I always wonder the same thing. As I mentioned before, imagine how he must have felt if he was given an ultimatum that night, if he didn't leave his family he wouldn't have anything on the side anymore. The hatred towards his family that could have spurred, in a man who could not be honest, make a decision, go for divorce.
It is substantiated.

Can I ask? Do we definitely know that CW doesn't/didn't want to see his family? I ask, because all I got from the interviews was that they were not allowed to see him and when they did, it was separately, via remote access and monitored by his legal team. Is this usual?
I do not think it is unusual for them to monitor the conversations because they are recorded and anything revealed could be used against him. It is safe to say his parents would want to ask what happened and any version Chris would give would be scrutinized for inconsistencies. I don’t see it any different than lawyers who accompany their clients to interviews, they are there to protect their client. I don’t know specifically in this case but in general attorneys are not allowed to dictate who their clients communicate with. As to the remote access, maybe that had to do with restrictions with inmates in his position, how all visits are handled outside of his lawyers. Edited to add I would not be surprised if they monitored all his conversations.

To nutmeg, not sure how I quoted your post but that was not intentional, I will blame it on my cat ;)

This link to the interview with CW's parents should work for everyone as it's on YouTube.

It is very difficult to listen to. My blood pressure went up as the interview progressed.

How about we talk about the REAL bottom line here. The bottom line that would be spelled out by each and any successive respectable defence lawyer.

The bottom line is that Chris Watts has admitted that after reflection and with deliberation, without haste or upon impulse, he murdered his infant daughters Celeste and Bella, and his wife Shan'ann who he knew to be carrying his unborn son Nico.

He didn't come up with another 🤬🤬🤬🤬 and bull story that he killed Shan'ann in a red mist rage and the girls witnessed it so he killed them in a panic because he couldn't in that moment see another way out.

Why? The answer is incontrovertible in my view - he knows that evidence exists of his premeditation and deliberation of killing them all, or he wants to atone (which I highly doubt). Premeditation is a whole other ball game. No one signs their name to that unless they know it can be proved against them.

His temper or temperament had nothing to do with this.

I believe the reason they are coming out now is because of the host from that podcast we aren’t supposed to talk about. That host has got in her mind she is some qualified reporter/lawyer/investigator/psychologist. I don’t get why his parents are taking their legal advice from this person but I believe 100% it is due to those hosts doing. Their main goal to do this now is to get a top lawyer to take this case on and go back on his plea. They believe his defense was incompetent and working with DA because they are state funded. They believe it is all a conspiracy and he was duped into it by his defense.

Agree 100%. I can't even wrap my head around the absurdity.

I'd also like to know if we know for certain that CW has declined seeing/speaking to his own family. Wouldn't it be illegal for his legal team to prevent family from speaking to him?

I am so glad SW’s family issued a response to the Watts family’s interviews. They have been so respectful during this whole ordeal but I’m glad they didn’t let that interview stand without a response. Good for them!

Not having read the article yet, the first thought that pops into my head is, "remember the 24" circumference of the hole". Exactly the same size as my counter top electric kettle.
That's exactly what I told my husband last night after we watched Mama Watts' interview on the news. At least now we know where CW gets some of his interview skills. :shakeshead:

Exclusive: Parents of Chris Watts speak out after his murder plea deal

I was getting confused with the different interviews. I thought they were all the same.

WOW. His parents are vile. To degrade their daughter in law. Murdered by their son. And never even express any emotion for their grandchildren.

As if Shannan’s parents need more grief.

Shanann's parents, Frank and Sandra Rzucek, issued the following statement about their daughter's relationship with Chris:

Shannan Watts was a faithful wife, and the most gentle and loving mother in the world to her children Bella, Celeste, and Nico. She was also the best daughter any parent could ever hope for. Shanann was a wonderful soul.

Everyone who knew Shanann knows this to be true. Even Chris Watts knows this to be true. Yet Chris Watts still chose to murder Shanann, Bella, Celeste, and Nico. Chris Watts still chose to dump the bodies of his own family in oil tanks. And Chris Watts still chose to lie about it until he could lie no more. He pled guilty to murdering his family because he is guilty.

Monday evening, the parents of Chris Watts gave an interview in which they attempted to defend their son. In doing so, they felt the need to make vicious, grotesque and utterly false statements about Shanann. Their false statements, however hurtful and inaccurate, will never alter the truth about Shanann, and will never alter the truth about the crimes committed by their son, Chris Watts.

Shanann's memory and reputation deserves to be protected. And her family is fully prepared to do so. “

After the 19th, I can see her brother coming out with guns a-blazing with his words.

