jmo

My post was less about his specific confession and more about the accuracy of language.

I don't think his confession was false, no.

I began this case with viewing the porch interview, and my thought was, "my God he killed them all!"

Then when I heard his story, for some reason something about it "rang true" for me, much to my surprise and, honestly, dismay. So I had reasonable doubt for quite some time. I'm mostly off that fence, but still leaning against it, as I just think there's more to it. I think it's definitely more likely than not that he killed them all, but I'm not completely discounting his story yet.

The Thayers did defend CW, tried to ignore what others were saying, and even took him in until the facts just did not add up anymore and CW's behavior could no longer be explained away. They were GOOD friends willing to go to bat for their friend and ended up calling LE after what they observed. And they started off with trust in him, history, and keeping an open mind. And even that wasn't enough.

Even if CW did have friends before this, I can't imagine anyone defending him now or signing their name to any character endorsement. In different interviews or commentary, people seem surprised he did this because it's such a horrific crime, but it's true no one is coming out and saying are you kidding me??? This is the greatest guy I ever met, I can't even believe HE did this. It seems like he was just sort of "there", nice enough nondescript guy, but not making any strong impression on anyone of what strong character he had.

You need not yell.

I value accuracy in language, and "proven guilty" is what happens with a conviction, not a confession. We can agree to disagree.
