Only because we know what happened afterwards. It is our imagination.

I think the photo where CW holds his hands behind SW's neck looks more ominous to me. But again, only because we know how the story ended.

I looked through photos of serial killers and shooters. Some are pretty average, some, like Dahmer, clearly autistic.

Ted Bundy does have the gleam of high nervous energy in his eyes. The rest of the face is OK. Eyes only. I believe that at times he could get manic, btw. But again, how many people have this gleam? Tons. In other words, in the context of the events, it might look ominous, but in no way is it predictive.

And Dylan Roof looks average as can be, for example.

Re. CW, there are other photos where he has intense nervous energy, one from the jail, and a couple - with SW, but the one at the b-day to me looks like a poorly taken photo.

(We don't know what he was thinking about, btw. We assume, about the killings, but maybe about his barbecue, if he were hungry).
I tend to agree with you. The only thing I really disagree with is Dylan Roof.

That haircut tells me that something is seriously wrong with him.

I deleted my post. I guess I was just being silly after all.

Something that has always stood out for me from her videos was her constant praising of CW. She often mentioned how wonderful he was/what a great dad he was/what a great job he did etc. I don't doubt she meant it but why was it necessary to re-inforce it so much ? Was it to keep him happy, to make him feel better or to keep the peace at home ?

It struck me very early on and my odd feeling about it has never changed. Like she was trying to constantly please him....I don't know how to fully explain it but it seemed like she did so much while he just existed, happy to take the praise, go on the wonderful holidays etc., while Shanann worked so hard to keep house/home/job/kids happy.
I always thought she praised him to boost his confidence. He was probably insecure about her love for him and wanted constant reassurance. It would not surprise me if he made her feel guilty if she didn't mention him. Anther subtle sign of control. Imo

If he walked into the courtroom to an empty gallery and was told no-one came because no-one cared, do you think he would be relieved or dismayed?

I think he would be annoyed.
He is insignificant, non important in all their lives, that he has been deleted.
He did all this for his ego, and now no one cares about this person.
No one is interested in him.

Honestly, she is not here to answer. It could have been an effort to socialize him, a sales pitch, a genuine gratitude to the guy who stood by her side when she was ill and gave her two beautiful kids, or something else. She mentioned "dark" place, there was a prior divorce. Maybe even an all-too-understandable wish to show to everyone that she was happy in a new marriage?
Or maybe an attempt to persuade herself that she was happy with him.

And most likely, all of the above, and then some.

One thing is obvious, she did not see it coming, and most likely, did not see him as a controlling man. She trusted him a lot.

That’s what makes guys like him so scary.

This crime wasn’t precipitated by a separation, documented abuse, known marital strife, or any other obvious warning signs.

It seemed to have come out of nowhere.

It's been mentioned that Shannan may have gone to NC as a trial separation of sorts. I have a hard time seeing this. IIRC, she and CW had their trip to San Diego right before, and it seems to me just a planned awesome trip back home to see her family.
Now what happened in those weeks she was away and he had "freedom" from his wife and babies is a different story. And it seems she did start to express concerns about his behavior after he came to visit. I'm so curious about their communications and his communications with the AP during that time.
Does anyone think text messages will be released after sentencing?

Relieved, of course! No danger to him.

He wore a bulletproof jacket to the hearing.

He is not a dramatic, but brave, Othello. He does not want to take responsibility. He acknowledges his guilt only in exchange for his own life.

He is a coward. Being killed in public by someone else, take him out of the misery, is not for him. He clings to his life. He values it. He is scared for himself. And all the sobs are not even for CeCe. They are for his miserable life.

If not released, the DA will certainly mention them if they provide evidence of motive or premeditation.

Whatever the conclusions, some sort of evidence has to back it up. Text messages and other communications would be great evidence.

I do. I think a lot of stuff will be released. Including the police interviews. Internet searches. Etc.

In regards to your comment about Ted Bundy’s eyes and how they had “that” gleam, but then you appeared to doubt yourself so said “tons” of people have it...I am more inclined to agree with your first thought that there’s something to be said about it. Especially after cases like this. Where the person seemed so “normal”...but then there was SOMETHING about the eyes...I think that “gleam” that we don’t immediately label happiness, worry, sadness, excitement (because we can’t quite put a finger on it) is our instinct recognizing psychopathy, something missing, something sinister! I don’t know if I’m making any sense because this site makes my mind think a million things at once/morbidly excited lol but basically...I agree with your thought that a “gleam” (or even noticing something about someone’s eyes that you can’t name) means something. We’re just used to talking ourselves out of it and ignoring that tons of people have it. Until tragedies like this.

I really hope so! For some reason I just have a need for this "man" to be completely exposed for who he truly is.

I am curious to hear the judges statement at sentencing. Sometimes they refer to specific actions that took place during the commission of the crime. I wonder if he will reveal anything.

But - I don't know how you interpret the DA's word "partial" used in this context. Maybe, "we don't know what else pushed him to do it".

But maybe (and this is how I view it) "for 99.9% of people this reason would not be enough to kill a pregnant wife and two little girls".

So we still shall be left wondering, after the 19th, why, or how the heck that reason was the rationale to squeeze the life out of own daughters whom he raised...

And the truth is, it is some craziness that may defy any psychiatric diagnosis. Simply, if in these circumstances, a person makes a choice that most people would not even think of, it is craziness, only of some special sort. Not in the sense of mental illness, but in the sense of extreme deviation off the norm.

I did the exact same thing. I thought he was just insecure, so I praised him more than usual. Turns out, he had me fooled!

My ex fooled me too. Turns out he just wanted to be able to “prove” (when I left him, cause he knew I eventually would grow tired of his ways) that he wasn’t a manipulative narcissist and I was just a “psycho 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬” because why would I have posted all those sweet pictures, allowed the syrupy sweet posts to be tagged, or praised him righttt? (If I hadn’t the silent treatment, coldness to myself and children and threats of being left for the woman he hung over my head, while pregnant!! (Ding ding ding) would have been unbearable)

I totally agree and I want to know but fortunately for all of us we probably won't understand because it is incomprehensible what he did and there's no reason that will justify it or even explain why somebody with obviously heinous reasoning committed this evil!
