I think CW was getting legal advice passed down to him that day. How to avoid murder 1. His father was probably stunned and out of it that day, anyway. And later realized CW lied, IMO.

I agree.
When CW wanted to speak to his father, the second time, 'to tell the truth'. I think this was a means to try to lessen his charges.
What could he come up with?
Perhaps there was some 'legal knowledge' thrown in.
Then, SW was guilty of murdering the girls.:(:(:(
MOO.

In Colorado, any act of violence against a current or former partner, including murder, is considered domestic violence. (And other things like stalking and harassment are also included.)
thanks. So it could have been while she slept, for instance.

Wow! With how aggressive Chris's defense attorneys were being in every filing I really did not see this coming. I'm glad Shanann's family will be spared a trial. I hope Chris is forced to make a public accounting of what happened and he does so truthfully.

HLN better give Ashleigh Banfield her show back, and have her on the air within the next half hour!

Poor guy. They were aware of every disgusting, nasty, reckless, irresponsible and cruel allegation against Shanann. Shame on every one who was a part of that.
And a special thank you to you and MrsPratcher, both of whom tirelessly worked on all these threads to fight back against victim bashing, point out the overwhelming evidence of CW's total guilt, and explain family annihilators to us all. You are rockstars!

I know. Now she's my best friend, I miss her so much.

It already was to me.
It was to me too, but he did have followers. I'm thinking something on the girls, internet research, something made evidence crystal clear that he didn't feel he stood a chance with a jury. I also think he didn't want everything about him exposed at trial.

And the public wasn't permitted to witness that moment? Why?

You know what, it just occurred to me that maybe that limitation was requested by the defense as part of the deal. It sounds exactly like what CW would care about: his ego. Just like how he wouldn't tell the police anything until he was allowed to talk to his dad.

I'm still stunned. (Sorry I'm late to the party.)

I am curious as to how some here just seemed to know there would be a plea deal today, but thought it would show SW's culpability. Did CW's entire family know the exact specifics of the plea reached? It seems like there was a leak, but it was incomplete IMO.

LOL! Doubtful they would bring her back for this, but you made me laugh. :p

Murder of an intimate partner is domestic violence per the code. He pled guilty to premeditated murder. Not a rage killing.
Hmmm. I wonder if that is one of the things he wanted to change before pleading, ie to rage killing.

100%. It makes me so angry.

I hopped over to FB, they are still claiming he is innocent and defending him.

Of course. Those loons are going to come up with anything, saying CW pled to protect SW or he pled to spare her family, or whatever. They will also be sending him mail and wanting to be with him. Reality does not mean anything to the delusional.

OMG OMG OMG

This was the hardest thread I've ever been involved in. Shanann Watts and her beautiful children were innocent victims. Shanann Watts was a mother, a daughter, a sister, a friend. She wasn't perfect as none of us are. Watching her being torn to shreds was utterly heartbreaking and I didn't even know her - I can't even fathom how hard this was for her friends and family.

Shanann Watts did nothing wrong. She was MURDERED.

Chris Watts is a MURDERER.
Particularly noxious were the people here who slandered her, under the cover of trying to understand ' both sides' or the 'dynamics' of their relationship, as if they could imply some sinister fault she had, that would have mitigated CW's awful crimes. I will never forget them. God bless her family and God damn Christopher Watts.

Short break, sorry if I repeat. This plea deal proves several things to me;

The autopsy results are horrendous and proves he killed them all.

There is a tremendous amount of evidence that proves, unequivocally, that he killed them all!

That CW is a coward and could not face going to trial.

I do wonder if his family influenced him?

Now, no more cell phones, no more spiffy shirts, no more grilling, and no more freedom. He probably will have a new AP, named Bubba, Knuckles, maybe Jimbo who will tell him what to do!

From an ethics standpoint, was it right for the judge, if he knew of the plea deal being reached and was to be presented today, to shut out media for the "status" conference? Or do judges have that leeway in CO?

I do hope that those who ruthlessly attacked Shannan Watts and blamed her for what Chris’s Watts did to her and blamed her for the murder of her children will now apologize to her.
