Not that he can't get the message out, but there seem to be some who think his stating that SW killed the girls shouldn't even be allowed and/or is or should be a crime in itself.

It would be a crime if he is lying. And so far, it appears that the circumstances lead more to it being a lie than the truth.

NOTHING that he did after the tragic incident, makes sense if she was there killer instead of him. Not calling for help, not reporting it, disposing of the bodies, in a way which would likely ruin much of the forensic evidence, and in a way which is disrespectful towards his loved ones, not being gridf stricken the next day, but being able to lie and cover up and go to work like it is a regular day...etc etc etc...

BBM. We do not know what was in his first confession.
Where does it say that there was the first confession which followed with the second?

Well, hypothetically, if she killed the girls and told him nobody would believe him, she's not wrong... hypothetically

NO, if he had called 911 immediately, for help reviving his baby, and help in PRESERVING THE CRIME SCENE, and he hadn't strangled his wife, thus killing his only remaining child, and acted casual and upbeat while he lied for the next 48 hours, then he probably would have been believed. JMO

Bolded by me...
A Police Officer was on our local news, about safety tips.
One of the tips were, if you can't afford a security system, use your car key alarm button.
If someone is/has breaking into your house. Or if some emergency is happening in your house, push the car alarm button on your keychain.
Your car alarm will go off, the perp will get spooked and run away or the neighbors will hear it.
I wish more people knew about this.
An excellent idea! Thank you.

We know that he initially denied knowing where his family was, and denied having an affair.

After he spoke with his father, his story changed to SW strangled the kids, I strangled her, and dumped their bodies.

This confession was misreported as CW confessing to killing them all.

On 8/16 SW's brother posted that CW had admitted to killing them all. It is really a stretch to think that he just got the details wrong at that point. This is his sister and nieces!

Are you totally sold on this as being the defense’s tactic? Based on what I’ve seen from them so far, I have to think they’re smarter than that... social media usage (in cases) is so commonplace now - and the element of surprise is the critical component. I would be incredibly surprised if they’d made such a rookie mistake by highlighting it up front.

I think it’s all just been brought to the forefront by armchair critics with nothing better to do.

What makes you think it’s the defense?

While at first I did think the release of some of it was defense strategy, I don't now. I didn't think at first about how stupid a tactic it would to release this stuff months/years before trial giving the state the ability to be well prepared. Watching this defense I don't now think that was their strategy.

I do believe that they will use this stuff at trial. They literally don't have much else but to drag out every bit of malevolent gossipy dross they can find against SW in a desperate attempt to paint her as a deranged, enraged, immoral, abusive and criminal shrew who decided to kill her kids when he said it was over.

There's nothing else. We don't have a "some other dude did it" opportunity here and I don't believe he is going to have a chance in hell at insanity. If it didn't work for the Aurora murderer who was a psychotic schizophrenic, it ain't going to work for CW.

He's left with a heat of passion mitigator and SW as the culprit.

They will pull out all the stops to make that as believable as possible.

Yeah. Well they immediately charged him with all of the killings, so I think there might have been some confusion.

Personally, I don’t believe he ever confessed to all the killings.

You may think CW is a vile human being who did unspeakable things and who, to save his own hide tried blaming someone else (I’d be a millionaire for every suspect who tried blaming someone else for their crimes) but I have no idea why he’s responsible for circles of people sending him letters because these same people find him attractive and can’t separate fantasy from reality. IMO

It has nothing to do with anything he’s done since his arrest-nor is it his fault. If anything I’m sure it’s a great surprise to him and unfortunately
likely an ego booster as well.

His appeal or the motivation to exonerate him in spite of what has already been established is more of a cultural phenomenon that is rooted in the fact that some people (and several women) don’t want to believe he is guilty, and feel a need to lay blame on his deceased spouse instead. This translates to one of them being the “good guy” while the other has to be “the bad guy”, and he can’t be the bad guy if that also makes him guilty of killing his children. The reasons some people respond to it like this are complex and it is a difficult thing to coin.

I agree with you. The public found all the social media postings without the defense's help. The defense also can't control how the public perceives the videos. I think the element of surprise will come at trial and that is the way it should be.

It's not that he was wrong, but the information he was provided with was inaccurate.

I don't think so. High emotion and probably all he heard was "confession".

Plus there is absolutely no way they would omit that little gem from the probable cause statement, IMO.

Oh yes, I'd like to see CW take the stand but I doubt the Defense will do that. I'll bring along popcorn...
I think CW will take the stand. He has nothing to lose and everything to gain by telling the jury how bad and of unsound mind SW was to him and the children.

The trial will be extremely ugly. JMO

Who said he was responsible?

Well, if his porch interviews are anything to go by, if he takes the stand it will be very interesting. Of course his DT will have coached him, but still. I think it would be a very bad move by the DT to put CW on the stand because he's not very likable and he stammers when he's lying.

Yeah, I didn’t even think about that. “He initially confessed to killing them all, then retracted his statement,” would be a huge thing to leave out.

Yeah but then they get to absolutely eviscerate him on cross. And I don't think he's going to have the opportunity for the extensive acting lessons he would need to learn how to act like a human being, before trial.
