I think he confessed because he knew it was over. LE presented him with enough evidence to show his guilt.
He made up his crazy story as a last resort hoping to buy some time.IMO
He confessed because cops found the sheet on a drone search and the disturbed area of dirt nearby and started questioning him about it Also confronted him with proof of the affair. He had to confess at that point because he knew they were going to find at least SW body on their own.

It’s clear that he regrets doing that.

Really? If he regretted it so much he wouldn’t have gone on television acting like a victim. It’s clear you have an agenda so I’m gonna just keep moving along.

I think Shanann being buried vs put in the oil is as simple as him not being able to carry her up the ladder to put her in. He possibly didn't have time to bury her sufficiently...perhaps thinking he could come back later. If this was premeditated her flight being delayed really threw a wrench in his plan as did her friend checking on her. What an awesome friend! (Even thought she's selling Thrive in her name now, because "that's what Shanann would have wanted." *eyeroll*

It was days after they were deceased that the bodies were found. I don't think that an autopsy can differentiate if they were killed within 3 hours of each other, if two of them were one hour before the other. I just don't think that differentiation can happen in that short period of time.

I know you're being a devil's advocate on purpose, you have stated that, but this is going to be tiring to go on and on with each scenario.

I agree. During the trial, it's certainly important for the jury to process ALL of the information from both sides. We are not the jury here, though-we're not actually working the case. We are just a random bunch of strangers who are interested in true crime and drawn to this particular case for our own individual reasons. We could pick apart every little scenario and play devil's advocate with it, but so far (and I am sorry for speaking on others' behalves) it seems that most of us are accepting of the state's charges and agree with their version of events-mostly because we've been given no solid reason not to; Chris's own words aren't meaning much at the moment. I think most of us are still raw from what happened (as well as from what happened to Mollie Tibbets) and we're still trying to wrap our heads around the situation. Perhaps on down the road, at the trial maybe, when defense starts challenging the charges and producing evidence to the contrary it will be a different situation; I, for one, may be more open to looking at both sides. Not now, though. The poor victims haven't even been buried yet. As a result, I am not quite ready to give CW any benefit of the doubt.

Apologies if this topic has been put to bed, but I can't keep up the pace of this thread. I was thinking while doing yard work, that if I was "the mistress" I'd want to get out of dodge as soon as I could. Her name will become public sooner rather than later. Somebody other than law enforcement knows who she is. Many people have been on the Shannan side of infidelity and aren't to keen on the concept. If I knew her name, I'd spill . . . and the rags wouldn't have to pay me.

<modsnip: snipped quote that was removed>

Don’t worry, there’ll be a truck load of evidence to the contrary for the jury.

Seriously though. Let’s say that is how it happened. Who, in that extremely stressful situation, would have the presence of mind to then figure out that the best place to hide the bodies is in oil tanks 40 mins away AND dig a grave AND bury a body AND get back to work in time to watch people on doorbell cam AND compose himself enough that he could actively look like he knew nothing. Seriously? He had to have figured out/fantasised about the dumpsite in advance.

Only a psycho could gather his composure in such a way to then act the way he did. What are the chances they were both psycho like that? Slim to none.

My occupational trade is clinical/medical research. it’s not criminal forensics, but it still requires methodical work, and that I remain unbiased and detached. (Let the data speak for itself.)

That said, I would feel more confident believing that a time traveling zombie alien from Planet X was the second gunman on the grassy knoll over this ridiculous story by C.W.

Just MOO.

Its amazing that media just found out about the presentation . You guys found it in what 20 minutes

it all over as breaking on google like it is new info

You know what I did when I found my dead child in the room with my husband*? Although he'd clearly been dead for a while, I called 911 and started CPR and then left with the ambulance. I didn't strangle my husband and dump my child's body in our well. Although I was not in my right mind, either, I still behaved pretty much the way you are meant to. I realize that people react in diffetent ways during trauma but few desecrate the bodies after.

*FWIW, he went into cardiac arrest from an illness we didn't know he had and died in his sleep. My husband didn't kill him; he was asleep on the other side of the room.

Exactly, A parent's notion would immediately start CPR and call 911.

How does he know they were dead when he supposedly found her strangling them?

This story gets worse and worse the more you think about it. It's utterly implausible

Sorry, I have missed these sources that say there was going to be a split/separation, could someone provide a link please?

The nice people (I feel so bad for them ) that gave the long interview was confusing in this regard as well. One time she stated that an affair was like out of the question and then later stated that his wife had expressed to here she wondered if he is was having an affair??

RE There are so many holes in his stories that it could be swiss cheese.

That is why the premeditated angle is doubtful. I do think we will know more ( if they release) his computer stuff. I do think they can retrieve his stuff even if he closed it down to the public .

If you guys disable your FB and in a week could you reopen your account with all your stuff there??

Indeed. if it comes back that he was doing all kinds of searches (not for socks!) indicating he had murder on his mind then we know for a fact it was premeditated. Until then I think it is speculation.