So who gave them the seed that he couldn't bring himself to bury the girls with their mother? That thinking is too advanced for him.

PS. I don't really want to know who invented that story, but the lies....the lies.

Mrs W said in the interview:

“He’s not a sociopath. He’s not a psychopath. I asked Chris, ‘If you did not do this, do not confess to something you didn’t do'. (CW’s attorney) shut me down. She completely shut me down."

The parents were asked if they feel he was coerced into taking the plea deal. Mrs.W said, “I don’t know. I have no idea. To me, all they wanted to do was save his life, just save his life. Save his life and life in prison — to me there’s no difference. He’s going to die in prison. I just want him to fight. I don’t want him to take this plea deal. I want him to plead not guilty to the children.”

They said they had many questions after he confessed to killing Shanann, claiming he saw her strangle their kids to death beforehand.

Mrs. W said, “He said, ‘I’m sorry. I lost — I went into a rage, and I killed her. I am so sorry. I ruined your life. I ruined my life".

Mr W said, “After the fact with the bodies, he said, ‘Dad, I could not put the girls with her after what she did — I could not put her with her’”.
[Steam was coming from my head when I read this]

Denver7 asked why then he decided to put the girls in oil tanks. Mr W replied, “I don’t understand. I don’t understand”. “If he didn’t kill the children, I want him to face that and let them prove it. There’s a whole lot of unanswered questions about the case. Everything happened too quick there, from a case status to a plea”.

Mrs W said, “It has been so overwhelming. And I feel like I have to do something to help my son. I just need to do something. If he’s not going to fight, I’m going to fight for him.”

I would love to know this as well.

Well, IIRC, the plea deal had been discussed between CW and the DA for some 3 weeks, ie since the autopsy was disclosed (!). If CW had chosen to communicate with his family, then the mother could not, honestly, have said she and the father knew nothing about the plea deal.

Which wouldn’t necessarily be a good idea. The CW apologists would just get even crazier, IMO.

I hope that he & his parents (ETA: I mean Shan’ann’s family) are being closely counselled and supported especially regarding interviews & media releases & that it will continue after sentencing & the revelation of the *facts*.

It is substantiated.

So if CW was with AP Saturday night before the murders, whatever he said is quite significant. Because I believe the murders were likely planned before then, I am less inclined to think it was an ultimatum; is it possible that instead he was busy setting up his plan, and the idea that Shannan might take off with the kids? IMO, but I am certain there is very hard evidence to prove CW is solely responsible for the premeditated murder of his devoted wife and precious children. His parents only make his guilt more obvious. And boy I think it was Gitana who called it, they really fir the profile of parents of FA -- just like Peterson mother, they seem angry at the victim instead of empathetic and horrified. Just grotesque caricatures of overbearing, indulgent, interfering, infantilizing, venomous, narcissistic and mean-spirited, small-minded people. Are they themselves murderers? No. But they should be horrified, apologetic, empathetic to the true victims no matter what they think about who did what. They only think of themselves -- CW will die in prison, blah blah blah. Um hello, his wife and your three grandchildren are DEAD and the real victim's parents can barely stop weeping because the victim is NOT CW. Uggh sorry I know we are all just repulsed.

I don’t know where it originated from but that exact line of thinking was posted here way back at the beginning of this case by those who “were keeping an open mind”.

No. Many attractive women are not liked by other women.

100% true. I remember when I was young at a party with a friend from childhood and her clique. Popular girls. (I was not). Another woman came to the party no one knew. Pretty. Sexy.

Oh my gosh that clique just started tearing her apart. Gossiping about every bit of her.

I just got up and hung out with her for the rest of the night. I felt bad.

After the presser following the plea DA Rourke said he “still can’t answer facts surrounding the investigation because at least at this point the Judge has not formally accepted those guilty pleas in a post sentence. After that sentencing hearing we will have an opportunity to answer the questions that I know many in the media and many in the public have had from the day this investigation started”.

In light of the vicious and disgusting comments from CW's parents, I hope Rourke answers more rather than less questions from the media and, if it's possible, discuss the most compelling evidence they had which convinced the defence that CW had no chance of succeeding.

Nothing will convince CW's supporters of his guilt so I'd really like to see Rourke go on the attack.

Now if he'd chopped up Shan'ann and put her in the tank, and buried the girls...but the other way around? I can't believe they said that on TV. No wonder the dad didn't understand, it's poppycock.

[Word origin of 'poppycock' C19: from Dutch dialect pappekak, literally: soft excrement, from pap soft + kak dung; see pap1.]

After seeing these interviews now I’m really wondering who came up with the “SW did it” scenario after that father-son talk at the police station.
