Can't wait. Sounds exciting! I'm wondering if it would be uncool to pop some popcorn? :)

Well, lets all share our popcorn around, as this will be a treat for us.:):)
Perhaps drinks also, which ever you fancy!!!
I am popping out to buy ice cream also.

Let's have a virtual party, due to the plea deal.
Thanks Trish.

I think that it is about 1pm Australian Eastern Standard Time. If you aren't in that time zone you can work it out.
ETA, that is with daylight savings time.
Welcome back Jennifer - we MISSED you!:)

Very excited to hear tonight's podcast, thank you to everyone who is participating! Popcorn, definitely!

Catching up from earlier discussion and not worth a separate post, but as far as CW's mom visiting, I think she will and he will want her to do so. I'll be surprised if they don't try to get him moved to a NC prison.

If the usual way FA and family dynamics apply, I'd be willing to bet a whole lot I don't even have that CW & closest family members are still bitter and blaming Shanann for all of this in some way. JMO.

I believe @Tricia is going to explore the patterns and family of origin dynamics of FAs on tonight's show. There has been some research on FAs over the years and certain commonalities are often present. It's definitely something to consider and investigate.

I absolutely agree with you. This is somehow SW’s fault, and she “made him do it.”

It’s dead wrong and absolutely sick, but it’s the same old story as these things go.

Wow. Great subject choice.

To me. and I think to most others, CW's words, behavior, and actions painted a very vivid picture. From his interactions with NUA when she was trying to find out if SW and the girls were okay, to the interviews, to his admissions of where and how he hid the bodies. his confession to adultery and even to his accusation against SW; all painted a picture of a liar and FA. We were not and are not a jury, so it was never a "rush to judgement", it was a logical assessment based on available facts and evidence. I, and many others, saw a progression of facts and evidence that pointed to one person being the murderer of all; CW! I, and many others, remained open minded, but asked for alternative facts and evidence that supported an alternative explanation. I never saw alternative facts and evidence. Now the truth has been revealed and there is no presumption of guilt, CW has admitted guilt. to everything! He was and is guilty. I have no apologies for my assessments, opinions, or position, because I wasn't judging a possibly innocent man guilty. I was
assessing, opining, and taking a position based on evidence and facts. I truly hope nothing like this ever happens again, because, like you, I find it profoundly disturbing and tragic.
Well said!

Agreed! Pity parties and blame game. Still, the truth is the truth and they have to live with it, like it or not!

I don't want to derail this thread since we have a thread for Laci and Conner. Essentially, there is a possibility that the conviction could be overturned due to the actions by one of the jurors when they went on their jury field trip to inspect/look at Scott's boat. Again, I don't know if the conviction will be overturned, and I certainly hope it won't, but his legal team is trying to get his conviction overturned. Maybe it won't be "soon", but anything would be too soon for me. He should never leave prison.

There’s also a doco series, I think it’s fairly new, that seems hellbent on making one believe he’s actually innocent. I’ve only watched a few episodes. Ugh. He’s guilty as hell.

Will we be able to listen to the podcast later on? I’m moving house right now!

I want to add, I’m currently watching The Killing Season, I had no idea it had so much to do with Websleuths! So cool!

Ok I won’t derail the thread anymore, just wanted to say that somewhere here!

In less than two weeks, as well as CW’s sentencing, we should be discussing the autopsy reports. Because we have all come to know Shanann, Bella and CeCe by following this case, it will likely be difficult for many here to read the reports. We don’t know what they may reveal, and while personally, I don’t expect any big surprises, you never really know.

Nobody prepared me for the first autopsy report I read, and every one since then has been different - some of them easier than others. I think there may be a lot of questions, so I have put together some links I hope will be helpful. I am aware that we don’t know yet if the COD was strangulation, but I’m guessing that is what the reports will show. And, although the sample reports below involve victims of ligature strangulation, I don’t necessarily think a ligature was used.

@JudgeJudi has shared some good information regarding strangulation and can probably add to this list.

