That's great. I hope in the future people may think more critically when giving the same weight to the lies of an accused triple murderer as they do to the public servants in law enforcement and the district attorney's office.

All people accused of a crime are entitled to a fair and impartial trial before their life or liberty is restrained by the state. The public is not required to abandon its critical thinking skills to support the accused and rip apart the victim.

Even at trial the jury is instructed to judge
Very nicely put.

I do. Because that slimeball tried to pin it all on Shanann, who clearly loved not only her girls and her unborn son, but CW's sorry behind.

I want to see the autopsy reports, the interview transcripts, read every detail of the court proceedings and deals. Full disclosure. Every single solitary thing that has been kept behind closed doors in case of a trial, every damning piece of evidence, every single text, every affair and lie, every single bit of premeditation they found.

Every bit of shielding and protecting right down to this "status conference" on election day with zero photos or videos allowed while he stood in front of his own family for once and had to admit what he did.

And I want him to have to make a detailed statement of guilt at sentencing. An allocution, is that what it's called?

I want him to have to stand there in front of the entire world, the media, his family, her family, every single doubter and have it live streamed to the world while he admits his guilt and states exactly what he did to each member of his trusting family so that there is absolutely zero doubt before this fades away that he is a liar, a cheater, a coward, and a murderer.

I am in 100% agreement with this.

Yes. I just got off the phone with her. But not for her, today wouldn't have happened. At least not for a long, long time. And she still doesn't think she did anything other than be a good friend.
She is the BEST friend anyone can have in my opinion! To know that something was wrong, to follow her gut instinct no matter what, she is the reason this has gone the way it has! I pray for her and SW's family for peace and healing. I pray that they are comforted by the beautiful memories they have. I have been crying since I heard the news. Just a big relief that he finally admitted what he did and that Shanann's family won't have to be drug through the mud anymore. It has been so horrible to hear the accusations and insinuations against Shanann. I feel like they were a part of my family now, I haven't been able to stop thinking of them and praying for justice since the first day.

I guess I got confused by the qualifier that dropping the death penalty for life "works too". Not sure what you meant there!
Well, I thought there would be a plea today - and clearly there had to be SOME kind of incentive for him to take a plea this early in the process - whether it’s dropping some of the charges or removing the DP as an option - an incentive nonetheless.

I NEVER suggested that any part of the plea deal would put any blame on SW - and I never thought it would.

<modsnip - quoted post removed>

There is obviously like minded people for them to hang out with elsewhere, sadly. I think some people just really can not accept that their cognitive bias was wrong and will find various justification not to trust the guilty pleas.

I don’t think we will see them back here. @Gitana said it well - these are the people who insisted they were on the fence but only argued one angle. There were other, more reasonable people who said they were waiting for more info who I felt were able to discuss both sides and I appreciated that - and the fact that I’ve seen at least one say they now fully accept the outcome. I don’t want to be rude to others, but that shows a lot more intelligence and reason imo.

Focus not on the guilty; we will not say his name, show his face, nor give him notoriety. Instead, remember those lost and choose to never forget them. This should always be the real story.

This is so sad to see.
The happiness and love on all three faces.
Their lives terminated by evil.

Who is Nickole Atkinson? I'm just wondering why they tweeted that she wasn't in the courtroom.
She was the friend with SW on the Arizona trip and the one who alerted police that SW was not answering phone and asked for a welfare check

She’s Shanann’s friend who called the police for a welfare check the day they all went missing. Sometimes referrred to as NUA on here.

Nicole is NUA, Shanann's friend who dropped her off home, and the one who raised the alarm, she spoke to CW via the door/camera/phone/intercom (no idea what it's called! :P)

My law partner felt it had to do with statements to physicians or psychs that could go toward competency or insanity (diminished responsibility).

The state mentioned the DA initially came at them with a different plea. That was rejected. Perhaps they offered guilty but with a mitigator based on diminished responsibility? So less than LWOP?
Ah, so to back up the deal they had to file the psych report or consultation maybe.

She's been referred to as "NUA" here. She's the friend of SW who went to her house to check on her, called CW and then called LE. Many people, myself included believe that her actions that day prevented CW from being able to possibly "fix" things at the house and the work site because she very quickly involved LE.

Sorry gitana1. His first conversation with his dad before he confessed. Would that have been recorded, because I think you replied to the other poster it may be released in due course.

The autopsy reports came back about three weeks ago, and they reveal more than we know . . . DA Rourke said the plea negotiations began about three weeks ago. Now it makes sense to me why the defense attorneys said they didn’t care whether the reports were sealed or not. They knew they didn’t have a case and started working on a plea. I was thinking that a plea might be submitted at the Status Hearing.

It provides some relief to all of us who knew she could not have possibly hurt her beloved girls.

Hoping it helps the healing process for everyone, especially Shanann’s family.
Yes, it sounded at that point that they just threw up their hands and said ' this is unwinnable now' .

I think she was referring to the convo that cw had with his dad in the police station. WOuld it have been in private and not recorded. Or would it have been recorded because he stated he would confess after he talked to his dad

Also explains why the visitor log was protected too. They didn't want anyone seeing which consultant went in. Possibly.
