I also thought it very strange when she said, "He's not the psychopath next door." Is it common for people to have psychopaths living next door? Very strange.

I kind of laughed at that. Do Family Annihilators generally have a history of violence? I didn't think so. That's one of the main things that's scary about them-there often aren't any signs that they're going to do such a thing. Many, many people possess the characteristics of a FA but never commit any acts of violence. It's difficult to tell who's going to go off the deep end.

Agree, I have read comments on other sites that Shannan must have missed signs and my thought was just what you stated, most times there are no signs for FA’s.

This might be a repeat, but I thought I’d watched them all and then I came across this one I hadn’t seen:

Christopher Watts’ mother doesn’t believe son killed daughters
Omg! This one is crazy. The reporter asks, "Have you reconciled the idea that he could have done all of this?" And she says, "Yes. And it scares me to death. But I don't see why he is pleading guilty. I wouldn't. I'd fight. I'd fight to the end!"
It's like she really does question if he does this, but she doesn't understand why he would plead guilty. Face palm.

So do you think Mrs. Watts is controlling her husband? I think we know how she feels about that.
I have no clue if Ms W is controlling of her husband or anyone else. I do think, based on her actions/words, past and present, she is an extremely malicious human being. As far as SW goes, it appears Ms W has always been spinning a vicious, vile web of loathing and Mr W and her daughter share that web. To not have attended CW& SW's wedding Is unacceptable to me. Parents may not always approve of their child's choice of a spouse but there is nothing in my book that forgives something like that (short of your child marrying a murderer, and how ironic is that now). I am in disbelief that Ms W has gone beyond the pale with her comments about SW in recent days and to a national/world audience. She is hollow of any dignity.

Just waking up to 26 new pages on a new thread! What happened last night? Was there a fourth interview?

Maybe she's also blaming the guy next door with a camera pointed on Chris's house that caught him in the ACT and calling him names. (Tongue in cheek, I just couldn't pass it up because she is doing the blame game.)

I wonder if Mommie Dearest has ever considered the concept that "men marry their mothers." She is insisting that Shanann was controlling and ruled over her husband, to the point of being frightening, which is exactly how she keeps presenting herself over and over in these interviews.

She seems to be saying even if he is guilty he needs to fight, do not ever admit it, fight to the end - SP’s mom all over again

It's so interesting to me that she makes the claim that CW typed a letter saying that if anything happened to HIM, they should check Shan'ann. Ma'am, he. Killed. Her. Check that.

I have no doubt that she IS controlling of her husband and everybody else. Just like her son, she is transferring everything about herself onto Shanann. Imo

Typed a letter. On her computer. While visiting her home. That the defense somehow deleted/destroyed. Off her computer. Didn't text it.

Seriously. Who actually believes that nuttery?

He clearly inherited his excellent interview (and logical thinking) skills from his mother.

It occurs to me that CW’s parents put forth their very best selves for display in these interviews. I shudder to think how truly mean they were to SW, Bella, CeCe, you know, behind their backs -behind closed doors.

And another MOO thought - gleaned from the interviews- Mrs W is not discriminatory- she had no problem going for the jugular or knife to the back, when it came to SW.

Let's say it actually happened (even though it didn't).... the only reason for doing so would've been for use in his plan to annihilate his entire family. A planned defense. "See, look, I typed up a random letter saying I feared for my life! Shan'ann was dangerous! "

I would think if he did type such a letter, it is just one more piece of evidence that this was premeditated. That's the first thing I would think if I was on the jury. Maybe they did turn in a letter to his lawyers and they promptly got rid of it.

My thoughts exactly.

Oh, she knows he did it. Deep down. Even if she won't yet admit it fully to herself. I was surprised to hear her say this:
"But then you ask yourself, would a normal person put... dispose of the bodies the way he did?"
She knows.
But she wants him to "fight" anyway.

200% agree. When the dad said, “if he did it I can live with that”, I thought on boy, she is going to lay into him after the interview for him conceding that he might be guilty.

She knows and wants him free anyway. I find that scarier!

Could very well be. Or, I think it is possible she is hinting at an "abused husband" hypothesis/excuse for his abhorrent behavior. I have also heard the Asperger's and Thrive excuses thrown out there as well by those close to the family (Murder Rap Sesh podcaster). None of it works for me.
