Didn't the DA state at the presser that he would be in isolation in regular prison or on death row?
I thought he said that would be decided by the prison administration.

He will have to say he pleads guilty and I can’t wait to hear him say it. Wife killer. Baby killer. Bella, Cece, and Nico deserved better.
He got practice saying it today...

The job of a good and ethical defense attorney is to review the evidence and advise your client on what is best for him or her under the law that will control at trial. Sometimes you have to give your client bad news and tell them it appears that the facts are against them, the law is against them, and the state is not overreaching or violating his or her rights.

I think Chris had very good lawyers. I think they fought tooth-and-nail against the state when they thought the state was overreaching. They fought for the defendant's right to review the evidence against him.

But at the end of the day they aren't going to lead their client into a trial they do not think he can win. JMO but I think the evidence probably speaks for itself and it was not going to corroborate his story. I think some defense lawyers fall into the trap of offering their clients false hope in a bid for fame and billable hours. I'm glad that doesn't seem to have happened here.

Excellent post. Yup. They were good attorneys all around and proved it today.

Interesting. He took a plea deal, and admitted to killing all three.

I guess that the threat of the death penalty does make a difference. I am glad that he took the plea, and SW's family signed off on the offer, prior to the hearing. I am surprised he didn't keep to his lie, but glad someone made him realize the futility of a trial.

I have a feeling CW is not going to be able to cope with LWOP.
I think he may take himself out.
MOO

Yes. It may even be his plan.

It is interesting that “after deliberation” was in Shanann’s charge but not the girls’ charges. I theorised a while ago that one or both of the girls may have witnessed Shanann’s murder and therefore it also became necessary to kill them.

On the flip side, I think someone said the DA does still not know when the girls were killed. And also, his story of Shanann would never have rung true - she’d never have left the girls.

My hope is that Shanann never knew her daughters were killed, and neither of those girls witnessed anything either. Their last moments would have been distressing enough.

Chris’ punishment should include being forced to watch his daughter singing “my daddy is my hero” over and over. Sick, sick 🤬🤬🤬.

It is in three charges for SW and both girls.

They were excellent! I took great joy in reading their motions and responses.

Unless he has decided he doesn't want to put the families through trial and he's decided to self-terminate.

A question for Gitana. If the plea arrangement, which was sought by the defense, had not been agreed upon, how do the defense then reverse themselves and say OK we deny what we just said about him being guilty, now we are going back to preparing for a trial ?

Naw. He’s too selfish for that. Whatever his reasoning, is was about one thing, Chris Watts.

I think it's interesting that when killers give these bizarre confessions many people think it means the crime was the work of a criminal mastermind fooling LE and intentionally confessing to things that would refute elements of a crime.

Really, they end up locking themselves into a false story before any evidence is reviewed and they put themselves in a much worse position than if they did not say anything at all.

If you lie in your confession, you're a liar throughout trial. You no longer get to effectively challenge the state's evidence - you've already proven to be a liar. The jury won't trust you, even if the state's case is weak.

I think that's what happened here, and what will end up being shown to have happened in Mollie's case too. These aren't criminal masterminds, they're weak little men who fall apart during LE questioning. I hope we don't glorify and give them any more credit than they deserve - which is none.

Bam. Mic drop.

I do. Because that slimeball tried to pin it all on Shanann, who clearly loved not only her girls and her unborn son, but CW's sorry behind.

I want to see the autopsy reports, the interview transcripts, read every detail of the court proceedings and deals. Full disclosure. Every single solitary thing that has been kept behind closed doors in case of a trial, every damning piece of evidence, every single text, every affair and lie, every single bit of premeditation they found.

Every bit of shielding and protecting right down to this "status conference" on election day with zero photos or videos allowed while he stood in front of his own family for once and had to admit what he did.

And I want him to have to make a detailed statement of guilt at sentencing. An allocution, is that what it's called?

I want him to have to stand there in front of the entire world, the media, his family, her family, every single doubter and have it live streamed to the world while he admits his guilt and states exactly what he did to each member of his trusting family so that there is absolutely zero doubt before this fades away that he is a liar, a cheater, a coward, and a murderer.
I completely agree with all of this, except the allocution. As the DA said if CW speaks there's no reason to believe it's the truth. And personally I've had enough of his "poor misunderstood me" to last a lifetime. I very much want to know what he was thinking, did, how and why. But sadly whatever we learn will have to come from someplace other than the mouth of human pond scum.

That’s the beauty of having a DA like this. The evidence will tell us what we need to know, and I think he’s more than willing to pass it along.

We knew that CW was never going to tell us the truth. He proved that from day 1.

And the DA's office did a stellar job. Zero leaks on their end that this was coming. Any leaks came from CW's side...and were incomplete. IMO someone led some people to believe there would be a plea today that partially exonerated CW. Thank goodness they were misinformed, because I was getting nervous that justice might not be done.

I'm betting that there was a leak that a plea was forthcoming but his side couldn't reveal the details. Those privy to such info would likely be those who were wedded to the belief that Shanann was a terrible person who likely killed her kids. Thus, the assumption that it would be a partial exoneration.

Focus not on the guilty; we will not say his name, show his face, nor give him notoriety. Instead, remember those lost and choose to never forget them. This should always be the real story.

Thanks NuttMegg. That was why I was confused.

Does anyone know if a transcript of the hearing will be released?
There was never any objection and/or denial for print media for today's status hearing so hope to see more reported by local news. If not, transcript by court reporter should be available for purchase.

That beautiful little CeCe, singing about her Daddy, "My Daddy is my hero.". CW would NEVER have been able to get that out of the trial. The trial would have been over after that video. Done.

I wonder if the deal includes keeping the autopsies results sealed. The information must be truly heinous.
