Chris Watts, 33, will appear for a status hearing at 2 p.m., according to a statement from the Weld “County District Attorney’s Office. It’s unclear what the newly-scheduled hearing will be about. Denver7 will be in court and report any new developments.“

Chris Watts to appear in Weld County court Tuesday

Would you mind telling me how many hours away this hearing is please? I’m in Australia and it’s 5.30pm Tuesday 6th at the moment. Just in case I wake up in middle of the night!
TIA

I’m going to ask an awful question.

Can we absolutely say for certain at this point that their bodies were intact? Tia.

I think they must have been because of the blood issue if they weren’t. But the question of getting them into the tanks remains if rigor has set in. It would seem that they were not killed until later into the early morning

Did we ever figure out which gym CW went to? This will be an excellent motivator for me to the go the gym (so I can go snoop).

This is what baffles me too liltexans, the screen is way to small! It's a great device for a parent's peace of mind.... if the child is crying, having a fit, the child is missing from their bed or climbing out of a cot or someone in the room with the child who shouldn't be there etc. so many good applications for it but I can't believe CW could see Bella was blue. :/

All of which brings up another big question in my mind....WHY the heck would SW choose to strangle the children, when she knows her husband could see her on the monitors? Wouldn't she assume he could see her, and he would come in and do whatever he had to, to make her stop?

If she really wanted to do the evil deed, for revenge, why not wait a couple hours and do it without any interference from him?

IN all of the other cases, I know of,where parents killed the children , in order to devastate their spouses, they did so when the partner was not present.

What was her endgame, knowing he was there and would be enraged?

Weld County Murder#D622018CR203
8/21/18 Update: Waives his right to Prelim hearing within 35 days, defense wants to postpone next hearing for 60 days, did not enter any plea. Next Status hearing on 11/19.
9/20/18 Update: Motion filed by Prosecutors requesting to block release of autopsy results of all victims until trial.

9/21/18 Update: Watts' defense attorneys filed a motion on Friday (9/21) saying they could not respond to the prosecution's request because they did not yet have the reports. The motion argued the prosecution has not met its "constitutional obligations" to turn over evidence to the defense, and thus was in violation of due process of law and was undermining the fairness of the proceedings. Watts' attorneys also filed a motion requesting a protective order that would allow them to withhold information about confidential jail visits. While Kopcow denied the request, he provided an alternative for the defense. Judge Kopcow handling the Watts case has ordered the prosecution to hand deliver the autopsy reports to Watts' defense attorneys by Tuesday (9/25) after they accused the prosecution of withholding evidence. Judge Kopcow also denied the defense's motion for a protective order that would prohibit the Weld County Sheriff's Office from disclosing information about confidential jail visits.

9/25/18 Update: The autopsy reports for Shanann Watts and her children are not yet available, which is why the prosecution has not provided them to Christopher Watts’ defense attorneys, according to a motion filed Tuesday by Weld County District Attorney Michael Rourke.
10/12/18 Update: DA filed motion to seal autopsy report, Judge denies motion.
10/15/18 Update: The Weld County Coroner Carl Blesch filed a petition Monday requesting the court keep the autopsy reports sealed at this time.
10/19/18 Update: The defense attorneys are asking for a hearing on the coroner's petition to seal the autopsy reports, arguing against the coroner's request for a closed hearing on the issue. In a motion filed to the criminal case against Watts Friday (10/19/18), the defense argues a hearing is necessary to determine the merit of the arguments for sealing the autopsies. According to that motion, the defense also filed a motion to intervene in the coroner's petition, which is a civil case, Friday. The defense said it filed the motion in the criminal case "out of an abundance of caution."
10/23/18 Update: Weld District Attorney Michael Rourke filed a motion Tuesday (10/23) in Weld District Court asking to

be represented at a hearing on whether the autopsy reports in the Watts homicide case should be sealed. The Tribune & other media partners across Colorado have filed a motion contesting the potential seal of the autopsy reports. In the motion to intervene, Rourke argues releasing the autopsy reports could jeopardize the investigation and prosecution of Watts. A hearing on the potential sealing of the autopsy reports has not been set.
10/24/18 Update: Defense attorneys for Watts filed a request on Oct. 12 to file a sealed motion that only the judge, defense and court staff could access. The defense claims that the motion will contain information protected under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, more commonly known as HIPAA. Judge Marcelo Kopcow has approved the defense's request to file a sealed motion containing health information. However, Kopcow said the court would determine if sealing the motion is appropriate once it's filed. Then, the court will determine whether to hold an ex parte hearing, which is held between the judge and requesting party. In this case, the hearing would exclude the prosecution. If the court determines the motion was inappropriately filed as sealed, the court will consider changing it to a suppressed motion, meaning it is accessible to both parties but not the public; or to a public motion. It's unknown whether the sealed motion has been filed.
10/31/18 Update: Weld District Court Judge Todd Taylor has scheduled a hearing to determine if the autopsy reports in the Christopher Watts triple homicide case should be made public. Weld County Assistant Attorney Karin McDougal, who is one of the attorneys representing Weld County Coroner Carl Blesch, filed the hearing notice Tuesday morning. The hearing about the autopsy reports will take place at 9 a.m. Dec. 21. Might be another status hearing on 11/19.
11/3/18 Update: Status hearing on 11/6.

