It certainly was. It was something I hoped for all along, but never expected to happen.

Glad to be wrong.
Certainly never this fast! I credit a terrific investigative effort and prosecutors who refused to take the easy way out. I think he made it clear to defense attorneys early on that he would make sure CW paid. That combined w/physical evidence and CW's idiotic behavior after the fact left little wiggle room for the defense.

Very honest post! But I think that these thoughts are are helpful to those who need to simply carry on. When I was 12 years old my pup got run over by a car while my brother was taking him outside for a walk. It happend near our home and I could hear him bark and than suddenly I heard nothing anymore and a voice deep inside me "told" me not to look out of the window. I didn't. A few minutes later my brother rushed back in our house, holding my tiny dog (he was still very young) in his arms, who seemed to be "sleeping" but was slightly bleeding out of his snout, told me he got hit by a car. Even they drove instantly to the vet I felt it was over.
The next days/weeks/months I could only survive due to the "imagination" that my dog was save somehow up there in "heaven" and that we will meet again someday.

Years later my father died after he was diagnosed with lung cancer. It was the toughest time of my life. Once again that thought of him being somewhere up in heaven and the hope that I could see him again just helped me to carry on and still does. Even if this all are just fantasies and those thoughts should never "mask" crimes like this (I hope that everyone is still aware that four beautiful lifes were taken!) some people just might find comfort in it.
Beautifully expressed. Thank you.

The plea agreement stipulates that Christopher Watts serve consecutive life sentences for the three murders. He pleaded guilty to five counts of first-degree murder, one count of unlawful termination of a pregnancy and three counts of tampering with a deceased human body. He will be sentenced Nov. 19.

The Weld County judge read each of the charges to Watts in court Tuesday, noting the full name of Shanann and the girls, Bella and Celeste, in each of the murder charges. Shanann also was pregnant with a baby boy that she had planned to name Nico Lee.

Exactly. From the law enforcement effort to the district attorney, just a brilliant job all around.

This could have dragged out for a couple of years, and instead it is over, just like that.

This guy never seemed to be the type to accept any sort of plea, and the fact that he copped to everything, is a testament to the hard work of everyone involved.

That DA is nails.

I hope that I do not get banned for this.
I want to believe that Shannon and her babies are in a better place.
But, I just do not.
Shannon, her daughters and Nico are all dead.
Their potential happy lives killed in one night of a murdering frenzy.
By their beloved Husband and Father.
I wish that I believe that Shannon and here children are happily floating around in heaven.
But, I do not.
I think that their lives were taken by Chris and that they are dead.
Period. Snuffed out.

I hear you. Just remember that energy is never truly destroyed, it morphs. And certainly we are all connected through energy in our (long or short) time inhabiting our human forms. If you can take what has happened here and use it in any way possible to a beneficial and positive effect, as a result you keep some part of them alive.

I "like"ed your post and the one below yours as well. I'm somewhere in the middle.

He deserves a life sentence for each and every act,” Weld County District lawyer Michael Rourke said.
“The spotlight that he tried to shine on Shanann — falsely, incorrectly and frankly a flat-out lie — has been corrected.
“The spotlight shines directly where it belongs: On him.”
Watts, a former oil and gas worker, could be heard sniffing after each time he said “guilty.” Shanann’s parents, Frank Rzucek and Sandra Onorati Rzucek, and her brother, Frankie Rzucek, watched from the front row of a full courtroom.

How ‘killer’ dad will avoid death row

I can. He’s probably already gotten marriage proposals and love letters like Scott Peterson, Menedez Brothers, Ted Bundy, etc. he will probably get himself an inmate boyfriend like Aaron Hernandez. SW, Unborn baby boy, and girls all got death but CW got life spared. No way will he kill himself. He will be able to create a new prison life without his family he disposed of like trash. He got a good deal. He makes me puke. If there was hard evidence he couldn’t refute then seems like he would have been convicted to DP. ONLY good thing accepting plea deal no dragging family through the trial.
It always slays me when a murderer is facing death himself, suddenly he’s afraid to die. It was okay for him to scare, torture, murder and hide his dead family, and be able to live with it, but when it comes to his own sorry @** facing the same fear, agony, desperation and death like he bestowed upon them, THAT he can’t take. Coward. Wuss. Despicable low life. I hope he rots in that cell for 75 years and then burns in Hell for eternity.

What a grandiose surprise when I opened up this thread!

Chris Watts pleaded guilty to killing his family after trying to run Shananns name through the mud.

Chris finally took blame for something he did! By doing this, he saved Shanann’s parents and his parents from the torture of a trial and learning what a sly, lying beast he is..

