Reality check time;

Prosecution charged CW with nine (9) crimes, including five (5) charges of premeditated murder. The charges were supported by facts and evidence, including the autopsy. Upon receiving the autopsy results the defense team contacted the prosecution about a plea agreement. A plea agreement was finally reached with the only concession by the prosecution being; the removal of the DP. CW pled guilty to ALL nine (9) counts. CW, in essence, admitting he was guilty of ALL nine crimes. The judge asked CW understood the charges he was pleading guilty to and he affirmed it was so. The autopsy results and some evidence will be released within 24 hours of the sentencing on November 19th and are expected to fully support the prosecutions case. The reality is CW was investigated, charged, was fairly represented, and because of the facts and evidence, chose to plead guilty on ALL counts. CW murdered them all. The murders were premeditated.

Parents grieve and anguish for their children and two families have been devastated by these crimes. Still, in the end, it was all CW and only CW is responsible. Shanann, Bella, Cece, and Nico are only victims and in no way, or by any stretch of the imagination, deserved their fates. They do deserve to be remembered with dignity and respect.

thanks for your post.

They can't just hire someone to represent their son, he is an adult, so why are they asking for someone to "step up"?
They are saying he has been silenced, that he is not allowed to call them by his defense, that he is being lied to by his defense. They want him to know he has a lot of people supporting him and believe him.

Apalling interviews with Watts family. Unfortunately, those videos are now click-bait for future reference on how to successfully raise a FA.

Can you imagine the Watts and Shan'ann conversing? I'll bet it was an absolute hoot.

These people seriously need to look into a family spokesperson. Without help this family is digging an even deeper hole for their son.

#ShineLikeShanann

My own opinion and baby girls are absolutely adorable but Shan’ann deserves much more than CW.

RIP.

Maybe they have the mistaken notion that another attorney will share more information and allow them to participate in decisions involving his case. That seems to be a source of contention - that they have not been kept informed and are unable to exert any influence on the decisions he's making. MOO

You guys nailed CW mother on your podcast - I am impressed!

At the end of one of the interview, CW mother said that life in prison is as bad as the death penalty - he will die in prison. I feel like she wants him to fight it simply because she thinks he has nothing to lose. She did not like Shanann and does not care about not putting both families through a horrible trial. Do they deep down suspect he did this? Or just want him to get off?

But hearing the dad say CW put the girls in OIL TANKS because he didn't want to put them with her - wow. Just wow.
I had been holding out hope that CW's father was a decent guy caught in an unthinkable situation, but he's either an idiot or a monster along with the rest of them. Mods, feel free to delete this and give me a T.O. I have nothing productive to add.

I have to agree with several others who have said; the Watts are being taken advantage of and being used. The saddest thing is, IMHO, that not only are they making it harder for SW's family and friends, but also harder for themselves. The facts and evidence are there and can't be changed. Drawing things out, is like picking a sore; you make it worse and risk infection. IMHO the Watts are blinded by their need to blame someone other than CW, who is connected to them, thereby lessening their own (as they see it, and/or fear) responsibility. That makes them also blind to the consequences of their words and behavior. CW is guilty, completely and solely, and nothing will change his guilt or the horror of the crimes he is guilty of committing.

So, to read between the lines, he blocked them out of his life for the last 3 months, he cruelly let them be shocked by hearing about the plea deal just as it was being done, and now they think they will just discard his own wishes, and somehow carry on an alternate defense for him whether or not he wants it?

I don't think many attorneys would be interested in the case since it seems like the evidence against him is substantial, but I feel like his parents are just confirming the case is not worth taking on. In addition to him being clearly guilty, his family is intrusive and has no desire to let the lawyers do their job or their son make his own decisions. I really don't think the Watts family has the money to make the trouble worth someone's time.

Someone had probably already advanced them money for a book.

Mother knows best. Or she thinks she does, anyway.

It's really ridiculous that they think they can overturn his plea for him. That's not how any of this works.

That would not surprise me! But I still don't think many attorneys would want to put up with their backseat driving, considering the amount of evidence against him.

Right, but the best atty in the world could show up and unless CW fires his PD nothing will happen. He can't just get access to his file.. Not sure Mom has processed that, since she is appealing for someone to take over. She said if CW not willing to fight, then she will....

It's almost as though she wants him declared nutso so she can push him away, take over and make sure it's all blamed on Shan'ann.

I'm so sorry for the pain this must be causing you. Please believe that the tremendous support of Shanann here on WS, must also exist elsewhere with many, many others, because she was such a bright and good person and soul. Great friends like you are a testament to that brightness and goodness. Don't let small, inconsequential, selfish people get you down. Let them wallow in their own pigsty, that they helped create. We're here for you, hang in there.

This is so horrible to think about.:(
Possibly the Watts have been paid for giving these, and further interviews, and perhaps in the future, will benefit from a book about their evil son.
So, crime does pay.
Hope I am wrong.
MOO.

All this by his family does not surprise me. SW’s friend said the mom and SW had a volatile relationship. His mom didn’t like SW from the beginning. She didn’t want to give up control of Chris and didn’t like shanann having a say over him. The mom and sister didn’t even go to wedding because of their feud, while dad did because he always like SW. I think the mom babied Chris his whole life and when another woman came in his life she hated it.

I had a difficult relationship with my MIL but for CW mother not to show up at their wedding? WOW

Dear Colorado303,
No, my friend, we are not going to delete your post. Chris' parents, especially his mother, made a few pretty mean comments about Shanann and tried to paint their son as someone who did nothing wrong. We are allowing our members to discuss these comments and to express how they feel. As long as it doesn't go too far.

I think pretty much everyone can understand not wanting to accept your son killed his kids and pregnant wife but no one understands the vitriol toward Shanann from Chris' parents.
It is jaw dropping, shocking, and all around awful.

Jackie Peterson, all over again I swear.

just wondering if some of these developments might set up an appeal?

- no psych evaluation
- not able to talk to family?
- no 'established motive'

I think someone else might have said it on another board but sometimes in exchange for taking the death penalty off the table in what is FOR SURE a death penalty case, a prosecutor will allow a defendant to plead guilty but require them to tell the entire story about what happened and WHY. So that in the future, there is no chance of appeal because if the defendant tried to do so, the state would already have all the details and motive to fall back on....In this case, although we WSers have all speculated on several MOTIVES, we have never heard what the real motive was or what exactly happened. I am guessing that might be because the prosecutor does not believe we will EVER really know because CW will just keep lying and making up self-serving stories.
