That’s the beauty of having a DA like this. The evidence will tell us what we need to know, and I think he’s more than willing to pass it along.

We knew that CW was never going to tell us the truth. He proved that from day 1.
I live here and I have to share that I feel beyond lucky to live in a town where law enforcement conducted themselves and this investigation exactly as they should have. I feel so blessed to know that there are good people helping to put people like CW away for good! They are owed a huge gratitude and I am deeply grateful! This isn't always the case as being a home rule town, they don't have to invite the CBI and FBI into a case from my understanding. Frederick law enforcement immediately asked for help and didn't worry about making names for themselves but rather getting justice for Shanann, Bella, Celeste and Nico!

I am also wondering about the possible hippa document they had- wasnt that supposed to be addressed today? Will we ever know what it was?
I would sure like to see the judge decide not to keep the request sealed. I don't know if it would serve any "public good" for it be released but my hunch is it would put CW in even worse light. He bore false witness to save his own behind, and apart from those granted by law IMO doesn't doesn't deserve any efforts to protect his reputation from himself. SW was an innocent victim and had no clue she or the girls were in danger. Maybe exposing everything publicly can help some other woman recognize danger and get out in time.

I think that will be released.
I think it will be released too. Nikolas Cruz's interrogation video was released. Hours of it. I am also in the camp that wants CW to have to SAY out loud what he did. I don't know if he has to do that at sentencing but I wish it was part of the plea deal.

Yeah, the only truth that CW has or will ever tell is that he murdered them all, and did so after deliberation. I agree, other information we will hopefully get to see will help with the most likely scenario.

JMO, but whatever CW didn't want his parents to know was going to come out in trial, and I think that was more frightful to him than facing a possible death sentence.

JMO.

Interesting perspective. And I am sick wondering what would have come out at the trial. Maybe something he wanted quiet for his inevitable incarceration. He could possibly be more heinous than I originally thought.

You are so right! Not one bit of posturing for fame or career success. No egos, just a bunch of people committed to getting justice for S and the girls. They put justice ahead of any personal interest and I couldn't be more impressed.

I am supremely anxious for Nov. 19 so that it can be accepted by the judge and set in stone. And also because I really do want to hear more from Rourke, and see the unsealed autopsy reports too. As far as hearing the truth from CW goes, I certainly will not count on that ever happening. Thus, the more evidence the DA gives us after the 19th, the better we can cultivate the most likely scenario of what really did happen.
I’m hoping he makes it until Nov. 19. You never know what he could be thinking.

BBM. His story was never going to work. He made it up on the spot when confronted with overwhelming evidence in the interrogation room. Thus the evidence was never going to support it.

LE had video evidence of SW entering the house at 1.48am, and no evidence of her ever leaving.

He was cooked from the start. All praise to NUA who prevented him from setting the scene of whatever he was planning to try and get away with these despicable crimes. She was key to justice for these victims.

I agree with all of the above. But I thought the story they were referring to, that didn't work, was his story that she killed the babies and he was just trying to stop her. JMO

People still saying CW is innocent
How?!?! How delusional can you be??? He has now plead guilty and will be spending the rest of your life in prison. I highly doubt an innocent

I totally agree!!!!! Im sure that it is like several people have said. Something about a psych eval that portrays him as being psychotic or the like. If it is a hippa document about him- i think it should be released but i know it has to go by what the law says.

And thank you so much for all of your input in this case! It has been a pleasure reading your responses. They have been so respectful. I only wish we could have met you under different circumstances.

It *was* a status hearing - originally scheduled for later in November.

They moved it up - presumably once they had agreed upon the plea - but it was still down as a status hearing, and that’s what the DA noticed it as when the papers were filed last week. It is *not* uncommon for Pleas to be covered during a status hearing.

Per Colorado law, extended media coverage can only be approved for certain types of proceedings and this was not one of them.
Amanda..... you have shed SO MUCH light on this case and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping us understand everything that was going on legally and what was probably going to happen today!

I have always felt that he sexually abused the children. JMOO.

They’re not “ignoring” the criminal code - but when parties enter into a plea bargain, they can agree to a wide variety of things - as long as both sides are in agreement.

That can include dropping some of the charges. There would be nothing preventing the DA from offering (in theory) one count for each person - dropping, for instance, the disposal charges.

I’m not at all suggesting that would have been done - OR that it would have been anything either side would have been interested in - just that I’ve seen that type of resolution before.

As I said before - I thought there would be a plea, but had no clue what it would involve. I was just trying to use common sense to think what type of scenario would be agreeable to both sides so early in the process, before all the cards are out on the table.

Unless you’re in the room (and have all the info), it’s impossible to know.
No, that's not what you said in your post. You specifically referred to this charge which is unique to Colorado as a "duplicate" murder charge (secondary to the girls), and why I asked the question! I guess it does not matter since none of the charges were dropped in the plea. However, I do believe your response as an experienced Colorado prosecutor/defense lawyer misleading here. MOO

This is just me thinking out loud- but if he was going to commit suicide- wouldn’t he have done it before pleading guilty so he could still be “remembered as only “committing” one muder vsa the 4 he pled guilty to today? Or could they still have tried the case and proven his guilt after his death?

(SBM)

JMO, but whatever CW didn't want his parents to know was going to come out in trial, and I think that was more frightful to him than facing a possible death sentence.

Yes, interesting. Sounds like a perfect setup for him to come back at some point and say he was badgered into agreeing to plead guilty.

Reading that article gave me the feeling that a combo of both of these is/was afoot. Purely speculation, but I think it's possible his family leaned on him to take the plea to spare the embarrassment of a trial - we haven't seen a single comment, photo, not even a name or detail about them.

I think he probably stayed with the victim mentality "I didn't kill the girls but have to plead because evil Shanann..." whatever, behind the scenes. In his own mind a large part of it was not only knowing he'd probably be believed about the girls by the ones who matter to him, but not wanting them to see and hear all of the sordid details that would be coming out, from affairs to autopsy photos, in a drawn out trial. Or be exposed to any media whatsoever in the process.

From what the DA stated, it seems that he doesn't feel CW will ever take accountability and tell the entire truth, so there doesn't seem to have been any major confession or remorse shown.

I look forward to the relief of the sentencing and evidence becoming public.

All JMO.

Yes. He actually gives me the creeps just looking at him. I believe that too. I think he had to save his own skin before the autopsy results came out.

I'm just so mad that the creep didn't do this from the start. He had to come up with that crap story and it feels like he killed poor Shanann twice.Ruined her reputation that she would kill the babies that she loved with her whole heart.
I still can't believe that people believed him especially if they watched his interview. That showed him as a liar. There were people that took the word of a killer, he had already admitted to killing two people, not only believed him but helped him destroy her reputation or allowed it to go on. Shame on them. It broke my heart for Shan'ann's family. They were victimized over and over again. And made what was already a horrible tragedy, that much more painful.
