You would not believe the reasons that his apologists have for dumping them in filthy crude oil.
He wanted to keep them warm!
He knew where they would be and could visit them any time.
Can you believe it?

One would be prompted to ask these apologists how would they like to have such a guy for a partner? No matter what happens, he'll always keep everyone warm.

I don't want the above to sound like irony, but the sheer lunacy of the statement made me almost speechless! Plus, technically speaking, the oil was supposed to be used, one day, right, had they not found the children?

I'm not convinced at all that he was that close with AP. He must have known her for years, I doubt he suddenly caught feelings that led him to annihilate his family.

I'm not convinced he was that close, or even in love with the AP, either. Hopefully we'll get some clarity when the DA advises of the partial motive.

JMO, until I learn more, I'm leaving the potential open that he was a Cluster B serial cheater, and SW discovered the serial cheating, and she was the one who wanted a separation. A scenario of being married to a Cluster B serial cheater would have involved lots of con artistry on his behalf in addition lots of covert abuse.

The most dangerous time for an abuse victim and her children is when the victim is leaving or attempting to leave her abuser. I believe she may been doing exactly this, and that never believed he would ever harm her little girls.

But he did, he killed them, and he also murdered Shanann and then he displayed extreme Cluster B behaviors as he tried to get himself out of his mess.

All JMO.

Thanks for the podcast. I was particularly interested in hearing @gitana1 speak - it was nice to put a voice to the poster that has provided so much insight into the legal matters. I am so unfamiliar with USA legal process, I would have really struggled without her input.

The "poor Chris" narrative bothers me endlessly, but I feel I just need to accept it and move on. Even if the alternate fantastical reality was true, he is no poor Chris. He forced his kids into oil tanks at the very, very minimum possibility of his involvement. Poor, poor Chris. *sarcasm*

I admit in the beginning, I struggled with aligning what I believed him to have done, with the images of him I saw. The family looks so normal. He is a normal looking guy, in his photos I thought he had kind looking eyes and a nice smile. I never, ever thought Shanann killed her girls, but it was hard to wrap my brain around it. But I did. I think the apologists are forever trapped in those early stages and because they can't get their heads around him annihilating his whole family, they need to find the alternate reality. But hey people! He dropped his kids in oil. Can't you at least manage to hate him for that?! smh

I couldn't sleep tonight and while my little son wrapped his tiny arms around me, these thoughts of Chris strangling his little babies to death went into my mind. This happend already a few times. Whenever I "picture" him killing and later disposing them, it feels like I couldn't bear this story. I feel sick. Picturing him seeing Bella turning blue, looking into his eyes, while daddy killed her.

I even asked myself if we should feel "sorry" for him because he apparently never was able to really love his children. But than I was thinking about his motives and once again this disgusted me so much.

I think we are "emotionally protected" due to the fact that no pictures of them were ever released and nobody ever witnissed him doing it to them all - including his vulnerable pregnant wife. This can be the only reason (besides his "nice" and "friendly" appearance) why there are people out there who really defend his actions and trying to understand the incomprehensible .

Continuation of summary of the main points of the podcast: Tricia, liltexans, gitana1, Levi Page. Some but not all is verbatim.

T: This puts CW into the category what we call the family annihilator, and Huffington Post has a great article about family annihilators. Levi, I’m going to start with you. What do you know about the family annihilator? Do you have any thoughts of what creates a person like this?

LP: Yes. That was a very interesting article that was published and I think one of the themes is basically this is, summarising, a lot of these men that take out their entire families, a lot of it happens because their ego is hurt and they take it out on their entire family and a lot of them commit suicide such as Chris Powell from the Susan Powell case. That is a famous example that I think all Websleuths readers and listeners are familiar with. [He gives details of the case]

They always take out their angst and their frustrations on their family instead of taking accountability, and their ego is so fragile that it gets hurt, and the phrase that is used in the Huffington Post article is “toxic masculinity”. I think that is something that is a theme in this case re CW because she was the breadwinner. When he was the breadwinner, they were having financial problems and now she’s the breadwinner and she has this amazing job where she gets all these perks. She gets to travel, she gets a company car, and I think there was a lot of jealousy there and a lot of, you know, “I’m expected to be the man and expected to make the money and the fact that I’m not in that position, I have a very hurt ego and so I’m going to take it out on my family”. I think that’s a possible motive in this case and maybe we’ll know.

T: Maybe we’ll know after the 19th.

Great podcast! Thanks @Tricia @gitana1 @liltexans and Levi (not sure if he's a member). Job well-done!

All of you did an excellent job of expressing the disgust and displeasure the majority of us felt with the most ardent CW defenders. As always, @gitana1 was flawless in her expression of the legal aspects of the plea with regard to the system being specifically designed to prevent successful claims on the part of the defendant in the future. Let's all hope everything goes as planned on the 19th, and we'll then come into some more information!

Kudos also to @Colorado303 for her decision to delay speaking to us until after the 19th. We'll be here waiting to hear from you when the time is right.

