The only fear I have is what if the camera equipment fails in some way. Will they be allowed to have back up equipment just in case. It says they aren't allowed to even change a lens during proceedings.

eta not the file linked in your post but the order that was linked earlier.
That's a good question. I don't have an answer. My guess is that they are not going to be allowed to interrupt the court proceeding in any way, so they better make sure all of their equipment is in tip-top, working order! MOO

Agree. Per the document they aren’t even allowed to change position once proceedings start

“I asked Chris, ‘If you did not do this, do not confess to something you didn’t do,’” Cindy Watts told ABC7. “(His defense attorney) shut me down. She completely shut me down.”

“If he didn’t kill the children, I want him to face that and let them prove it,” Ronnie Watts told the news station.

Chris Watts entered a guilty plea to nine charges last week: three counts of first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree murder of a child under the age of 12 by a person in a position of trust, one count of unlawful termination of pregnancy and three counts of tampering with a deceased body.

Shanann Watts, 34, was about 15 weeks pregnant with a son they planned to name Nico.

The Coloradoan in Fort Collins reported that Chris Watts held back tears as he pleaded guilty, his voice wavering each of the nine times he uttered the word. Weld County District Attorney Michael Rourke took the death penalty off the table -- at the request of Shanann Watts’ family.

"Based on the limited seating capacity in Division 17, the sentencing hearing will be held in Division 16, a courtroom that has greater seating capacity. However, Division 17 will be utilized for overflow seating and will offer live video streaming of the sentencing hearing."
So does the live streaming video in Div 17 come from that one media source in Div 16?

I understood from the document that the court would have their own equipment as there was a line in the doc about interference/compatibility of equipment. MOO

He has probably never stood up to her in his entire life. We saw how he followed his wife's directions without a complaint. I think he needed someone to run his life for him and when Shanann took his mother's place his mother simply could not stand it. She was bound to resent her no matter what. Now it's the lawyers he is listening to him instead of her. I think she is enraged to have all the control taken from her. Maybe the lawyers recognized this and that's why they discouraged him from talking to them. They knew she would just complicate things. Even though it's over, she just has to have her say. And in a HUGE way! She has made sure she cannot be ignored anymore. Not that it will change anything. Could she really believe that it could? Imo

I have had passive clients who have had trouble standing up for themselves. In several cases I've had to deal with their aggressive family members who threatened to derail the case or derail a good settlement deal.

As an experienced attorney you learn quickly how to control those situations, protect your client and "shut that **** down", as Cindy's Watts claimed was said to her.

I believed her. I would've done the same thing to protect a client who has made a reasonable decision and has people in their life trying to undermine it.

I have one little bit of sympathy for her at this stage. And that is: here is a couple torn beyond belief (except they didn't actually lose THEIR kid), and along come new chatty anti-SW SM sites, and get this...a "producer". All willing to exploit her pain and rub alcohol and salt in it.
Anyone who is media savvy, like most ppl on this board could have told her she was hooking up with those who don't have her own interests in mind.

Agreed with that. As much as I am disgusted with their choices in how they conduct themselves, the leeches exploiting their misery for profit are soulless monsters.

Personally I doubt that CW was controlled or abused by his parents (or anyone else) at any point. At present there is no evidence of that and in fact his parents have gone to regrettable lengths to defend him. He is not a victim in any way IMO.

I still think that the most effective way and perhaps the only way they might accept that he and he alone is responsible for the murders is for them to see him say it face to face. It might be the only way to shut them down and reflect on their own actions.
If CW can murder his pregnant wife and his two little girls he isn't so frail that he can't speak to his own mother.

He did say it. He pled guilty right in front of them.

Following these cases for so many years I recognize the Watts family. They will never accept it.

That makes sense, they need their own records.

