I give a lot of credit to Shanann's friend who came by because she foiled the plot. She screwed up the entire plan leaving him no time to carry out a better plan. Had she not been such a caring friend this would have been dragged out a lot longer and who knows if he would have ever been arrested

This needs to be quoted many, many times.

I’m not at peace with any part of this.

Christopher Watts committed the most heinous act a father can commit against his girls. Shannan regardless of her personality trusted the man.

He very well should have gotten death. It will cost money to keep him breathing, eating and every need will be met for 40+ years.

A plea was far to good for him.
The only consolation is Shanann's family (or at least her Mom) did not want the death penalty. I thought it was to avoid a trial and dragging SW through the mud even more. I'm sure that's part of it but she's made it clear to family, friends and the DA she didn't want a 5th life to be taken. Doubt I would feel the same way, but think it's only fair that family made the call.

I’m not sure if I want to know anymore! It’s got to be bad. IMO

I do. Because that slimeball tried to pin it all on Shanann, who clearly loved not only her girls and her unborn son, but CW's sorry behind.

I want to see the autopsy reports, the interview transcripts, read every detail of the court proceedings and deals. Full disclosure. Every single solitary thing that has been kept behind closed doors in case of a trial, every damning piece of evidence, every single text, every affair and lie, every single bit of premeditation they found.

Every bit of shielding and protecting right down to this "status conference" on election day with zero photos or videos allowed while he stood in front of his own family for once and had to admit what he did.

And I want him to have to make a detailed statement of guilt at sentencing. An allocution, is that what it's called?

I want him to have to stand there in front of the entire world, the media, his family, her family, every single doubter and have it live streamed to the world while he admits his guilt and states exactly what he did to each member of his trusting family so that there is absolutely zero doubt before this fades away that he is a liar, a cheater, a coward, and a murderer.

Complete class act. All of her family.

He pled guilty to murder with deliberation for all three. I think he made sure to say that with SW because the baby killer had tried to pretend it was a spontaneous rage killing after he caught her strangling the girls.
I agree, and bless the DA for doing that! Those who have all the evidence wanted to make it crystal clear to those who have vilified Shanann that the evidence shows CW and CW ALONE was the cold-blooded, premeditated annihilator of his wife, two daughters, and unborn child.

There are never any winners - all we can ever do is hope for justice. If Shanann's family approves of this result, I'm at peace with it. MOO
So true, there are no winners but only justice.

I can't speak for anyone else, but my heart truly aches today for the first time for Shanann and her girls. I recently followed another trial where the gruesome details of how each member died was made public early, I could imagine what they went through in their last moments, Rudi especially died a slow, painful death. I kept those thoughts from my mind while participating in this thread.

Today, we know what we believed to be true all along, happened. CW took their lives in the most horrific way! Imo, CW displayed the signs of relief in his porch interviews. That's how I will always remember him! No amount of tears will sway me to think he's remorseful, he is a monster, we can shout it from the rooftops now!

I would do the same thing. I sure don’t want them to go through years of hearings to save his pathetic life. Ugh

Colorado man pleads guilty to killing pregnant wife, kids
By KATHLEEN FOODY
Christopher Watts entered his plea Tuesday during a court hearing, replying “guilty” nine times in response to Judge Marcelo Kopcow’s reading of each charge against him in the deaths of Shanann Watts, 34, and their children, Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3.

Watts’ voice was shaking, and he could occasionally be heard sniffing after each time he said “guilty.” Her parents, Frank Rzucek and Sandra Onorati Rzucek, and her brother, Frankie Rzucek, watched from a front row of the packed courtroom.

“He deserves a life sentence for each and every act,” Weld County District Attorney Michael Rourke said.

That DA is awesome.

Plus, though death row is a special hell on earth in and of itself, I seriously doubt he will ever be in general population or released from some sort of protective custody or segregated unit with locked down cell time most of his days.

Baby killers aren't liked in prison. At all.

He's forever doomed to be at the bottom of the totem in prison, and if he comes in contact with other prisoners, he will be treated accordingly. JMO.

If all parties including the Judge knew this was coming, why did they still exclude visual media coverage by calling it a status conference? Who were they trying to appease?
Don't know if it's true but I've heard through local grapevine CW's family asked that media not be present.

And the DA's office did a stellar job. Zero leaks on their end that this was coming. Any leaks came from CW's side...and were incomplete. IMO someone led some people to believe there would be a plea today that partially exonerated CW. Thank goodness they were misinformed, because I was getting nervous that justice might not be done.

I will Never forget Shanann or the girls. What can we do to help the families.

I agree even if convicted to death like here in CA death row is much tougher and less privileged then LWOP.

Yes. I just got off the phone with her. But not for her, today wouldn't have happened. At least not for a long, long time. And she still doesn't think she did anything other than be a good friend.
On behalf of all the people world wide seeking justice for Shan'ann & her children, please pass on our gratitude to NUA for her loyalty (that came at a high price). Thank you @Colorado303 for being our liason both here and outside this forum. You are very much appreciated. #SHINE LIKE SHAN'ANN.

I think it's interesting that when killers give these bizarre confessions many people think it means the crime was the work of a criminal mastermind fooling LE and intentionally confessing to things that would refute elements of a crime.

Really, they end up locking themselves into a false story before any evidence is reviewed and they put themselves in a much worse position than if they did not say anything at all.

If you lie in your confession, you're a liar throughout trial. You no longer get to effectively challenge the state's evidence - you've already proven to be a liar. The jury won't trust you, even if the state's case is weak.

I think that's what happened here, and what will end up being shown to have happened in Mollie's case too. These aren't criminal masterminds, they're weak little men who fall apart during LE questioning. I hope we don't glorify and give them any more credit than they deserve - which is none.

Yeah. I was really nervous that the plea would include lesser charges.

The death penalty really doesn’t provide leverage in Colorado, so I wondered why he would plead guilty to what he was initially charged with.

He knows something that we don’t.

I think it is really bad. The autopsy reports have never been released, and part of the reason behind that might have had to do with respecting SW's feelings. JMO
