Did you watch the video in that article? It has been updated since last night. Supposedly CW's sister has a letter that says if anything ever happens to him, to look at Shanann. Also, the reporter confirms that CW's family didn't attend his and Shanann's wedding. Near the end of the video. MOO

I call BS on that letter.

Yes, I wonder if someone in the family or a friend of the family was present in some of the SM groups that supported him and played a big role in convincing people of what a horrible person Shanann was. That would explain how people seemed to know certain things and how it spread so fast. What a horrible thing to do.

Oh I’m sure of it. I actually wouldn’t blame the defense if they did shut them out because they obviously cannot stop talking or spilling what they know or think they know. It’s pretty obvious now that they leaked about the plea deal to his supporters before the hearing. I think the supporters were under the impression he would be pleading to lesser charges though.

If he wanted their help he could have asked for it. And he could have called them during the past many weeks, in which he had phone privileges each and every day.
His parents are under the impression that his incompetent attorneys kept them away from their fine son. Their son wouldn’t have refused to talk to them, they’re a loving family who can all trust one another.

Thank you for posting. Just crazy. The mom just does not want him in prison. She doesn't want him to take a plea because it means life in prison. I'm curious as to what "defense" she thinks they can put on. It doesn't sound like he has much of a defense. If he had even an adequate defense, CW could have taken it to trial! His defense team must have spelled out enough reality to him that he opted to take a plea deal. The mother has not been privy to any of this! It's like she wants to fight for the sake of fighting because she doesn't like reality, but doesn't care anything about the vile crimes her son committed. She just wants to go talk to the principal and make it all go away. She seems like a nightmare. And she just doesn't get it. I don't care if Shanann was in fact the most verbally abusive wife and total witch of a daughter-in-law (which I highly doubt). You don't get to murder someone for that! His parents sound terrible bashing the victim.

It does remind me of Meghan Markle's family. At first you think, oh they are just out of their element and don't quite know how to behave. It's too bad she doesn't talk to her family. Then they keep talking and talking and show the absurdity and then it's like and.....now I clearly see why she keeps these terrible people far away from her!
i think the sm people have filled her full of bs. Pie in the sky, look how bad sw was, sure they can use the Christmas videos in court, bossed him around, let the kids cry, the whole 9 yards, and the worst i can't mention here. i think the sm ppl exploited cw family and they weren't savvy enuf to look at it critically. And now mom and dad are making fools of themselves. Really, if it weren't for SW then he would have continued at NASCAR?

They are still on YouTube and FB.
Yes but looks like iTunes removed which is a huge deal for a podcast trying to make money I would assume

But the biggest problem is that he CANNOT talk to them alone because any meetings/calls with him and his parents would be recorded and videod by the prison. The attorneys are trying to protect him because the parents are very emotional and volatile and the wrong things could be asked or answered.

If they asked him to be specific about what happened that night, it could ruin his chances at a trial and or at a good plea deal.
They don’t seem to know that.

Yes, and somehow that dangerous woman and her children are dead, but her lovely son is alive.
Her Golden Boy. Just like Scott Peterson.

They don’t seem to care about that. The interviews were all about spreading their opinions and voicing what they want out of all this.

Scott Reisch has commented on this Punked YouTube video that he is considering taking the case

They were sure! Almost gleeful.

Was that after or before he commented that it would be a very expensive case?

Wow - that video in the second interview. After the newscasters show the clip of CW parents, they talk more about the case and say there is a "letter" that CW wrote to his sister at some point and said, "If anything happens to me, look at my wife," and that the family says that proves Shanann was unstable. That is the first I have read/seen of this "letter." Have we discussed that at all here? (49 threads I may have missed!!)

ETA more detail: This is also the video where the reporter asks, "What happened to this kid from Pine Forest High School?" showing an innocent picture of CW. And his mother says, "What happened? He met Shanann."

The newscaster also says in the clip, that the Watts family felt that "Shanann was dangerous and that they didn't even go to the couple's wedding."

Did you notice the looks the reporters were giving each other while talking about the letter? Like they almost couldn't believe they had to talk about it - it was so ridiculous?

so really, we're supposed to believe that the sister didnt make a copy?

Right? So weird. There's a letter, I swear, but it's probably gone. But you should believe us.

I find it impossible to believe if a letter existed it wouldn't have been trotted out long before this. And if it did exist, I would consider the statement to be another attempt by CW to make his family take his side when he walked out on his pregnant wife and two little girls.

That's the craziest part - that the tv interviews didn't even show the most outrageous and offensive parts of the interview. That all came from the newscaster giving a summary of it. I wonder if when the cameras were off, that the parents let their guard down a bit, and just went off on a rant to the reporter. Otherwise you would think they would have aired those parts. JMO.

Yep - exactly my thoughts.

Remember when so many of us said the thing that might convince us that he was telling the truth were text messages or letters of her saying things like she is going to kill them or something like that? Maybe they were reading here the whole time and came up with the idea of the letter. OR... CW wrote it himself in the weeks before the murder. If it even exists.

I'm certain they - or others that influence their thoughts - are reading here and changing tactics based on things that are written here.

I’m giving CW’s Dad a bit of a break. I think he’s a broken man/father over all over this, but also a man/father who would accept his sons guilt and the consequences of that guilt. I think he cared for Shannan & loved his grandkids....But it’s his wife who is at that controls of this sudden public run away train and he’s at a loss to stop it/her.

I thought that, too, until I saw his comments about SW in one of the interviews where he said something like 'you have to know her to really know her' - meaning there was a dark side or something like that.

His parents didn't attend the funeral for their granddaughters, either, IIRC. I don't know how a loving grandparent stays away from that. I wonder if they've even visited the girls' graves.

I wonder if there was an issue with SW's family being Catholic? Sometimes, that can be a huge issue for some protestant denominations.

After. He said he’s talked with family and is considering case.

They don’t seem to know that.

I don’t know if she doesn’t know this or if she does but just doesn’t care. She seems to think she should have much more say about what’s going on than CW or his attorneys do.

I think the BS is coming from the other direction. From her and family to them.

Yes, SW was dangerous, abusive and unstable, yet CW is the only one not only alive from that household but he also appeared not to even have a scratch on him! Nor was he particularly upset in those media interviews. Amazing, isn’t it?

From the video beginning about 1:52:

"The Watts family told you that there is a letter and they say they told you that supports their position.

Yeah, they say there is a letter that they say the defense has uh, he said in it, he wrote "if anything happens to me, look at my wife," um, and apparently Chris' sister put that away somewhere and it supports the case about their contention that Shanann was unstable."

The reporter goes on to say that there was a conversation about whether the defense destroyed it and he says he has no evidence of that but "they say the letter's out there and supports their contention."
'Not a monster': Chris Watts' parents defend son who murdered family

So he thought she was deadly/ dangerous, but he had no problem with her taking off, out of state, with his little daughters for 5 weeks? Yah, sure thing...