I said right from the beginning that there is nothing special about Chris Watts. He’s just another man who murdered his family. He wasn’t the first and he won’t be the last. Humans are a predictable bunch. We have patterns of behavior. We don’t do “firsts”. His insane, ridiculous scenario would have been a first.

As if, AS IF, you wouldn’t get medical help for your dying children if you were an innocent and loving father. Scream, yell, ring 911, bash on the neighbors door. SOMETHING.

It really baffled me that anyone was willing to give this guy any credence, like something new and amazing had happened.

He’s not special. He never has been. He’s just a textbook murdering family annihilator, like all the rest.

BBM. We can only guess at how he would have defended this choice. I am so relieved that we won't ever have to hear it.

And he has already been updated as a family annihilator on the internet.

He will go down in history just like Charles Manson was for what he did, and now Chris Watts will be known as another family Annihilator... for the textbooks .

ETA.. I am empathetic for his family, because they are going to be highly researched imho.

I agree with you on everything but the reason he took the plea.

I think he came to the realization that he had no chance of prevailing in court, and didn’t want to risk the death penalty.

I think his motivations were entirely selfish ones. His actions on the night of the murders, and the disposal of his children, don’t jibe with a guy who has a conscience, and cares at all about dragging the families through the pain of a trial.

I think that on sentencing day, we will finally learn some crucial details.

Damning ones.
me too. I respectfully disagree with all my ws friends who think he did this from respect for family, any type of altruism at all. He was terrified that a lot of tawdry carp was going to get out.

This early really was the shocker. I always thought he would, if he thought they were going for the death penalty. I always felt that they had the evidence for a death penalty case. So I'm shocked he did it before the decision was made. Shocked but glad.

But, according to the same source, Chris’ demeanor changed dramatically in previous weeks. “He’s been more active,” the source says. “He doesn’t sleep all day away. He’s actively taking part in his own defense. He reads a lot, and has contact with his attorneys.”

“He’s actually very energized now,” the source continues. “He’s willing to confront reality now and to decide what his best move is. … He’s able to look at things logically now and make the right decisions for himself. He’s turned a corner.”

“Chris had to come to terms with reality,” the sour explains of his decision to plead. “He didn’t like it at all, but he’s smart enough to know that his back was against the wall, and the best thing for him to do was to plead guilty.”

“There evidence against him was overwhelming,” the source says. “There was physical evidence and his own words that would convict him. His story didn’t work.”

Yep, and I think most of us here felt the same way about his guilt from the very start. He is a very stupid man.

I wouldn't even call him a man. Maybe his body is that of a man, but he's really just a soulless empty puppet. I hope that vest was put on tighter than tight. On purpose.

Thank you for all the links people have posted. Just watched the press conference. "Sick and saddened" sums it up.

It was obvious that this monster brutally murdered Shannan, Bella, CeCe, and unborn Nico. IMO

And yet Shannan was dragged through the mud by some over and over again. Every video scrutinized for evil intent, every illness was "faked", she was diagnosed with almost every mental illness imaginable by armchair psychiatrists or people just amusing themselves. And for me, it was disgusting to see.

And here we have it. He was exactly what he presented to be. A self serving, lying, cheating, smug, grinning, murderer who strangled the life out of his wife and children one by one and then dumped them in oil and dirt. Evil does exist in this world. IMO

Thank God Shannan, Bella, CeCe, and unborn Nico have justice. What a sad and disgustingly tragic story.

Shine like loving wife, mama, daughter, sister, and friend Shanann did. You'll feel better about yourself.

I don't think he is stupid, I actually think his plan could have worked but things didn't go as he planned. His interview gave him away for sure. As soon as I saw his interview, I knew he had killed them.

i think mr. DA is quite happy about now, not having to receive any gruff from either side about going for the dp, or not. Which could take a generation to resolve. He comes out looking good.

Today Chris Watts stood before the world and showed his true face (metaphorically), it is a very selfish, very evil, ugly face. When he accepted the plea deal and pled guilty to all nine charges he also pled guilty. (metaphorically) to murdering SW a second time with his foul lies! We now see him, completely, for who he is and probably always has been. Death would have been merciful for him, quick and easy, and while I don't believe he'll ever experience remorse, I do believe that regret will eat at him like a bad and relentless infection slowly consuming him. Long years could be a lifetime of agony for him! He's also a coward and prison will give him a lifetime of fears!

I'll think of Shanann, Bella, Cece, and Nico as Angel's and be glad they were here, if only for a short time. They touched many with their lives and light.