RE Who? Seriously could be that unintelligent?

I just don't get this smart or bright guy either/ If you possess those entities you cant turn them on or off - they are present in every moment.

When it came out that he said to them he will tell them everything after he picked up his dad I thought good lord what an idiot /

In a triple murder tell em I will tell you after running an errand seems flat out stupid !! I don't understand why they let him go - he could have gotten on a plane for all know.

His presentation if anything indicates the opposite! He was schelpy- unkept , dull and simple imo,

Would any of ya tell LE your gonna confess shortly - just let me run to the airport ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh insane stuff

I am telling ya guys when i clicked on the link to that dooze fest I thought someone linked to a wrong thing! If he did state his name early on I was ready to close it! Good lord what a difference between the presentation and the porch

We all know about steroids and rage out of control. That pic of him mowing the lawn is imo steroids and a lot of them !! If anyone knows how it would be interesting to know when it was taken .

Based on media falsehoods for days, (that he confessed to killing his entire family) it never occurred to me what he states happened.

He did not come off to me (you all are smarter than I ) as lying on the porch. He did however (posted such) that he scared me in terms of he got pissed off. His eyes. Maybe that is why I think the confession could of happened- he def looked like he could have a temper.

WHich makes the. thus far .lack any DV history is both telling and surprising . Certainly fits more with a sudden inability to manage rage.

We all are good getting criminal stuff. That stuff about having an arrest history is apparently - like SM claiming he confessed to killing everyone - not true. moo

Or someone in complete shock over what has happened.

Ok, I’ll bite.... once.
We can all absolutely have an opinion, but such serious and heinous charges aren’t brought against someone by flipping a coin. I, like the majority, believe the facts will speak for themselves.

But hey, just for kicks and giggles, let’s pretend we are comprising here. Going with what you two believe:
a. 1 count first-degree murder after deliberation
b. 1 count of first-degree unlawful termination of a pregnancy
c. 3 counts of tampering with a deceased body

a. Maximum = death penalty. Minimum = life in prison
b. Maximum = 48 years in prison
c. Maximum = (12 x 3) 36 years in prison

So based in HIS confession, he’s still either fried, or will die in prison. I don’t see the need to waste the people of Colorado’s money with a trial when he confessed to even 1 charge that carries the minimum of life. But, who am I.

For b and c he should get the maximum (IMO), which is 84 years. Or do you dispute this too?

It’s clear that he regrets doing that.

Where is it clear he regrets doing that? Is there a link suggesting he’s broken down about that fact?

Strangled, strangled from behind with something, smothered w/ pillow! last 2 he wouldn't have to be eye to eye as he did it!!!

Yes, I think he would have done it in their bed, from behind as she fell asleep in the dark.

Or someone in complete shock over what has happened.

He did not appear to be in shock during his news interviews. He seemed nervous. His body language was defensive and he had nervous ticks. To me the rocking is a method to self soothe along with hugging his body with crossed arms.

In the courtroom, In my opinion, he appears to be in shock. He displays zero emotion.

forgot this bit Talisman ( screenshot detail)

That he left the bed sheet out in the field is another reason @MrsWatson would say he'd never have been eligible for Harvard.
( And what happened to that amazing photographic memory his old teacher spoke about? CW can't even remember to pick up the sheet before he drives away from the oil tanks. )

That he left the bed sheet out in the field is another reason @MrsWatson would say he'd never have been eligible for Harvard.

beautifully written and hysterical !!

The teacher also said he was very punctual ( which struck me as odd for a teacher to remember so many years later ) I dont know about you guys but I was on time for class. It did not strike me at the time as something that would be "memorable|!

I grill for myself often if my husband isn’t going to be home in time for dinner. It’s quick and doesn’t heat up my house. I think the grilling thing isn’t really a big deal since there are so many more glaring issues in this case imo

Well, it's kind of a big deal if we assume the charges are correct that this was premeditated. This means CW was either grilling while knowing his wife and babies would be dead in a few hours or grilling with already dead babies. This makes me sick to my stomach.

I'm so, so sorry. This is heartbreaking.

And so infinitely hurtful to SW's family! Adding insult to injury. I think he should be charged with the hurt he's putting her family through. Just disgusting, and putting the frosting on the cake proving what kind of personality SW had the extreme misfortune of marrying. FEH!

I would like to clarify something I posted about the hearing yesterday. First of all I am very hard of hearing. While listening to the proceedings I thought CW's lawyers asked for protective custody for him. I don't believe that is correct. I am sorry for the erroneous statement on my behalf.
I thought I heard this as well. What was requested then?

If I had witnessed what he did and then reacted how he did that night I would want to leave too.

Yep, agree that if I had witnessed what he did as to killing them, and then he reacted by burying them in oil/shallow grave... yeppers..he would want to leave. Exactly as he said he wanted
