Do you know what? When he mentioned in his interview his house seemed to him like a "ghost town" and he had the lights up all night just in case they would "return" - I thought he might have been really afraid of their poor souls haunting him. If it was not that sad it would be somehow funny...
It was said here earlier, he was "waiting for a knock at the door", and could likely have been leaking more truth in his lies, afraid it would be a knock on the door from police.

I think mentioning, SW was not making videos, towards the end, may be significant.
Perhaps, she realised the marriage was not going well.
She may have known about the Affair, as we do know at the Hairdresser's, the statement of possible separation.

I agree, if she’d just found out about the affair, she may have been feeling some heartbreak and making videos would be the last thing on her mind IMO.

I sincerely hope no one is approaching her to have book rights or movie rights at this time, as we have seen in previous cases where if somebody does that, it diminishes them when they get on the stand and are a witness and the defense is all over them As to their Financial motives.
She would be the star witness like Amber Frey. So Im sure the prosecution will remind her of certain things.

My first post! I hope I’m not repeating - as I’ve tried to read through all of the last thread but I’ve got 3 kiddos here :) )

Regarding the kinder situation. I’ve moved around quite a bit. In Fl, I found it to be unusual for kids to start “school” meaning a private daycare or church offering a curriculum of learning with a teacher before state founded pre-k within the school systems. When I moved to TX my youngest was three- there is no state funded (meaning paid for by the state- not you) pre-K and it was the usual here to put kids starting around 3 in church or private preschools - half days 2, 3 or more days a week. Those schools also offer a kindergarten option. I would imagine her daughter started one of these programs earlier bc they are less strict about age cut offs. Just a clarification for those confused about why the kids would be in daycare or if she was starting kinder in the public schools. Had I not lived here I might be confused about a lot of that.

I also have read the flight to NC was difficult and in my opinion and the opinions of others, his trip out was to help with the flight home.

You guys are great and I’ve really enjoyed reading all your posts, this entire situation in tragic

Welcome millermills, your first post.:):):)
Thanks for the info about Kinder etc for kids.
As you have little ones, you can probably relate to the enjoyment children have, from the various games as seen on videos made by SW.

Isn’t the burden on the prosecutor to prove CW’s guilt?

Good question Tippy.

He already confessed to the murder among other felonies. But he says there was a reasonable why.

So its now up to the defense to somewhat prove that reason with the hopes of minimizing some of the charges at hand. Jmo.

In my experience prosecutors have no problem really laying the guilt on witnesses to stress how important it is for them to not talk to the media or anyone else before the trial. Most witnesses take these things very seriously. I'm sure it's a very hard time for whoever it is, regardless of how involved or not involved the relationship was.

It is horrifying that he dumped them in crude oil. If he tried to dismember them, it is nauseating to even think of it. And it is an understatement.
I think the reason ppl are tentatively suggesting that is because the 8" diameter hole is so small, if that turns out to be accurate, which I think it is. I'd think that it would be more a matter of shoving, disgusting as that imagery is. Even I don't think he would actually cut them up, the point I was making is that there is an obvious difference in a body where the bones have naturally disarticulated vs one that has been butchered.

I guess it will depend on how he pleads.

Does it help that we have no choice but to keep going back to the same concerns every few threads (or every thread sometimes)? :)

And we shall be, until the trial starts. No new information, sadly.

Not necessarily 100%, as many people here think he is going for defense of others, and that is an affirmative defense. (the defendant has the burden to prove the affirmative defense, but it is only by a preponderance of the evidence vs. Prosecution has to prove there's by Beyond A Reasonable Doubt) Until one of the lawyers gets here to explain affirmative defense better, here is legal stuff to read for your pleasure.

Heck, he could even use that, combined with " mistake of fact defense" to really confuse the jurors! ( e.g. He was mistaken that Celeste was alive?) then it gets really confusing and we would need one of our lovely lawyers to really explain that one!

Wow.I had better not show a video of me and my son having a food fight.I threw ice cream in his face and we had a great time joking around.

