I'm finding it hard to come to grips with this case today. Just imagining the families, particularly SWs family and how they can even grieve, how they can even go on after this is unfathomable. It's the most unimaginable thing in the world. The gravity of the loss. It's just getting to me...please excuse my ranting

Thank you. The article still doesn’t make it clear to me exactly when she was shut down about telling CW not to plea. Which podcast reported the outburst? The WS podcast or the one we can’t discuss? And who reported it to the podcast?
Murder rap sesh had one of their people in the hearing. We cannot link to them but if you Google or youtube search you can find their latest report. They claim to be in contact with the W family, and have inside info. I listened to as much of it as I could tolerate and IIRC Mrs W made some loud comment during the plea to the effect "Don't do it" but I am not clear about that, or if there was a separate meeting in which she tried to persuade him.

Chris Watts' parents break their silence after son's guilty plea in murder of wife, daughters
Shanann’s memory and reputation deserves to be protected. And her family is fully prepared to do so.”
Good. I hope they have grounds to sue the folks making up defamatory garbage about Shanann. The other people being implicated in the garbage they are spewing should sue as well.
I have always felt like they will speak as soon as the legal part is done. They love Shan'ann and her children enough to keep quite and get justice for them. They have carried themselves well. Shan'ann came from a very good family. I also believe that the DA will be there helping them anyway he can. I believe he has been impressed with them, as have I.

It’s clear that they see CW as a child who needs his parents to guide him through juvenile court for stealing a candy bar or something. No matter how many times we see it and how common it is, the fact that they can’t see him as an adult infuriates me.

He had 6 weeks alone. He could have gotten a lawyer and filed for divorce while eating those meals Shanann left for him. He could have had his mommy fill out the paperwork. He could have asked his AP to help him. If he told her over and over he wanted to separate because “he didn’t love her no more” and she was 2 time zones away where she couldn’t supposedly control him and keep him from his family, what’s the problem?

This is a man who had no troubles having at least one affair, murdering his wife and children, concealing the bodies and going straight to work, then was able to lie like an expensive rug to LE, both families and on national TV without a sign of grief or concern. I’m sure he could have figured out how to put a suitcase in his truck since he put 3 bodies in there.

They had no words of grief for their grandchildren, only words of spite and contempt for the pregnant daughter in law their son murdered. Only disgusting comments about their poor son not wanting to put the children he murdered with the wife he blamed. Not a single word about the horror of what little he even admitted to. Down to the fact that he even didn’t call 911. Poor Chris, poor parents, he ruined their lives and his. And it’s all Shanann’s fault, still. Even after he killed her.

They wanted a trial. They still do. They want her to be dragged through the mud to exonerate their poor verbally abused son who was forced to wear new shirts.

There are no excuses and no words to describe how disgusting and despicable this is and they are IMO.

I’d like to know legally exactly how much time & access he has had to talk with his family between August and the plea, because they’re making serious accusations against the defense. It needs to be clear if and when he had phone and visitation time, and that he willingly chose not to speak to them and clue them in beforehand.

All this by his family does not surprise me. SW’s friend said the mom and SW had a volatile relationship. His mom didn’t like SW from the beginning. She didn’t want to give up control of Chris and didn’t like shanann having a say over him. The mom and sister didn’t even go to wedding because of their feud, while dad did because he always like SW. I think the mom babied Chris his whole life and when another woman came in his life she hated it.

So I remember just before news of these interviews broke someone here saying there were rumblings on SM of something big going on behind the scenes. Was it this?

Well I do know the host of that podcast was posting on SM she had a plan in the works yesterday. She and other hosts have become super close with the watts family and persuaded them to do media interviews now in order to get a new lawyer to take his case.

.... the podcast -- it can't be linked here. The passage you're looking for can be seen and/or heard in one of the live TV interviews which have been linked in this thread.

Apalling interviews with Watts family. Unfortunately, those videos are now click-bait for future reference on how to successfully raise a FA.

Can you imagine the Watts and Shan'ann conversing? I'll bet it was an absolute hoot.

These people seriously need to look into a family spokesperson. Without help this family is digging an even deeper hole for their son.

A legal representative might be the better choice if they're going to accuse the Colorado Public Defender's office of coercion, not representing CW's best interest and railroading him. The policy of the PD's office is that they do not comment on the cases of its defendants. And they are simply doing their job by not allowing a discussion of the case during when visits and phone calls are recorded. Ironically, they are protecting their client's case and being accused by his parents of improper representation. MOO

I suppose if they have the money to spend, some high profile attorney will definitely step forward. Let’s just pray for SW, her children and her family and friends, that by some miracle, CW sticks to his guns and takes his punishment as deserved.
They don’t have that kind of money.

In order for CW’s parents to continue to deny that CW killed the girls, CW has to be the one who wanted to end the marriage because if Shanann was the one who wanted to end it, she wouldn’t have killed the kids.

I agree. If his "confession" was a complete lie, and he wasn't the one who wanted the separation, then that negates the rest of his confession, IMO. I think that would also negate any potential ability to try to lay the blame on Shanann for the murders of Bella and Celeste in a trial as well.

JMO, it appears to me there were and still are some funky dynamics going on and I get the feeling that CW was painting himself out to be a victim of Shanann's to his family and he was probably doing this for some time.

JMO, I think they jumped on that, because no one was good enough for their boy, and especially not a strong woman, who wrangled away control, and changed him. It's all her fault.

I'm anxious to hear what the DA has to say about a partial motive.

All JMO.

LOL Those hosts want ratings. They used the Watts family to get them. JMO and I know I'm cynical.

Actually, just because the murder rap sesh podcasts cannot be linked here, it does not mean they cannot be referenced. @Tricia has very good reasons for not wanting a direct link posted to their site, but we did discuss a couple of their podcasts on Tricia's podcast, so the generalities of what they have said/are continuing to say may be mentioned here.

Websleuths Lingo

Given that he annihilated his entire family, I think a psych eval would be the first thing they would do, but I don't know for a fact that they did one. It sounds as though the attorney is saying "if." MOO

I believe its up to him to agree to a psyche evaluation inasmuch if he planned to use it in his defense; OTOH perhaps he WAS given one and it also was not favorable to his defense.

I'm thinking his defense team might now know a little of what Shan'ann went through. Nothing is good enough for their boy.

Of course what his parents said is the same as what the CW supporting VI told us about him wanting out of the marriage. Imo, this just makes CW look even more like the coldblooded monster he truly is.

I believe CW told his family beforehand that he wanted out so they would back up his original plan to make everyone think that Shanann was so distraught that he wanted to leave, she took the girls and left everything behind just to spite him.

It was all part of his evil idiotic plan. MOO