I assume so, since there is just one videographer allowed in the courtroom. MOO

I disagree, I don’t think it’s judgemental to call it like it is. She has no respect for anyone including her son. She did not respect his decision to love and marry and have children. She has not accepted his decision to take a plea. I think it goes way beyond a loving mother not wanting to accept he has committed such a heinous crime. I also don’t think it is a given that any mother would put the blame on another. MOO.

There is that judgment word being thrown around. When actually it appears to me (and I believe, the majority of the WS’s) discernment. - (definition, discernment: nothing more than the ability to decide between truth and error, right and wrong. Discernment is the process of making careful distinctions in our thinking about truth.)

If we want to get theological about it: According to the New Testament, discernment is not optional for the believer-it is required.

Oops, maybe I need to go back and read it again. I remember reading audio, but not video. :p

CW acted very differently, depending on who he was with. He tells his family he’s miserable and scared of his wife. When he’s with SW he says he wants to make a baby. He did say in that pregnancy reveal video, “When you want to, it happens.” When he’s with his and SW’s friends, they say, he’s a loving and devoted husband. When he’s with his AP’s he’s a cheater. Who is Chris Watts?

But this is not judging it's armchair diagnosing her with a mental illness.

You mean like borderline personality disorder? Narcissistic personality disorder? Having homicidal and suicidal ideation? Obsessive compulsive disorder? Munchausen Syndrome and Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy?

Hmm. Some who are railing about "armchair diagnoses" based on commonalities seen repeatedly in family annihilators and their families, (which we see repeated with the Watts clan), had ZERO problem with such diagnoses of an actual murder victim based on the state of her darn closets, speculation about innocuous home videos and gossipy innuendo and rumor.

Thought provoking post. Well said. I never thought about what a chameleon he actually is.

Kind of goes along with my theory of family annihilators having annihilated identies.

You may be right and I need a reread too ;) but I can’t imagine the courts relying on MSM for their live stream to the overflow court

Exactly. There's their answer. The Watts family is willfully choosing to disregard it.

Agree, which is why I said earlier that his plea is just more manipulation by him to control the situation.

Side note - I still think he’s bloody guilty of it all. Just that he’s had a lot of time to think in his cell on how he would like things to go/what he can control

Here's what I see:
Equipment Limitations.

1. Video. The media shall be given access to the courtroom, in a location as designated by the judge, and the petitioners shall be responsible for pooling pursuant to the arrangements outlined below. There shall be only one such camera in the Courtroom from which the proceedings may be viewed. Only one person shall be permitted to operate the one videotape, television, or motion picture camera. The camera operator may use a tripod but shall not change location while Court is in session. Video may be utilized for live streaming and taping.

2. Audio. The court’s audio system shall be used if technically suitable and, in that event, there must be no interference with the court’s use of its system. If the court’s system is not technically suitable, then the person conducting expanded media coverage may install an audio recording system at his or her own expense upon first obtaining approval of the judge. All microphones and related wiring shall be unobtrusive and shall not interfere with the movement of those in the courtroom.

Is what you're referring to somewhere else and I'm missing it?

I think it would be in the courts best interest to deny KA access to the courtroom on Monday. Not only has she breached confidentiality and court orders by tweeting from the courtroom during the reading of the plea deal, she also penned the letter to the judge on behalf of Ms Watts, accusing the system of actions that are, in her words, "inhumane". At this point, she is preying on Ms Watts and her weakened state, for her own gain and notoriety. Unfortunately she is using what appears to be a very emotionally, unstable human being /Ms Watts who MAY ( not saying she is) be on the brink of an emotional &/or nervous breakdown. Not something anyone one of us would want to see happen. I hope the court/ judge sees the potential disaster this could cause, and deny KA any and all access inside the courtroom for the best interest for everyone.
I agree, but that would give a huge boost to that website and their followers. Can you imagine the victimhood shouted through cyberspace. What could happen is that CW family is allowed to bring an extra person, or a "counselor" with them and the letter writer could get in that way. (I just made that up, but anything is possible here).