In the street, where I live, there are a bunch of kiddies, playing, screeching, crying sometimes, enjoying themselves, with parents joining in or supervising their games.:):)
Analysing these kids, as here in this case, does not help, in picking faults, or specifying why there may be errors in these games, or how the parents cause problems.

Agree.

He definitely has some explaining to do. Its like Jodi leaving the camera in the washer or something.

LE would have been thrilled with CW's Oscar performance, during his media interviews.
As we are.
CW spilled the beans completely.
They probably sit around now, having a laugh, at his stupidity.
I also wonder, if LE perhaps had something to do with these interviews: getting CW to speak early, being unaware, he was being critically observed.
Then we get the Police interviews, and CW is charged.
CW had little time for his freedom, and there will never again, be any freedom for him.
MOO.

IIRC, the Frederick Police Department verified SW and the girls never came home on Monday night, and they called in the CBI and FBI by 7 a.m. Tuesday morning, but in all three interviews on Tuesday afternoon, CW only talks about the FPD. He seems completely oblivious the other LE agencies were called in. He gave his interviews Tueday afternoon, IIRC, but there are dogs heard barking inside the house, throughout the neighborhood and an officer even parades a dog into the house, through the front door within view of CW and the camera.

My guess is investigators with the CBI and/or the FBI were sitting inside CW's house with the FPD, setting up his interviews and watching them live as he gave them. INO, the FPD knew by Monday that the only way SW and the girls left the house was in CW's truck early Monday morning. By very early Tuesday, they knew they never came back.

When would LE bring dogs into a house to find scents? Would it take hours and hours to find a scent, in a big house? I think dogs were brought inside the house roucea ASAP - first thing Tuesday morning and I think by the time CW gave his interviews, if scents were found,

c In a case > has good reason to think a crime has happened in a house, when would they bring in dogs? I think would be ASAP on Tuesday morning and I don't think it would take hours and hours, all day long of sniffing to find a scent, even in a big house. JMO, if a dog alerted, it was Monday morning and if that happened, I think LE knew what it meant.

JMO - what would be the purpose rmdIthey hadI

rbing indogs e has Le would LE bring dogs in to get scents in a house they How longCW thought it was only the FPD. directing his media interviews, when I think LE sat inside his house and gave directions to other LE to get the dogs to bark loudly, inside the house and throughout the neighborhood. In one interview, an officer is bringing a dog into the house, in direct view of CW and the camera.

CW was lying and they knew it, but he wouldn't stop lying.

My background is in Psychology, Child Development, Special Education, and regular Ed. , and "baffled" is the same word I would use to describe it. I just can't understand. I worked with preschool age kids for many years, who had a variety of health issues, as they were Early Intervention students. Water play was the most looked forward to part of the day for the kids during summer school. I think I mentioned before, one summer the sprinkler broke and we used a hose to spray the kids. Obviously approved by administration, as the rules are very strict. The kids were so disappointed when the sprinkler broke that we wanted to come up with some way they could still have their "water play."
Someone mentioned that at least it wasn't a hose Shanann used. A squirt bottle is harmless, in my opinion. We had many kids ask to sprayed on their head, in their mouth, and everywhere. We never had a parent complain, in fact they had to give permission and none refused. It never occurred to me that spraying those kids could be considered hostile or abusive. I just don't see it. Jmo

I agree. I don't have your professional credentials working with children, but I was once a little girl. My sisters and I still talk about how much fun it was on the summer afternoons our mother would surprise us with the water hose in the back yard.

We ran and screamed - not in fear, but in joyful anticipation. No one ever got hurt, and no one was even remotely psychologically damaged because we got squirted with water. Quite the opposite. It was really fun when our mom acted silly and played with us.

Are we cherry picking videos again? I thought that was done. SW’s parenting, whether you agree with it or not, did not cause her to be murdered. IMO, if I were the grandparents, I’d be happy to have the memories of the girls having fun.

A great reply.:):):)
Memories, such as these videos will be treasured by all that loved SW and her children, especially the grandparents.
People can criticise all they want, who cares, as this criticism is so insignificant with CW murdering his entire family.