Amazing podcast! Just getting into the discussion of that other podcast. Some thoughts... @liltexans so insightful! And I expected you to have a deep southern accent lol! @Tricia thank you for making this site exist. It's good to hear your opinions. @gitana1 Amazing input. On the site, the case, FAs, and putting things in perspective. Already pretty much made clear you're my legal hero lol. Still listening

Thank goodness, I stated, I'ld love to hear a Podcast, POST plea, as I would not have known, there was a later one.
Now having heard the correct one (thanks to folk here), it is so disappointing that people are still out to 'harm' SW, in any way they can.
I guess this will go on.

I was involved in a Court case.
A female acquaintance of mine, came in as a witness for the Defendant.
She sat there on the stand, under oath, and LIED.
She ran me down.
WHY!!!!!!
It was horrid to hear.
I was shaking.

Luckily, my Barrister caught her out, and did the same with the Defendant.
My Barrister had evidence to prove both had NO CREDIBILITY.
Thank goodness, I WON the case.

But how many innocent people, are run down, lied about, by others, and cannot obtain evidence to prove their case.
Sometimes, in Court, the innocent victims lose their case.
I was lucky.

These Posters on FB etc perhaps enjoy causing damage, as in my case.

Remarkable WS podcast. I certainly agree about the murder podcast discussed. Here cw has already confessed, yet one of the hostesses felt compelled to make a dig at sw by sniping that cw was being told what to do (by the lawyers) as usual (sw having always told him what to do, being the implication). 33year old man.
I would be interested in seeing a profile of the flat out anti sw posters over there, I would bet 25-35, women, not in a relationship, envious of a gal who was a go getter. With beautiful kids, and a guy who supposedly was there for her.
I'm in that group (only to post daily "he killed them all" posts then I ignore the responses because they are all unhinged fanatics.) Most of the insanest ones are middle age with kids on their profile pic. To me they are a bunch of crazy mean housewives who spend way too much time online.

Love the Alford plea theory put forth by gitana1 in the podcast. I wasn't aware that was available there, and I'm fairly certain now that was the plea he requested that was rejected by this amazing prosecutor. It makes total sense to me.

What is the "murder podcast" that is being discussed where a hostess takes another swipe at SW? I'm absolutely fed-up with his apologists. They still haven't figured out a sociopath is able to create a distorted view for each of his audiences? Seriously, willful ignorance is a pet peeve of mine.
The podcast is Murder Rap Sesh, and I would suggest not finding the FB groups because you might die from reading all the ridiculous stuff they say on there.

Yep I remember that in this very thread!

Oh yes I agree. Gonna read about cluster B stuff now. Also I don't think he is/was at all capable of feeling love. He knew how to LOOK like he loved, he knew how to ACT like he loved, but just seeing videos of him and his demeanor, like no affectation, just flat, he didn't love SW or the girls IMO. So I doubt it was possible for him to have an intense emotional affair, to him it was just sex, IMO.

Time for bed. Loving this podcast. Will continue tomorrow. I especially am appreciating the discussion about "contrarians" and the attention seeking that goes with that. IMO It caused a lot of grief on these threads. I don't visit SM or other sites.
I will say, and I hope it doesn't get me in trouble here, I wish that Shannan had been treated like a victim here from the beginning. But part of me understands why the stance that was taken was taken. Gonna keep Shining like Shannon. Makes me feel bettter about myself. jmo

Just finished the podcast and found it very insightful and worthwhile as well. Everyone was excellent.
I'm also a gitana1 fan. I think she should consider starting her own Youtube true crime channel. I'm sure it would be a big success.

Continuation of summary of the main points of the podcast: Tricia, liltexans, gitana1, Levi Page. Some but not all is verbatim.

T: Gitana, you’ve been around long enough. We have seen these FAs. Levi touched a little bit on the issues as to what drives them to this. I might just add a little titbit and I’d like you to comment on it, and liltexans, we’ll be coming to you next. I think CW’s mother is a bit like (audio break up). I think we’re going to find out that Chris was babied and that momma thinks that he can do no wrong. What do you think, gitana?

G1: that’s a really sensitive topic. I agree, and I’ve had that sense from early on, but I wanted to be careful with what I said. I’m not a psych professional but I have followed these cases for a long time and looked at the dynamics, read books about the life stories of these people. What I have noticed over and over and over again, there seems to be a family dysfunction in these FAs, families of origin, that is super apparent.

One was Neil Entwhistle. [summarises the case] His parents are what I think is very typical of FAs, especially the ones who survive, the ones who don’t commit suicide. They were steadfast. They were almost delusional in their belief about what happened and in his innocence. And when you read a little bit more about his story, you find that like a lot of these FAs, this was a quiet guy, socially awkward loner-type. He and his brother – his mother sheltered them very, very intensely and would do things. Like when they were teenagers, she was playing ball with them in their little gated backyard. They weren’t really out on the street with their mates. They were playing catch with their middle-aged mother in their teens, and that was the social life they had. [gitana then talks more about the Powell case]

So there’s these patterns that we see. What I’ve tended to notice is that there’s at least one parent – I hate to say, “Oh, it’s the mother”, because that’s such a …”

T: People always blame the mom.