The Weld County Coroner’s website includes terms, definitions and frequently asked questions: Coroner - Weld County

Example autopsy report 1 - JonBenet Ramsey, 6 yrs., ligature strangulation

I’m also going to do a sort of robocall to some of our medical professionals to see who is willing to assist with questions once the autopsy reports are released:
@MementoMori, @Skigirl, @DrWatson, @Curiosum, @crasshopper, @Bill C, @DrWander, @texaswanderer, @AlwaysHopeToHelp, please let us know if we can tag you with questions once the autopsy reports are released! TIA
MOO

As I went back to read the appeal for Scott, in their opinion, nothing was done correctly!

The more I read, the memories came flooding back and it seemed as if that trial was just recently. IIRC, Scott’s mother has never accepted the fact her golden boy did this murder. Mother’s carry a big weight in some son’s lives. Can you imagine the ego charmed Scott denying he killed Laci and his Mother supporting him 100%? They are really a mixed up crazy duo.

IMO, Scott will never see a new trial. He has nitpicked his coverage to death. I guess we all would if our life was on the line. My brain thought if one took a plea deal, there were automatically no appeals. Does that have to be made a part of the plea deal?

I am specifically thinking of Mark Sievers friend who turned on him and took a plea. IIRC, and I could be 100% wrong, that guy cannot appeal.

Soon the darkness and dangers will begin for CW as he enters the Colorado Department of Corrections. The journey will begin with processing through Denver Reception and Diagnostic Center, which generally takes around 28 days. In DRDC his needs will be assessed and his custody level and his long term facility assignment will be determined. While there he will submit his phone list for approval (persons he may call). After that he will be going to a very contained, very controlled, very masculine environment. Upon arrival he will be a celebrity, not in a good way, but as a target, like Jared Fogel, Charlie Manson, Jeffrey Dahmer and others, who were attacked in prison. Fogel was beaten, Manson was set on fire, and Dahmer was beaten to death. CW has been in the media spotlight and he carries that with him into prison where there will be prisoners who will believe that harming or killing CW will gain them the media spotlight and/or give them gravitas with other prisoners. There will also be prisoners who will want to harm CW because he killed little children. In prison there will be a real threat of bodily harm, rape, even murder. Prison will be different from his time in jail and very much different from his past life. He will have to share a cell. CW will be LWOP, and from what I've read, there will be no interest or need to rehabilitate him, he's there until he dies. He will be allowed some visitors, sometimes. Visitations do get cancelled. If he does any work he can look forward to earning $.13 to $.38 per hour (that's cents!) He will have an account his earned money goes into and into which his family, etc., can deposit money. The money can be used at the commissary. His friendships and romances will be limited and defined by his surroundings.

CW will no longer have any privacy, not even going to the bathroom. He will no longer have a drivers license. He will never own or drive a vehicle again. No more trips or vacations. No going out to dinner, shopping, movies, concerts, etc. In fact, no going out. No meal choices. No clothing choices (bye-bye spiffy shirts). No credit cards. No more cell phone (if caught with a contraband phone it will be confiscated and he will be punished!). All of the ordinary things available to us, that we take for granted, will be denied to CW, for the rest of his life. He will be very, very limited as to any goals he may set or plans he makes. He will be what he is, for the rest of his life; a prisoner, an inmate. A bad memory.

I just don't understand. He had a woman who loved him and seemed devoted to him and to his well being. He had a wife and family who loved him. They gave to him in so many ways. He had a bright future full of possibilities. Now they are gone, the future is gone, and only pain, sorrow, and confusion remain. What did he want and need that led to this horrible nightmare? I just don't understand.
Powerful post. Well said.

If CW's income was in the $65,000 to $70,000 range, and if I'm figuring Colorado and federal taxes correctly, after child support (3 children), etc., CW would have had an after tax income of about $27,000 to $30,000. Not that good of an income for a single guy who wants to play, but not that bad either. And, as several here have said, there are ways he could have earned additional income if he had tried hard. The only real trauma from a divorce would have been to his perceived image and vanity. The reality is the tragic, horrible murders were probably to preserve his self image and thus totally senseless.

And, there are a lot of women out there who would be attracted to a man who was divorced, but responsibly took care of his children. Right? I wonder if he talked about things to anyone, especially anyone who could and would give honest, solid advice? Sadly, I doubt it.
