I think if there were any signs that the AP was involved, we'd see a change in charges and an arrest-though I totally get why you would speculate that. It truly IS hard to imagine CW doing what he did but, then, that's what people say a lot about family annhilators.
True, very true. I kept thinking about his barbeque the night before- to me, I wouldn't BBQ just for myself. But there have been times when I've fixed the kids some chicken nuggets and mac n cheese, fed them and put them to bed, and then hubby has grilled a nicer, more "adult" meal for us, and we've had a stay at home date kind of night- which made me wonder if that's what happened that last night with CW and the girls. They did the bday party, came home, got baths and he fed them, put them to bed a bit early, and then AP came over, and they had a mini-date before SW got home. When SW's flight was delayed, AP decided to stay over and just planned to leave in the morning before the girls woke up. And then of course, SW got home and things hit the fan.
I don't know what evidence they would find of AP being there, as a co-defendant, that would let them charge her as long as CW is taking the full blame for killing SW and blaming the girls' deaths on SW. It has crossed my mind though, that it's odd that CW would lie about having the affair with AP- if she's a coworker, then I'm sure folks knew, right? But if he was trying to distract law enforcement and keep them from looking to her, he might lie and say she didn't exist, or they were broken up. If LE found proof of her existence in the house- say bodily fluids on the sheets, or whatever, then he could confirm there was an affair. But without other witnesses, and with him giving a story that doesn't include AP having a role in it, and DNA evidence likely ruined because of the oil tanks/burial/etc, it's hard to say.
And maybe I'm just looking for an explanation that's just not there. It's just so hard to wrap my brain around how an apparently loving father and husband, a man whose former classmates and employers all agreed was passive and laidback and non-violent, could snap like this. I could totally understand it if he were a drug user or drinker, or if those patches had some weird stimulant or something in them instead of just herbs. It's just the oddest case to me.