With him in the house and nearby, it also seems like she would have chosen a faster method of killing them. Strangling takes a long time. He could've walked in on her and stopped her at any minute. (I mean, he didn't, but he hypothetically *could* have.)

IMO Im having a hard time understanding why some people don’t believe or find credible the male individual that came forward and that CW had multiple affairs with both men and women. Why is this so hard to believe?

I have no problem believing that CW would/could be interested in having a male lover. But I had a hard time believing this particular person, only because they were originally tweeting about their affair with him, and posting on FB. And that seemed odd and troll like, given the gruesome circumstances.

I would have thought one would first call LE or the FBI, and not post it all over their twitter feed. JMO

Thanks Katy. That's what I was saying as well. He and his "story" were all over social media (with him doing the posting) before he appeared on the show. At the time, IMO he looked like the average troll.

Watching Denver local ABC (channel 7) news and they just said cameras aren't going to be allowed in the Watts hearing tomorrow. According to ABC, the prosecution was OK w/having it televised but the defense objected, saying it would compromise CW's chance for a fair trial.

Channel 7 also noted the trial is being moved up from 11/19, sooner than expected but no one will give them a reason why.

As for the bolded above, it looks like the defense is not expecting to take a plea deal tomorrow.

  • #495
My brain hurts.

DA has asked that autopsy be sealed to preserve interests of a fair trial. Defense doesn't care if autopsy is sealed.

But ............

Defense doesn't want tomorrow's hearing to have expanded media coverage (TV, audio or still photos) in order to preserve interests of a fair trial, but DA doesn't care if there's expanded media coverage.

Is it odd DA and Defense want to guard different things, or is this typical? Either way, why the diff?

What other talk shows was he on? I only know about the interview with Banfield. Regardless, if he was on multiple shows, or tweeting about it, or whatever, it seems LE and the Banfield show confirmed the texts between he and CW. It just seems so odd to me that people can post comments on here last night speculating about 🤬🤬🤬🤬, child 🤬🤬🤬🤬, sexually assaulting his girls, etc but can’t or won’t believe a man that says he had an affair with CW and apparently has text threads to prove it. IMO

Before Banfield, he went on Reddit, and twitter, and posted some of his texts that he said were between him and Chris. There is no way to really verify them, from just looking at them, online. So people were saying he was phony. People said it was a hoax. Partly because he was also talking up his business enterprises, as a stylist and make up artist, etc. So it seemed like he was exploiting the situation and could be fake.

When he appeared on Banfield, I thought she had been scammed by him. On his first appearance, Banfield said prod users could not verify him. ? A day or 2 later, they said they did verify the texts. I was still a bit weirded out by him, that he was posting all the texts and sharing all the details, literally days after the murders.

here is an article that originally said producers could not verify him. That is when I first decided he was a troll.....

"A man claiming to be murder accused Chris Watts' lover called up a livr news show in the US and alleged they had an affair after meeting on a gay dating app.

Watts, 33, could get the death penalty if he's convicted of killing his wife Shanann, 34, and girls Bella, four, and Celeste, three.

The man, who did not give his name, called Crime & Justice on HLN and told host Ashleigh Banfield that he and Chris had an "instant" connection as soon as they met.

However, Ms Banfield admitted Crime & Justice could not independently verify his story."

Man claims he 'dated Chris Watts after meeting him on gay dating app'

My initial reaction was “no way is this guy legit.”

But People Magazine said that the information he gave jibed with their reporting, and that he knew things that he generally wouldn’t have known unless he was telling the truth.

I’m still unsure though.

Strangling is such a brutal way to kill your tiny daughters. It doesn't make sense for her to be so brutal towards them. Her anger was towards her husband, not them.

I just cannot see her doing such a rash, brutal violent action, after only 15 minutes of him having 'an emotional conversation.' Maybe if he was actually loading up his truck and moving in with his girlfriend that night, I could consider her being frantic.

But after hearing about the AP, when she already suspected as much, what would make her carry out such brutal killings?

HE WAS THE ONE WITH THE MOTIVE TO GET RID OF THE 4 FAMILY MEMBERS. Not her.

I could buy it more if she'd attacked him and tried to hurt him, but I don't buy that she attacked the kids. And you're right, he's the one with motive.