  • #355
STOP the parenting debate now, everyone. This is one of the fastest ways to get a thread shut down. Do you all remember the recent family annihilator case of the Hart family? The 2 moms who drove their entire family off a cliff, killing everyone? We no longer have an open thread for that case primarily because members made everything personal and turned the thread into a giant parenting debate and pretty much forgot about the missing and murdered children.

We're not going to do that in this case, okay? When you or I or my next door neighbor puts their children to bed or wakes them up does not matter. Whether we give our kids sugar or think it's poison does not matter.

Please stay on topic. This is about Shan'ann's murder and the murder of her beautiful children. It's not about you, me, or anyone else. Don't take posts personally.

2 of my most vivid memories of my Dad: my sister, bro and I literally screaming with joy as he ran after us with a long water hose, then we would run after him. All of us soaked. The other memory, we went to some farm and got a bunch of peas in the pod. While shelling them we started to throw them at each other, there were peas all over the house for days. I feel sorry for kids who DON'T have parents who go a little silly with them, like Shan'nan did.

If we look at the first thread, when SW was missing, I remember watching his act on tv, and KNEW in a heartbeat that he was the killer. His story was a bit too embellished, he was acting, literally preening and enjoying the attention.

He acted like a peacock, showing off, what he has: stupidity.:D
His family are gone, and now he is so important, as they no longer take all the limelight.
This is now, his time.
He forgets to state, "I murdered them".
Well, he won't need to say another word, as the Prosecution with will pick him to pieces.
MOO.

After His Pregnant Wife Vanishes, Husband Said Their Marriage Was Having Problems: Report
That’s when, Atkinson said, Chris allegedly made a surprising disclosure.
I didn’t find out that they were going to separate or anything like that until I called Chris that morning,” she told ABC. “When I called him and asked him where she was, that’s when he told me and I basically told him that that wasn’t my [concern] at that particular moment, because it wasn’t and that their business was their business, that they would either work it out or they wouldn’t.”
BBM
I wonder how many weeks CW may have been planning their murders. The VI who was a friend or family member of CW said he had told SW multiple times that he wanted out of their marriage. Maybe he just told HIS family and friends when he went back to NC for that final week. He could have told them not to mention it to SW or her family because she hadn't told them herself because she was still in denial.

Yes, there was the employee at her mom's salon who mentioned a possible separation but SW's closest friends didn't seem to know anything about a separation. NUA was her best friend, had just spent the AZ trip with her and was the last person to see her alive. She first heard from CW about a marital separation the first day they went 'missing'.

Idk, maybe it's just me but I would confide in my best friend before my own family. I never tell a family member something I wouldn't want everyone else in my family to know because they just aren't good at keeping secrets.

Anyway, my theory is that CW was planting the seeds in NC for his family and friends to back up his story about him wanting a separation. I think he even told them that she was threatening to take the girls and he would never see them again if he left her.

And if only his friends and family knew about a separation, that pretty much rules out him killing them in a rage because it means he was planning to kill them for weeks. MOO

NUA will be wonderful in Court.:):)
The Prosecution, will uncover all these points, and we will hear about the nature of her beautiful friend SW.

Yes, and he had just spent 5 weeks in the house alone recently. I was also disturbed by his failure to comment on what THEY might be going through...only what he is going through.

EDITED TO ADD: some might explain this by the fact that we know he was lying and he knew he was lying. But it is telling in that THIS is what he thought people would want to hear. This is how he saw his family gone - what it did to him. All about him.

I also remember how he smiled during the interview - on two occasions. Both times when saying how he missed the kids.

I assume he was happy he got rid of all this work, all the need to take care of them. I always thought SW was the main reason, but now I think that he felt tired and overwhelmed by all the need to take care of the girls and was happy to get rid of them forever. This is why even the knowledge that he was going to have a boy did not stop him. In his mind, it was more work and more sleepless nights.
I remember Scott Peterson not wanting to have the kids but being OK with Amber Frey's boy. People were surprised why. To me it makes sense. Amber's child was grown - no diapers, no breastfeeding, no sleepless nights. And usually the expectations from the stepfather are different than from biofather. But there are men who hate taking care of young kids because it is a lot of work.
