not in that order! More like there seems to be a notion that he confessed only because they had him. I think he wanted the kids removed and that was the reason for the confession.

That is what I mean by they (LE) had nothing to charge him with until he did his formal confession.
They did have him, the drone had located the sheet and her grave prior to his confession.

He waived time. He also waived the prelim but he can ask for that again later.
Just out of curiosity, do you find it strange a "big name" attorney hasn't become attached to this case?

All the legal documents, proceedings and hearings are important. That's usually what I rely on to base my thoughts and opinions on.

Agreed - but for technical reasons that statement is the foundation of the entire defence case.

Prosecutors will have 63 days after Watts' arraignment to decide if they will seek the death penalty in the case. If they do not, Watts would face mandatory life in prison without the possibility of parole if he is convicted on any of the murder charges.

Chris Watts murder case: Everything we know so far about the deaths of his wife, daughters

SBM. Thank you for this, I knew I had a specific set of days stuck in my head around the 60 day mark but couldn't remember exactly what it was for.

I did the same thing earlier today. LOL

I am not sure why the statement keeps being made, that' it doesn't prove or disprove anything. '

Her face turning blue is an important fact. It is very relevant info. Why is it being shrugged off?

yes.

If that statement is proven to be unreliable, the only known evidence that can establish his version goes out the window.

Then he would have to testify, or be reduced to throwing weak sauce at the walls.

Also, in reference to your remark that he was concerned about getting to work on time, the tanks were his “work site”. He did not have to report to anyone or clock in, he worked independently maintaining the tanks. He most likely was at those tanks all morning.

Thank you! Do you have any speculation about when you'd expect an arraignment, ie this year or after the start of next? Will the status conference be likely to determine that?

Yes. That typically what they're for. Setting schedules.

I'm surprised some don't see the difference in a husband/wife confessing to killing their spouse but not confessing to killing their children. I can think of several reasons for him to only confessing to killing his wife. Hoping for lesser charges, not wanting his family, SW family and friends to think he murdered his own children, not wanting the world to think he murdered his own children, not to mention other people in prison don't take kindly to child murderers. A parent killing their own child is always looked at worse than a spouse killing a spouse and rightly so. Any mother or father who can murder their own child is a monster.
Imo, some believe his actions were honourable, one can't really argue with that, I'm not into vigilante justice.

I'm sure his family has been talking with various private defense counsel. I would bet money.

Agreed

But to my mind it looks like a lost cause.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. We don't know what the foundation for the entire case will be for the defense. They will have a lot more knowledge and evidence than they did.

His confession was obviously stupid - likely the police wore him down.

Thank you so much for checking the docket for us while you're in the middle of trial!

So no filming of the proceedings? Is that what expanded media coverage means?

If there was a plea deal about to be divulged at a status conference the judge would know and I think wouldn't treat it as less important than an advisement or arraignment. Don't you think?

IMO what he said doesn't prove or disprove anything. Maybe he saw something on the monitor - we don't know. Either way he was either lying or that was his interpretation on what he saw or thought he saw. It doesn't prove or disprove who's responsible.

So he didn't spend his work days with his lover?

Man who claims affair with accused family killer Chris Watts says Colorado dad gave him money, claimed pregnant wife Shanann Watts was ‘abusive’: EXCLUSIVE
But Bolte did say that Chris had given him some money while they were together. He said that Chris gave him cash on a few occasions when he was in need of financial help, and that Chris offered the money while also stating that he was struggling financially himself. Bolte said that in addition to the cash gifts, which he believes totaled around $1,000, Chris Watts bought him expensive skin care products at Sephora. Bolte said Watts paid in cash.

Looking at the detail here, including screenshots of text messages - this looks pretty devastating for the defence

Including the original in the quote train because wow. Wow. Devastating, indeed.

"Bolte said when he was recently questioned by FBI agents they accused him of “leaving something out,” which he insists he is not. He also said that lawyers for both the prosecution and the defense had attempted to track him down at his parents’ home in Wyoming.

The Fort Collins man, who works in healthcare, said that law enforcement agents initially reached out to him and that he cooperated with questioning. He said he wasn’t sure how investigators learned of the relationship."

I have been skimming over the TB stuff (assuming we can use his name as he's repeatedly been in MSM as an alleged AP) very lightly as I've taken it with a grain of salt, so I know next to nothing about the man. Therefore I haven't seen much of the detail in this particular article and purposely didn't watch the AB ep but read the recaps.

If much of this is true, it adds to the thoughts that there must be a landslide of digital evidence, and a lot of it won't bode well for CW.

"During that time, Chris Watts reportedly claimed to Bolte that his wife Shanann, who was 15 weeks pregnant at the time of her murder last month, had been verbally and emotionally abusive.

Chris Watts allegedly told Bolte that Shanann “treated him like he was stupid” and made him feel inadequate in front of his children. After Bolte discovered Chris had been dishonest about his family circumstances, he said that Chris “played the victim” and continued to reach out to him, insisting that he was in a bad situation with no idea how to get out."

It is very much worth the read with many details. I still don't know if I give him any credibility at all. But, at least it's something to discuss other than what we've been going rounds about. JMO.

Yes - maybe this will just be a short procedural hearing after all

His confession was obviously stupid - likely the police wore him down.
He was backed into a corner, especially when police revealed aerial photos of the dumpsite.

He had three choices at this point:

Say nothing.

Tell the truth.

Lie, and attempt to spin the best possible scenario he could come up with.

He chose the third option, and was quickly charged with the murders of his family.

He apparently thought LE was stupid. He’s fooling nobody though.
